Drexel confirms it is not part of Islamo-Fascism Week.

Earlier today, ThinkProgress noted how David Horowitz is dishonestly inflating the number of schools participating in his “clownish” Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week. According to a Drexel University student who wrote to TPM, “there are no speakers, movies, or other events planned, and there has been no announcement of TAW either” at the school, despite being listed on Horowitz’s website as a participating school.

I’m shocked, I tell you! Shocked!!

  2. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

Not surprising. And neither is the fact that Stark caved and apologized for telling truth to power. The Dems are truly a spineless party.

    schools?
did i say schools? hey, it was an honest mistake.
i meant to say there will be a number of neocon indoctrination training camps participating in the event.

As I noted on the earlier thread, their website lists “University of South Florida – Tampa” twice and lists another school that I don’t think exists — “University of Southern Indiana – South Bend”.

Odd that a raving right-wing looniary would lie on his website.

  5. Marcus Aurelius says:

“It’s a legitimate movement,” Horowitz shouted, as he crapped his pants for the third time that day.

  6. Loonie says:

Horowitz is a shrieking clown, who lives in crippling fear of his increasing irrelevance. Hence the need to bawl at the top of his voice all the time, to vie for attention. It’s what children do.

  7. GregM says:

I am a alumni of Drexel. I was surprised and disappointed that it was on the list. Now I’m relieved that it was just used as part of another neocon lie.

It’s really writes it’s own comedy-

Campus meeting, all 12 of the ChristoFascist Brownshirt Lockstep Lemmings line up and goose step around the Campus Center and point to darkskin people and call them Islamofascist.

Could just see them now, with their signs with little ABombs on them, little turbins, chanting, drinking the cool-aid.

Afterward they will all go back to their closets and flog themselves till they pass-out.

    What a bunch of clowns.

Sorry ChristoFascist, the People aren’t eating from your hotdog cart anymore.

(Though in all honesty I wasn’t even thinking of our resident wingnut when I came up with BAW – I just wanted to pick a well-known fictional threat on par with “Islamofascists,” and Charybdis seemed too obscure…)

  16. gummitch says:

Horowitz needs to get himself a little black dress and let his hair grow out (or get a blonde wig). Otherwise, he will simply fade off into complete (and well-deserved) obscurity.

  22. DigDug says:

Funny thing is after claiming his rallies will be happenning in 200 schools, his list of “Schools to date at which the David Horowitz Freedom Center will be organizing Islamo-Fascism Awareness Weeks” only has 97 schools listed.

thanks for the info, Daryll, but I wasn’t asking about IUSB. I know that exists. I graduated from Notre Dame. I asked about the University of Southern Indiana – South Bend.

I searched the web, checked out the USI website — no mention anywhere of any USI satellite campus in South Bend.

  27. lefty says:

This is the mission statement from his website:

The purpose of this protest is as simple as it is crucial: to confront the two Big Lies of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that Global Warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat.

The first thing that he has to say is that the left is very bad. No mention of fascism or even islam.

In the face of the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted, the academic left has mobilized to create sympathy for the enemy and to fight anyone who rallies Americans to defend themselves.

Just look at this quote. If I’m so wrong, why does he think that I’m going to be convinced how wrong I am by characterizing me this way? The framing here is intended to provoke and instigate a fight, not be persuasive.

Conservatives really no longer have the ability to make an argument anymore. All they can do is slander the opposition. But there’s no one left beyond the dead-ender 25% who is listening anymore. I can’t remember the last time I felt like there was a single person in this country who was being convinced by petty childish garbage like this.

  28. Clyde the Ripper says:

It is all a facist Islamic plot to discredit us uncreditable neocons. There really are rallies at those schools but they are clandestine to prevent their disruption by the Islamo-Facist terrists. Don’t you people know nothing?

  29. lefty says:

They use the made-up word “IslamoFascism” in order to change the definition of the word. By painting their “enemies” as being fascist, then in their bipolar, Manichean world in which there is but black and white, they themselves must be something other than fascist. Because both sides can’t be fascist, one side must be good and the other evil.

To me, this is almost a flat out admission that they are fascist.

Conservatives really no longer have the ability to make an argument anymore. All they can do is slander the opposition.

    Comment by lefty — October 23, 2007 @ 4:23 pm

You’re right, lefty. Twelve years of Congressional rule combined with seven years in the White House has exposed their philosophy for what it’s worth.

But here’s a question: how is “Islamofascism” (even if it DID excist as a movement, or even as a combination of conceots that made sense) “the greatest danger Americans have ever confronted“?

How is a radical fringe element of a primarily desert culture a greater threat to us than the combined armies of industrial giant Germany and Japan? How is it a greater threat than the destruction of the union and loss of millions of young men from 1861-65? How is it a greater threat than the Soviet Union posed during the Cold War? You know, the one where they had enough firepower to destroy us hundreds of times over?

The scray thing is, I don’t get that Horowitz is exagerrating. He really believes tat this bogeymen is the biggest and baddest EVAH.

  31. ralph the wonder llama says:

Sorry, that should be “the SCARY thing is”, not the “scray thing is”.

the academic left has mobilized to create sympathy for the enemy and to fight anyone who rallies Americans to defend themselves

When has ANYONE on the left tried to create sympathy for AlQaida?!?!

The only thing that the left has done is tried to prevent the entire faith of Islam from being treated as though they are ALL terrorists. There are over a billion muslims in the world, and several million in the US. If they ALL wanted to kill us we’d already be dead.

  34. lefty says:

It’s not the greatest danger we have ever faced. They don’t really believe this themselves. If they did then we would be doing everything that we have done in the past when confronted with major crises. But we are not. There is no draft, no call to serve in the military, no rationing, no war bonds. All we were ever asked to do is shop. This is all you need to know.

When they say that they are really just trying to justify the radical policies they have processed. It is the PRIMARY justification they use when they have destroyed the rule of law, checks and balances on executive power and other illegal activities.

Since “Islamo-Fascism” seems to be what Republicans want America to be afraid of, what exactly is the Bush Administration doing to combat this scourge? I hope our invasion and occupation of Iraq is not the answer because, by any standard–academic and otherwise–it is a failure. Anything that has as its leader and cherrleader Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle, Bremer and Rove is destined to fail. Even they know its a failure because they bailed on this “mission accomplished” long ago. The only hold-out seems to be Cheney–whose bloodlust has no bounds.

So I wonder how many other schools will denounce their supposed participation in “Islamo-Fascism” week? I bet it will be quite a few.

(W)Horowitz and his right-wing cronies are nothing but a bunch of attention hungry bigots who would lie to promote their racist agenda.

    >What does it prove?

Given the amount of information you’ve given about your supposed identity, it wouldn’t be incredibly hard to find out whether someone fitting your desription named Micheal actually went there during the years you claim to have attended.

You also claim to be a veteran and a millionaire that pays 40 grand in taxes every year…amazing how most millionaires have better things than argue on the internet with people who hate them….
