Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) is continuing to investigate the White House for proof the president lied when making the case for going to war in Iraq. U.S. News reports Waxman has “been quietly summoning former Bush aides, especially speechwriters, to testify behind closed doors about what they knew and how they phrased his words on the issue.”
String him up by the balls, Henry!
October 15th, 2007 at 10:15 amBloodhound Waxman stays on Bush’s tracks. This is a big one and he needs to not knuckle under to any pressure. After all, this will be the nuts and bolts of Bush’s war crime tribunal when he leaves office.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:17 amI’ll believe it when I see it.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:20 amWhile you’re at it, please use the inquiry to ask how Al Q can be routed in Iraq due to the surge (all of a sudden I might add), when the military analysts have said all along that Al Q isn’t the problem in Iraq ??????????????????????????????

Me, too — but I’m hoping this might be the final straw. Waxman is doing the right thing (why does he always seem to be a lone crusader?), and he might even trip over somebody with a conscience — somebody who’s fed up with the Darth Cheney machine and will sacrifice himself to expose it. Hey, a naive idealist can dream.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:26 amHmmm,
Maybe he can get Sanchez to provide some up front facts from behind the scenes. The Bushies must find the retired General’s bashing of the Iraq war disconcerting, at the very least.
Waxman has been consistent in his investigations, albeit not real successful to date.
With all the ‘R’s’ announcing retirements lately, Waxman may have a wider choice of people willing to amBush Bush.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:30 amThese is very important. The American public need to know if we sent U.S. Troops into Iraq to die for a lie or war profits.

One more.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:46 amoil.
Lie, war profits, and oil.
I commend Waxman for laying the groundwork. Obviously he alone does not have the power to carry it forward, but the day may come when a groundswell forms to do something about the war criminals running this country. If that does happen, the necessary legal proceedings will move forward more quickly because of the things that Waxman and a few others have already been doing.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:47 amCan we refer these as “The Pudding Investigations”? You know, the proof is in there somewhere.
October 15th, 2007 at 10:47 amfor proof? for proof? goddamn does he need it slapped right across his face and rammed up his a$$?
October 15th, 2007 at 11:01 amOne can only hope that Ms. Pelosi will not cave in on this investigation.

Agreed, one can only hope.
OT, why does Rush get away with ‘Nazi Pelosi’? When Dick Durbin compared our Iraq invasion to Hitler he was demonized by congress…
when Limpballs does it, he’s ‘practicing free speech’.
Rush is the swamp, and he needs draining.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:23 amThe investigations will be stonewalled by the White House war criminals.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:23 amAction speaks louder than words. Arrest, convict then execute.
I fully support Waxman and his enquiries.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:29 amTime to bring back the guillotine. We’ll need a big dump truck just to haul off the heads of all the war criminals in this administration.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:31 amIsn’t this something the 109th Congress was going to do in Phase II of it’s investigation into the lead up to the Iraq war?
Oh yeah, those were the republican stooges before they all started wanting to spend more time with their families.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:34 am“Does that mean there’s still no proof that Bush lied after all this time?
Imagine that!”
Comment by O. Bigfoot
Dreams are but sweet illusions. Someday Biggie will wake up, and realize he’s been chumped by his heros.
But not today.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:35 amwow, the footster get it’s wrong again. The investigation is to get to the bottom of what was known by these former Bush admin. folks. Sounds like it’s gathering the evidence.
Bigfoot follows a fool.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:43 amNot a chance, untill we get Palosi and Reid to do their job and the public woke up we are in one hell of a mess…Banging our head’s against a wall, sending email’s and marching has not worked…….Maybe if we raise a bunch of cash and send in semi’s full of rotting food to the senate and house we might get noticed…..Then again perhaps we should vote all their asses out of office…..Demand term limit’s and have open ballott voting all over the country…..Let us not forget to rid our country of the infected voting machines.
This entire bunch with the exception on one or two are as polluted as an over full septic tank and need’s to be pumped out…..I’m sick of them all and so far it look’s like the reich are going to walk free when their term’s are up thank’s to the immunety clauses in the Patriot act….What we have is wrong doer’s and enabeler’s, the only way the public is going to get off their asses and help us is if they are forced to..
The misery index will have to get a lot worse for the dead head’s to do anything….Needless to say, so far the reich has done a good job in the media making the public immune by showing more and more killing and lies with their little add campaign’s..
My thinking since these insane warmonger’s took control has been to stock pile food ,water, fuel and ammo…When it’s all done and they have taken all they want, distroyed our country and run off to Dubi or Parague those of us left can rebuild, if there are any of us left of course……..Blessings
October 15th, 2007 at 11:54 am“Actually, it’s time for you folks to give it up. If hostile Democrats havn’t even been able to come up with any evidence that Bush has lied, yet still feel the need to waste time looking, what makes you think they are going to come up with any evidence of war crimes?”
Cheney learned something from his days in the Reagan WH: make sure your shredder can handle the load.
The problem is that the Bushies are only one disgruntled employee away from being revealed. Just one person who Rove or Cheney pushed around, and decided to get a little protection for themselves, in case the day came that they were in danger of being smeared by the machine. Do you really think there aren’t any smoking guns temporarily hidden, just in case? I’ll bet Cheney’s underlings knew his personal classification system wasn’t legal, and kept document copies to protect themselves and their families – as we all know Bush considers wives and children to be political fair game.

