On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough had on right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh to “talk about the Republican field.” But Limbaugh quickly interjected and said he first had a comment about CNBC business analyst Erin Burnett: “I just heard Erin Burnett sounding a little wifey.” Scarborough laughed and asked Burnett, “What do you think about Rush saying you’re a little wifey today?” “Wifey today he said?” Burnett asked, confused. “Well you were whining,” Rush explained. Watch it:
Limbaugh proceeded to gush over Burnett, stating that she is “fabulous on economics.” “I’m not sucking up here. I’m giving you an honest professional assessment,” Limbaugh said.

Another stalker to Burnett’s list…
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:53 amAnd Rush, the serial husband, really knows about “wifey” matters.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:53 amHonestly, who cares? It’s just one corporate sock puppet talking about another.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:53 amIs Limbaugh another one with multiple wives?
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:55 amI’m glad Rush had something nice to say about Burnett (he rarely has anything nice to say about anyone), but why would he have to temper that with negative stereotypical remarks? What would he have said if Burnett had been male?
Another observation: Rush rarely leaves the security of his broadcast booth where he has complete control of his environment. Yet recently, he’s been willing to go on the shows of others. What’s going on here?
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:59 amRight away I take exception of rush blessing himself as “honest and professional”. Just a talking head, and that ain’t much.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:02 amShe’s sounding a little wifey, he’s sounding a little high.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:03 amNon-Story. We have to stop pointing out every stupid thing this guys says. It was obvious that he was just joking around and she didn’t seem to take it to heart so why should we? Does he belong on the air? NO! But lets only point out the truly ridiculous things he says…
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:04 amAnother observation: Rush rarely leaves the security of his broadcast booth where he has complete control of his environment. Yet recently, he’s been willing to go on the shows of others. What’s going on here?

Going on Joe’s show and on Faux NoNooz, isn’t exactly going into the enemy camp, is it? But, to your point, at least he is SOMEWHERE other than behind his own force shield.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:04 amWTF - this isn’t news.
I hate Rush as much as anybody else, but come on, this is petty and pointless.
Get it off the site.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:04 amI saw that this morning… Rush is retarded.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:06 amThose of you who think we should ignore the Limbaughs, the Coulters, the O’Riely’s of the world in hopes that they’ll just shrivel up and go away ought to read this editorial by Leonard Pitts.

No — he would NEVER go into “enemy” territory. He’s way too cowardly for that. The trolls that post here show more guts.
But to venture out into daylight at all…
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:08 amHeh… Rush sounds awfully like a phony husband.

I got same feel when I read this person saying “I’m giving you an honest professional assessment”
I’ll ask him to first look the definition of these words and then give 3 of his own example.
huh ! MSNBC Morning Joe !!what a waste
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:10 amHow can an illiterate give professional opinion about economics. Well thats Limbaugh.

Too bad it couldn’t have been Limpballs.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:18 amSorry, but Erin’s hot. That is not a sexist comment. That is just a fact. She also is one of the few people who present economics in a way that I, as an average American, find engaging and informative.
Rush had nothing bad to say about her cause she’s not really a person you CAN smear..
YES this is a non-story, but gosh, she is cute!!
:)
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:22 am#22 - and? like i said, dont embolden these idiots. shouting back gives them validity….
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:23 amPlease stop being schlock. This encourages neither thought nor progress.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:23 amIf you don’t think this story is worthy of a thread, then why are you posting here?
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:23 amRush’s equating “wifey” with “whining” is patently sexist, and coming from Rush smacks more than a little of misogyny. Add to that the fact that he has been married three or four times, and I think it is a story. But there sure is a rush of people here trying to persuade us that it isn’t a story.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:25 amBecause it’s not good enough to have the right ideas, having the right actions matters. Everyone is deserving of objective feedback ~ whether they use it is their own choice.

Ranting back at Rush may “embolden” him. Mocking his small pen!s worldview is totally fair game.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:30 amNo, you still will never have a chance with her, fatboy.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:32 amThe truth in his statement was, “I only like listening to myself.”

