Two years ago, when Bethany Wilkerson was born with a serious heart problem, private insurance wouldn’t help her. Without SCHIP, Bethany might not be here today. Watch the new SCHIP ad:
The last SCHIP family to go public about the value of the health insurance program — the Frosts — was smeared by the right wing. The Wilkersons said today they aren’t scared of the attacks that may come against them:
The Wilkersons said they are fully aware of the possibility that their finances and personal lives may be investigated by opponents of the SCHIP bill.
“We rent a house, we have one car that is a junker. Let them dig away,” Bo Wilkerson said. “I have $67 in my checking account. Does that answer your question?”

The Frosts were just on Olbermann.
He owned a business from 1990 to 1998, and carried health insurance. The cost of carrying health insurance for the business was the main reason he had to shut down; the costs were too prohibitive.
Let’s see if Stalkin Malkin corrects the record on the Frosts before she goes on to smear Bethany.
October 15th, 2007 at 8:51 pmWow, that’s one powerful ad.
October 15th, 2007 at 8:52 pmREICH-WING ATTACK IN 3…. 2….. 1…..
October 15th, 2007 at 8:56 pmWell, that didn’t take long. Michelle is already after Bethany: new toddler-aged human shield.
October 15th, 2007 at 8:56 pmI am sure that deranged sociopaths like Malkin will find a way to smear and belittle the Wilkersons.
Get four jobs! Sell your car! Homeschool your children! Don’t have children! Give up electricity! Whatever happened to personal responsibility!? Stop eating!
This is the compassionate conservatism Malkin, Coulter, Limbaugh, and their followers embrace.
October 15th, 2007 at 8:57 pm800,000 children covered vs. 1 week in Iraq? How in the hell can anyone argue against that? No doubt they’ll try though.

October 15th, 2007 at 9:22 pmMalkontent needs more controversy as she has no creative writing style, historical grasp of society or political savvy. She is also unable to put her feet in someone elses shoes and wearing a soul other than the dark one shes shrouded in.

This is a great ad. Let’s see if the republicon will attack an even younger and poorer kid.
Love it, a fighting family!

Because she’s not an embryo.

you’re might be more right than you realize (from “broadsheet” @ salon.com)
Frozen embryo v. state of California
In federal court tomorrow, trial lawyer Martin Palmer will, as he sees it, defend Mary Scott Doe from enslavement. There’s just one teeny-tiny, microscopic problem: Mary is an embryo. Palmer is the founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Preborn Children (in other words, the NAAPC — what a comedian) and is deeply troubled by the state-run California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), which funds stem cell research. So, naturally, he’s suing.
October 15th, 2007 at 9:44 pmIt’s not that Republicans don’t care about Bethany. It’s just that Republicans care more about self reliance and self determination. And Republicans understand that it isn’t the governments job to replace parents/family.
But, ya, the left is going to sell it like this… Republicans hate children and want them to suffer. then die.
October 15th, 2007 at 9:56 pmIt’s just that Republicans care more about self reliance and self determination. And Republicans understand that it isn’t the governments job to replace parents/family. -SpankBot
But its the governments job to dole out the cash to supposedly sefl reliant and self-determinate corporations in earmarks by lobbyists?
What did that bridge to nowwhere cost spankbot?
October 15th, 2007 at 10:03 pmIt’s just that Republicans care more about self reliance and self determination -SpankBot
The people apllied for the program, and obtained help, legally. The current bill, which is BI-PARTISAN I remind you, the Republicans in the senate voted for it as well. Malkin, and Bush, I doubt, are compassionate, you know that idiotic Rovian talking point that was endlessly spewed?
October 15th, 2007 at 10:07 pmCorporate welfare, dependiong on capital gains, is estimated to be from 85-190 billion a year SpankBot

For once I agree with you. And do you know why the left will do that? Because it’s true! The Republican Party has no problem with children getting sick and dying. Prove to me that I’m wrong.

October 15th, 2007 at 10:14 pmthanks…
Yeah, that’s right, spanky. “Self-reliance and determination” for hard-working Americans doing everything they can to get by, corporate welfare for the elite captains of industry, including the CEO’s who couldn’t be bothered here with the lives of children. The American people won’t be fooled by this kind of slander. Too many know they are not that far from the situations these families have had to face. They will know how to vote. Keep arguing “personal responsibility” and “self reliance” to the electorate. It’s a beautiful strategy.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:22 pmOh no. SOCIALISM!!!! How horrible!!! Anyone think that conservatives are actually human? I don’t.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:25 pmWow, conservatives really have a lot of people to hate if they’re going to hate everyone involved in SCHIP.
Better get hatin’!
October 15th, 2007 at 10:26 pmBug-Eyes Malkin & Co. attacked the Frosts for being too wealthy to truly qualify for S-Chip, which means they’ll now attack the Wilkersons for being too lazy, shiftless, and dumb to make as much money as the Frosts.
As for SpankyBottom’s “self-reliance and self-determination,” he must be so proud that George W. Bush ascended to the Presidency purely by his own pluck, hard work, and smarts, without any help from family or friends.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:27 pm“Bethany’s parents know S-CHIP works,