October 15th, 2007 at 11:56 am“After all, that’s what keeps you all in the miniscule minority of the radical kook fringe left.”
And thank O. Bigfoot for his Hackneyed Wingnut Phrase of the Day.
October 15th, 2007 at 11:59 amApparently, Exlax and Bigmouth are smoking from the same hookah.
October 15th, 2007 at 12:02 pmI like many of you commend Mr. Waxman on this quest for the truth. His biggest problem won’t be find the facts, it will be Nancy (Cave in) Pelosi. She so afraid of Bush, she pees he pants when he speaks. Many Americans have been calling for Impeachment for since the Dems took power. But under (No Guts) Harry Reid and (Weak Kneed) Nancy we can’t even get John Conyers, who wanted to Impeachment Bush worst than a Bear needs honey, to proceed. He’s been given strict orders that it’s too be hands off Bush, for fear of a Rightwing backlash, from Fox News, Rush Limpbuagh, Sean Hannity, Neil Bortz, and Ann (Longneck Witch) Coulter.
October 15th, 2007 at 12:03 pmHow sad for your party that YOU must actually spend MILLIONS of tax dollars for a sex issue, because YOU hate sex with the same sex so much!

Just to clarify – it’s not MY party, I have been a very strong advocate on TP for equal rights for homosexuals, and I have been a Christian voice of reason and advocacy for firm separation of church and state. Otherwise, your post is spot on.
October 15th, 2007 at 12:04 pmAs for the rest: I guess all those “disgruntled employees†are waiting for…..what?
Comment by O. Bigfoot — October 15, 2007 @ 12:05 pm
Perhaps the reigns of power which can and has been used to discredit and otherwise abuse are no longer in the hands of those whom they are disgruntled by?
October 15th, 2007 at 12:08 pmReagan’s overall approval rating is the same as Clinton’s. Reagan cut and ran from Beruit. Did backdoor deals with terrorists and slept thru most of his administration.
Bush will be remembered as greatest presidential puppet of all time.
October 15th, 2007 at 12:13 pmI can only hope that enough blood from all the innocent people killed in Latin America by Raygun trickles down to hell to drown him in a the second death he deserves. Worst President until W.
October 15th, 2007 at 12:20 pmCAREFULLY analyze the chymps detailed response to the force authorization.
It’s blatant bullshit, just parroting the language of each requirement back with no substantive evidence cited.
That alone should be enough to investigate and impeach against.
October 15th, 2007 at 12:48 pmPlease remember: O Bigfoot is not real; he’s a fictional character. You cannot convince him; his authors don’t want you to think the typical Bush supporter can be convinced. Indeed, any discussion with O Bigfoot will result in unpleasantness. Again, his authors want you to think that political discussion with Bush supporters will be equally unpleasant.
This is a tactic used to keep us away from their base and close down the public sphere. The more people who don’t particiapte – the more easy it will be for them to “win” elections.
Real people don’t act like the trolls; they are not so stupid, hostile, obnoxious, or impervious to logic and evidence. Trolls aren’t real.
Notice, however, that O Bigfoot has begun using the argument that the Democratic Leadership’s unwillingness to pursue impeachment is EVIDENCE of the LEGALITY of Bush’s actions. We will hear this more and more if we cannot convince or replace Pelosi.
October 15th, 2007 at 1:22 pmSorry for the confussion.

