What ever happened to “family values?” King and the GOP members of the HR who voted against S-CHIP use this phrase without any idea of what it means to really uphold family values.

Thank you to the Frost and Wilkerson families for showing what it means to value families and children’s health.

I also hope the media does a better job of talking about the funding plan for the bill next time than it did this time. The tobacco tax, of sixty-one cents per pack on every person who smokes, regardless of income, was all but kept secret.

SCHIP is a good program and deserves to be expanded. But everyone should be involved in paying for it, not just the demon du jour minority.

Republicans danced in the streets today in true nationalist style as they watched their favorite storm trooper senator virtually bootstomp women, children and families in the streets. Their furvor rose to a fevered pitch as they chanted “heil to Bush”! Several Democratic senators joined in, chanting “down with the middle class, let them eat cake”. The democratic leadership is expected to bow to Bush and lick his boots early tomorrow morning at the Supreme Court, site of the 2000 coup. New language is being drafted that will promote the idea that poor children do not need education and should be put to work in the oil fields so they can afford their own health insurance. A brave but insignificant group of leftists stood on the sidelines foolishly chanting some crap about family values and the American Dream. When will these anti-American trowbacks to the 60s ever wake up? American Dream my ass! Somebody ought to put these hippies in their place.

We’ll visit your country in the extant but not all that commonplace instances that supply momentarily can’t meet demand, and pay exorbitant prices for the privilege.

You can continue having a confusing, piecemeal, overhead-laden system that costs more than ours while failing to cover an increasing number.

It’ll be like a reality show, because hey, it’s real.

Let’s see who wins. If the currency market’s any indication…

The democrats were lying. Nothing new.

Most folks support the existing SCHIP program.

Most folks do not support expanding the SCHIP program.

“As you may know, the Democrats want to allow a family of four earning about $62,000 to qualify for the program. President Bush wants most of the increases to go to families earning less than $41,000. Whose side do you favor?”

When put in those terms, 52% agreed with Bush: 40% with the Democrats.

Please. Stop lying.

If we deployed out of Iraq, we’d have plenty of money for SCHIP.

My Congressman, Lee Terry, is almost as right-wing as King. In 2006 Terry only got 55% of the vote against a candidate that I only saw one TV ad one time. Next time around he will get a serious challenge.

You are a jerk. Quit sullying the threads with your vitriolic nonsense.

The issue isn’t health insurance, rather it’s the rising cost of healthcare. If we focused on what healthcare actually costs us, we would realize that the bureaucrats and insurance companies actually reap a large percentage of the overall health care costs in our society. When you go to the doctor, do you ask how much that x-ray will cost you? No–you merely ask if they take your insurance provider. This is ridiculous.

What we need to do is realize that to fix our system, we need more doctors and nurse-practicioners. Entry into med school should be focused on ability, not an arbitrary MCAT test. We need health care that is not driven by insurance schemes, but on placing patients and doctors in direct contact with one another in order to drive down health costs.

Then, we can focus on what we really need insurance for–catastrophic health care costs, i.e., cancer-treatment, etc.

For all those who supported the expansion of SCHIP beyond reason, you need to take a deep breath and relax. No one is against the children of our country, and it doesn’t make sense to add more burdens on their future potential by sadling more (state-sponsored insurance schemes) debt onto their future working shoulders.