October 15th, 2007 at 10:48 pmheh..
The same heartless jerks who would resent or deny health care for children are the same ones who sanctimoniously claim they are pro-life. If they are so pro-life, why aren’t they eager to help families in need?
October 15th, 2007 at 10:58 pmTheir pro-life stance seems to abruptly end once the child is born. At his first breath, the kid is on his own.
Katy,
October 15th, 2007 at 10:59 pmThere you are!
You know Spanky, some people choose to have abortions because they fear they will be unable to care for children properly, you know, give them the medical care they need. But you people march at so many clinics that women are afraid to go to them. Then when they have the babies, which they knew they wouldn’t be able to afford, you bash them for having the babies. You Republicans want to have your cake and eat it too. But you know what you should eat instead…
October 15th, 2007 at 11:20 pm—-

Did Malkin come up with “human shield”? If so, she’s admitting to taking part in a war on the middle class.

October 15th, 2007 at 11:37 pmhello marie!

hey, i left a message for you last week… now i know why

(weird that i could see them all, but no one else):
marie - are you planning to march in chicago on the 27th?
i’m tentatively planning to be there… can stay at my daughter’s -
and drag her with me!
also - i plagiarized a comment of yours in a letter-to-editor that you helped me write last week… thank you… didn’t have time to ask
permission… the subject, my thoughts, your comment just came
together in 2 days time… about how repugs are blocking dems…
thanks again!

October 16th, 2007 at 12:13 amHere is what the ReighWingers will say -
“We OWN 2 Mansons, we have FOUR carS, THE MERCEDES is a junker. Let them dig away,†Bo Wilkerson said. “I have $67MILLION in my checking account. Does that answer your question?â€
Or -
“They were BrainWashed by the Democrat Party, they are pawns for their socialist agenda.”
Or-
“We need to linch them and leave them blowing in the wind to show other libs what speaking out can do.”
ReighWing Chickenhawk Fascists are a slimmy group, no ethics, no morals, no humanity in them at all.

October 16th, 2007 at 12:29 amWilkersons and Frosts: caring, loving families who take care of one another.
“Conservatives:” The hateful folks who hate the Wilkersons and the Frosts!
Gimme the Wilkersons and the Frosts in exchange for a thousand “conservatives” (what in the name of all that is Holy are they trying to “conserve?”)!
October 16th, 2007 at 12:42 amThen when they have the babies, which they knew they wouldn’t be able to afford, you bash them for having the babies.
Comment by Shayne — October 15, 2007 @ 11:20 pm
And when they take those same babies to the local state-funded clinic, they are bashed for being “irresponsible” and not paying “proper” health care -as if publicly-funded care could never be good enough- and are told that they should be responsible and not have babies.
Bad if they do, bad if they don’t. There is simply no pleasing the right-wingers, even if you play by their rules.
October 16th, 2007 at 12:44 amDON’T EXPECT RULES WHEN YOU ARE FIGHTING WITH HYENAS. KNOW YOU’RE GOING TO GET DIRTY AND BLOODY AND GET IN THERE ANYWAY. Bethany and Graeme can’t fight back against these Nazis. We can.
October 16th, 2007 at 1:30 amYou know the GOP talking points about covering the poor kids will go down the drain once the wingnut attack dogs start smearing this family.
Everyone should realize that the GOP doesn’t give a shit about fetuses. If they were truly consistent, their senators would have never voted against forbidding chemical companies to test pesticides on yes pregnant women.
October 16th, 2007 at 2:14 amThe GOP is all about the way things SHOULD be done. That has nothing to do with reality, and they don’t care.
October 16th, 2007 at 2:39 amVote Conservative–Conservative: bad for business, bad for competitiveness, bad for the economy, bad for peace, bad for Democracy, and especially bad for children!
October 16th, 2007 at 6:17 am>It’s just that Republicans care more about
>self reliance and self determination.
So am I to assume you support giving people as much information and choices as possible so they can make intelligent, informed choices about birth control and family planning?
Or is your mantra going to be “if you can’t afford healthcare for your future children, don’t get horny”
October 16th, 2007 at 6:44 amMalkin actually called that kid a human shield!?!?!
That’s like Rush calling that vote vets soldier a suicide bomber…these people are sick sick sick sick!
October 16th, 2007 at 8:48 am> that threatens to do to children’s health care what the government run >VA has done to veteran’s health care.
outsource it to a halliburton subsidiary whose employees neglect thier duties? you ARE aware of how much stuff the government outsources to private companies, right?
October 16th, 2007 at 11:02 amBluestatedon has it down perfect with:
“Bug-Eyes Malkin & Co. attacked the Frosts for being too wealthy to truly qualify for S-Chip, which means they’ll now attack the Wilkersons for being too lazy, shiftless, and dumb to make as much money as the Frosts.”
Isn’t the goalpost-moving talent of these “creatures” (h/t Olbermann) a breathtaking sight to behold?
Shayne & Gregor: the conservative position on abortion and child healthcare is 100% consistent. Their goal is for the poor mother to have that baby and place it for adoption by a good, Christian family.