No worries. That’s what I thought happened. If I didn’t my response would have been quite different!
October 15th, 2007 at 2:05 pmO. Bigmouth: “Long term, George Bush will be seen as a great leader for taking actual steps now, and creating a strategy that demands fullfillment, which will protect the United States from stateless terrorists bent on our destruction.
Those are the facts, folks.”
One of the biggest problems we face as a society is that people are losing the ability to tell fact from feeling. This poor, pathetic Bush cultist states what he BELIEVES will happen in the future and then follows this by proudly stating, “those are the facts.” He clearly doesn’t have the mental capability to tell the difference between assertion and fact. I would hesitate to call this “stupid” or “ignorant,” but it’s clearly mentally unbalanced. Sure, judging from his many other ludicrous statements, it’s safe to call the bigmouth “stuipid” and definitely “ignorant,” but this post shows that really, what we’re dealing with here is an insane person. I think it’s best to humor or ignore crazy people.
October 15th, 2007 at 2:41 pm“it’s far easier to use blustery rhetoric in an attempt to win an election than it is to prove such statements in a court of law…and in this country, we are innocent until PROVEN guilty.
No charges=no conviction=no crimes.”
Comment by O. Bigfoot — October 15, 2007 @ 2:32 pm
So you’ll agree that all the horrible things said about Clinton should cease immediately:
1) “Vince Foster was murdered on Clinton’s orders!”– three separate investigations ruled Foster’s death a suicide.
2) “Clinton bribed state troopers to keep his crimes covered up!” — no charges filed. Perpetrator of story publicly apologized for it and admitted it was part of an “anti-Clinton crusade.”
3) “Clinton committed perjury and attempted to obstruct justice in the Paula Jones case!” — Clinton was impeached, but acquitted. No conviction here, therefore no guilt.
4) “Clinton pardoned Marc Rich in a quid pro quo deal!” — no charges filed, despite a Congressional investigation lasting several months.
5) “The Clintons acted illegally in the Whitewater investment deal!” — three separate inquiries found insufficient evidence they had done anything illegal.
6) “Travelgate!” — investigated, no charges filed
7) “Filegate!” — investigated, no charges filed
And the list of supposed high crimes of the Clintons goes on and on. How refreshing to hear from you that because they haven’t been proven guilty of any of these that they are innocent. Now, can you get the rest of the wingnuts to give it a rest?
October 15th, 2007 at 3:13 pmLong term, George Bush will be seen as a great leader for taking actual steps now, and creating a strategy that demands fullfillment, which will protect the United States from stateless terrorists bent on our destruction.

Those aren’t “facts” — those are hopeful wishes. If George’s strategy actually works, resulting in Iraq realizing peaceful democracy, terrorism disappearing altogether, and he is revered as a hero for all he has done, I will be the first person doing a happy dance.
Pardon me if I have my doubts any of this will happen. Right now, all I see is Al Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan growing, Osama bin Laden is still at large, Iraq is destabilized, our country is in hock to China so much to pay for this war that our dollar is getting more worthless by the day, thousands of people are dying. And I’m not seeing any real progress toward democracy in Iraq. Yes, it would be really cool if all this mess would get cleaned up. And if it does, I will cheer the person or persons who did it — even if it’s a Republican.
October 15th, 2007 at 3:32 pmexcuse me….but everyone knows bush and his buddies lied….it isn’t even an argument….bottom line he should be in prison….but he wont be tried …..or even questioned because the super rich now run this country….do you guys even know that we are at a scale of 48.5 with 50.0 being civil unrest?…we are run by the wealth hiding in their gated communities….why a gate? cause they are scared of the great ” unwashed” …..historically this country is on the route to anarchy….wake up people….including the ultra rich…..lol…..where will your grandchildren be?…..Blame the rich (that dont share the responsibility or even care about the babies except their own…after all, isn’t it our fault we are poor?)….don’t take down your contemporary…….who is the real enemy? those that can see will see…..
