Iraq critic wins Polish parliamentary elections.

Challenger Donald Tusk of the Civic Platform party ousted current prime minister and strong Bush ally Jaroslaw Kaczynski in Poland’s parliamentary elections today. During the election, Tusk promised that “if elected, he would try to bring home the 900 Polish troops in Iraq.”

Donaled Tusk is a Polish national name? And what’s this “try” to bring the troops home? There is no try, Yoda, only do.

****Iraq invasion is the biggest American foreign policy blunder of all times. It’s only the US congress & 20% of wingnuts with their sheer loyalty to the Corporations who can’t seem to comprehend the fact.

This could stymie Bush’s plan to install a missile shield in Poland.

Labour will probably lose the next election in England and Howard will probably lose in Australia. When that happens it will be a clean sweep of Bush supporters suffering election defeats.

I feel badly for Kathleen Blanco, who was not a fault in the Katrina disaster. She was correct to evacuate New Orleans, instead of sending rescuers into an unsafe area.

Ray Nagin should have lost his mayorship, because he failed to evacuate his city prior to the storm, and went into hysterionics during and after the storm.

I think Gordon Brown will bring the troops home. Maybe completely within a year. Labour has lost a lot of poularity, but the people don’t like the Conservatives, either. They are normally a lot more pro-war than Labour.

I lived there twelve years, so I know something about it. You could really see the country deteriorate under Thatcher.

This escalator broke down in Warsaw and dozens were stranded there for hours until they could get it working again.

Um, one of those twins was the man who LOST the election. His brother, unfortunately, remains the Polish President. (I do believe, however, the Polish Presidency is on par with most other parliamentary republics, like Israel and Italy, being only “Head of State”, and having largely ceremonial powers. Usually, a parliamentary system’s real power lies with the Prime Minister who holds the title of “Head of Government”.)