#32 - yes, short fat man syndrome has ruined him.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:35 amI don’t care what Limbaugh has to say about anything. Why give him more coverage?
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:38 amThere will be another post along in a few minutes.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:40 amThink Progress has all the electrons it needs. It can post on the dinky little things as well as the big things.

Gotta love that librual media kissing drugbaugh’s arse! The librul media strikes again!
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:42 amBurnett probably had to barf after talking to the slimeball.
I love Olbermann and I love/hate Matthews (depends on the day), but MSNBC gives tons of air time to crap like Dumbledore is Gay and now I guess they will give lots of airtime to Limpballs.
What’s next? They try to steal Glenn Beck?
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:44 amI think El Blobbo has been popping too many little blue pills. What a complete azo … and in other news, dog bites man.

October 23rd, 2007 at 11:48 amOh, God. Gag me.
Note to Rush: SHUT THE *BLEEP* UP, YOU MORON!!
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:50 amHonestly, the worst part of Limbaugh’s radio shows for me are when he interacts with female callers that are gushing over him. It’s clear that he is, at best, self conscious around women, and at worst, insecure. On the one hand, it makes him human and relatable, but on the other hand, (as in Shrek the Third or Spider-man 3), no one wants to see the vulnerable / weak side of their heroes.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:51 am.
Overt sexism: Just one of the signs of a Fascist Regime.
.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:52 amWhy they even acknowledge Rush as a human being and actually put him on the show is beyond me. The guy is just garbage entertainment for sick minds.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:00 pmAnd your point is…………?????????????????????????????????
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:01 pmAll that gushing by Joe and Burnett just made me ill this morning. Off with MSNBC in the morning. I’ll watch BBC news, then Cash in the Attic instead.

Agree.
Limbaugh is a fat, obsolete and raucous sack-o-sh*t. What spews from his oxycontin hole is nothing but drivel.
Our elected officials are likely to rubber stamp cheney & chump’s request to spend the equivalent of $400 million a day on his failed invasion of iraq.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:09 pm$400 MILLION A DAY!!!!!!
Now that’s news!
“I’m not sucking up here. †Limbaugh said.
Should read: “I’m just sucking here like I do everywhere.”
Until Limbaugh either has no audience or puts down the microphone, it is imperative that we progressives take him on forcefully and often. To not do so, gives truth to the conservative charge that we don’t defend ourselves and, therefore, can’t be trusted to defend the country. Further, we must counter his distortions with the truth, not 1 truth for every one of his untruths, but by a 100 to 1 ratio.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:20 pm#49, PLC,
I encourage you and your ilk to take on all conservatives “forcefully and often”, because in that role, you are playing the vaccine. None of you are actually strong enough to kill conservativism, and by pounding conservatives, you make them stronger.
The Republican debate was fantastic Sunday night, because they vigorously challenged each other, and they each stood up to their own criticisms. I am very excited about their prospects against such damaged goods as Hill’reh.
Personally, I feel conservatives had been coasting since 1994, and with the slow decline to wimps like Frist and Hastert, had lost their ability to scrap and fight. The loss in 2006 allowed Reps to retool with ferocious leaders like Mitch McConnell and Trent Lott in the Senate and Boehner and Blunt in the House - those are the conservative men that I want to see in the leadership.
Again, I strongly desire that you and yours keep hitting conservatives, so that they NEVER forget who and what you are, and show no mercy when presented with an opportunity to deliver a killing stroke.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:30 pmPardon me while I puke.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:32 pmI agree, PLC.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:33 pmSomeone should have loaned Burnett a baseball bat at that moment, so she could make Lush “whiney”.
Otherwise this is really a non-story.

