The Real Rudy: no-bid contract endangers FDNY on 9/11.

In a report examining the response to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the U.S. Fire Administration determined that on-scene “communications were a serious problem” in terms of establishing “control of the incident.” When then-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani sought to replace the faulty radios used in 1993, he awarded a no-bid contract to Motorola, which again provided faulty radios. Today, Brave New Films has released a web video detailing the negative impact Giuliani’s no-bid decision had on firefighters on 9/11. Watch it:

Once Motorola was given the contract, the price jumped from $1.4 million to $14 million. Sign a petition demanding an investigation of the inadequate radios HERE.

  2. Lefty Patriot Says:

Signed, sealed, delivered. this Mussolini-style fascist needs to be destroyed politically ASAP.

  3. Badmoodman Says:

Rudy: "Judith swears by her Motorola cellphone! That's a good enough endorsement for me. (Hmm, I wonder if Bernie uses Motorola too....maybe I should've checked.)"

  4. upside99 Says:

And RUDEE is the Repug's best candidate? How far that Party has slipped in the past 7 years. And I wonder why? HMMMM

  5. Zimzone Says:

You would think that the guy with 3 wives would be Romney, right?

    Rudy's campaign slogan: 'I am 9/11'

Well, Rudy, you bought it, you own it. Now comes the hard part; explaining why you screwed up the whole response in '93.

No, Rudy, you can't even blame Clinton for this one.

this is a sweet, touching picture...

  7. Zimzone Says:

These questions from Brave New Films:

-Why was nothing done to improve NYFD radio performance for seven years after a clear need was demonstrated in the 1993 World Trade Center attack?
-When new radios were finally ordered, why did the city block other companies besides Motorola from bidding on the contract?
-Once Motorola was given the contract, why did its cost jump from $1.4 million to $14 million?
-Why were these new radios never tested?

Rudy, you got some 'splain'n to do!

  8. TripMaster Monkey Says:

I heard something infuriating oin NPR this morning...about how all the other Repub candidates are ganging up on Rudy, trying to take him down, but they (allegedly) don't know how.

I'll tell you how...and there's no charge for this advice:

    Hit Rudy where he lives...9/11.

His entire campaign is based upon his conduct in relation to that single event. There's plenty of evidence that Rudy mishandled, and continues to mishandle, the situations surrounding 9/11.

His motives for this mishandling need not be explored. His role (if any) in any postulated 9/11 conspiracy theory need not be explored either. All one need do is point out the obvious discrepancies between the mythical "Mayor of America" and the real McCoy.

  9. Marcus Aurelius Says:

using the SRM (Standard Republican Meme), which states that something moving backward more slowly than it had, is actually moving forward, Rudy is a great candidate (compared to Bush).

  10. tarazan Says:

Rudy keeps re inventing himself. He plays now the appeasing game, he is trying to appease NRA, religious Right, AIPAC.
He uses 9/11 as his ' Start On' switch to begin any conversation ,on any topic.
He is now against abortion when he was for it..he is now for guns when he was gainst guns. He talks values, and love for his wife Judy..and to prove it, he keeps the phone love line open with Judy even when he is debating on a stage. He claims all started after 9/11...!!

  11. Zimzone Says:

Fruity Rudy, the 'not ready for prime time candidate', '08.

  12. Witch1 Says:

He is a putz, doubt the voting public will be enticed to vote for him unless he start's handing out $1,000 bill's at the voting booth..Blessings

  13. TRDaggett Says:

How does anyone live with the knowledge that so many people died as a direct result of their action/inaction? And to make it worse, he now lies about it and bases his campaign on that lie.

This is the act of someone living below the level of a human being. This is criminal. This is denial beyond the level of those who still support the action in Iraq, but the results are the same, unnecessary deaths.

Share this video with as many people as you can. It's doubtful the MSM will, and that's nearly as criminal as what Rudy did.

  14. Xisithrus Says:

When I look at Rudy, I think of ColonelKlink

A guy who wants to be an authoritarian but is really a wuss.

  15. RUCerious Says:

No Bid contracts are the speciality of the Repugs. Their motto:

    No corporate profit left behind.

  16. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

My sister has a friend who is a committed Republican, 65 years old, and has never voted for a Democrat. He has had business dealings with Rudy in the past, and stated that Rudy is the most dishonest and unethical person he has ever known. I don't have details yet, but I will get them.

  17. Leftside Annie Says:

Rudy Ghouliani is a giant pile of stinking, steaming horsesh*t.

  18. Darryl Mason Says:

Yeah, it's easy to take cheaps shots at Rudy.

But I don't hear any other presidential contenders pledging to protect us against an intergalactic attack of vicious extraterrestrials.

You won't have to toil in any underground sugar caves with Rudy in the White House.

  19. Mr. Sifter Says:

t is quite amazing that Rudy Giuliani is not only unapologetic about his failures concerning 9/11, but he is content to use the tragedy to propel himself to the presidency. What is more amazing the American media’s obsession with treating him as a hero. We do not need fake heroes. I'm so tired of hearing that he is America's Mayor. America does not need a Mayor!

I wrote a lengthy piece about Rudy on my new blog, http://www.standingbeforethefire.com, please check it out if you have the chance. I just started it today, so only two posts so far, but I will posting every day on it. thanks.