That’s pretty obvious since the news has come out that those blue pills can cause sudden hearing loss.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:55 pmI suspect Erin Burnett is afraid to actually visit 30 Rock since Scarborough’s coworkers have a way of ending up dead.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:58 pmLimbaugh went after Erin Burnett??? I watched that little tart on Tweety’s program on Sunday and just about lost breakfast listening to her spout right-wing talking points. She’s a total tool of the oligarchs, as her background attests. Limbaugh’s inability to respond to her schtick says everything anyone needs to know about his ability to withstand any sort of challenge to his own personal beliefs.
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:41 pmRush Limbaugh - eww.
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:49 pmCan we all just finally agree that Rush should never be allowed within 500 miles of a television production? Including as a call-in guest? Because he is just flop-sweat awful every single time.
“A little wifey?” Is that supposed to endear him to her? Is she starting to realize yet the downside of playing in the conservative’s yard?
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:46 pmHave you guys ever heard of humor? Oh, I forgot. You guys are offended by everything that’s not PC.
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:08 pmHappy Buttdog Wifey
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:42 pmWhat do you expect from a mysoginist?
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:54 pmRush coined the term “femi-nazi” so it should be expected that the misogynist would so quickly insult a woman.
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:44 pmHe equates wifey with whiney because he believes he is a superior gender. Most of the people who think like him have not progressed much beyond the Neanderthal.
you know sad fact thinkprogress is leaving out about msnbc. Fox news’ republican presidential contest is being more fair to republicans then msnbc is to Mike. They’re blocking him from another debate. CENSORSHIP in America.
very sad. screw msnbc
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:46 pmSounds like Rush is shopping for a new ‘beard’.
October 23rd, 2007 at 7:12 pm*
“A lot of people like to say, scaremonger about China, right? A lot of politicians and I know you talk about that issue all the time. I think people should be careful what they wish for on China — you know, if China were to revalue its currency, or China is to start making, say, toys that don’t have lead in them, or food that isn’t poisonous, their costs of production are going to go up. And that means prices at Walmart, here in the United States, are going to go up too. So, I would say China is our greatest friend right now. They’re keeping prices low, and they’re keeping prices for mortgages low too.”

it’s no wonder limpballs has a silly crush…

October 23rd, 2007 at 10:53 pm>and he can auction it off for charity.
yeah its crazy the things dead people pay for, huh? some old lady trying to impress rush uses 2 million dollars of her dead husbands trust fund to buy a piece of paper and give rush a 2 million dollar tax deduction. im sure the dead guy is very pleased with his purchase…
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:57 pmIt would figure that Rush would gush over Erin Burnett. They are both rightwing nut jobs. She said on CNBC that it would be a good idea to let China continue manufacturing toys with lead paint in them and produce food with poison in it because it keeps prices low at Wal-Mart! I think she said this stupid, cruel thing the time that Chris Mathews leered at her and told her to get closer to the camera. Ick. I don’t see what these guys are making a big deal of. She’s indistinguishable from all the other pretty faces on cable news.
Joe is probably one of the few conservatives that I can stand and seems to have moments of clarity. Last July, when Katherine Harris tried to smear Joe with the “dead intern” card, the Miami Herald covered the story and interviewed Lori Klausutis’ family members and they said they agreed with the official findings and that there was no foul play. Usually in these types of situations, if there is wrong-doing, the family would be pointing fingers at Joe and threatening to sue him or would use the media spotlight to get the case re-opened. This is all really tin foil hat stuff you find on the internet. Google “Clinton Body Count” and you will find sites that Hillary Clinton had an affair with Vince Foster and killed him. Then Bill and Hillary “killed” Ron Brown and about 100 other people, including an intern at Starbucks!
October 24th, 2007 at 9:45 pmRush doesn’t like girls… otherwise, I would think these two would be perfect for each other.
October 24th, 2007 at 10:21 pm>This is all really tin foil hat stuff you find on the internet.
Your an idiot.. a perfectly healthy woman, 30 years old, drops dead in scarborough’s office a few days after he resigns for no reason, and the coroner, who was removed from office for lying in another case, admits he didnt mention her head trauma because he “didnt want 40 questions about a head wound”….
sounds pretty suspicious to me… you have any other reason for saying its “tinfoil hat” stuff other than the brilliant logic of “the family didnt want it pursued therefore it must not be murder”? maybe they were intimidated. maybe they were worried about the same think happening to other members of their family?
October 24th, 2007 at 11:20 pm
