Rice promotes staffers who oversaw Blackwater.

As she accepted the resignation of State’s security chief Tuesday in light of the Blackwater scandal, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice “quietly promoted two senior staffers” with oversight over Blackwater — Justine Sincavage, who oversees “all State Department security contracts for Iraq and Afghanistan” and her predecessor, Kevin Barry.

Promotions should be based on long term performance. Knee jerk reactions based on the perceived wrong doings of Black Water shouldn’t occur. Rice’s action in laudable

    Nevar,

Your comments are reduced to semantic observations? I give you more credit than that.

  7. BearCountry says:

These promotions are beyond the Peter Principle in reality terms. Actually they were doing just what was wanted: oversight in name only. I don’t know why the other guy resigned. He was obviously in line for a promotion and a bonus. This was just more “Heck of a job, Brownie.”

We have an incompetent SoS who is promoting other incompetents. I repeat: this is beyond the Peter Principle.

but isn’t that your “policy” on bombing iran?

  9. hits says:

    republicans hate facts,

Your perception of “gross negligence” is not shared by the State Dept., apparently. Also, your imagination seems pretty fetid – which is consistent with your choice of nickname, I guess

and in a tactical move to win the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people, President George Bush canned current US ambassador in Iraq, Ryan Crocker, and hired the CEO of Blackwater, Erik Prince.

i would imagine that the family members of the 17 dead iraqis don’t like it either. oh yeah, and those 17 dead iraqis also don’t like it.

Hits/Jake will defend ANY behavior his king is involved in. Any behavior at all. The country will suffer, but he don’t care. The planet will suffer, but he don’t care. His childrens education will suffer, but he don’t care. the pollution will kill more and more people, but he don’t care. The planet shuns the US, but he don’t care. Our allies turn away from us, but he don’t care. Our treasury is almost bankrupt, but he don’t care. Children need healthcare, but he don’t care. On and on defending his petulant little boy-king to the detriment of all mankind. He has invested so much of his heart and soul into this administration, he cannot bring himself to even confront basic reasons to wonder about the competence of the administration. my question is simple: What are you going to do when bush is gone to Paraguay? In your simple mind, who will take his place as your next king: limbaugh?, hannity?, coulter?, beck? Which lucky loser will inherit your devotion?

tough talk, indeed. keep it up and you will win the election for 8th grade Class Treasurer for sure.

  26. Veritas says:

Obviously, Shrub’s Candi (oops, Condi), doesn’t realize that people are onto her charades. Promoting someone who is incompetent is the MO of the Entire Bush Administration; after all, Mr. Incompetent is at the head of the class.

  28. Marie says:

I saw some of the hearing this a.m. — it was disgusting.
The republiscum were asking leading questions, providing the background defense for her prepared answer. They defended Blackwater’s tactics — the end justifies the means. They accused Demcorats of being against the troops.
She never answered a question straight – and she took all credit for “committees” investigating certain practices — practices which were exposed by investigations, leaks, etc.
The promotion of two sycophants proves that.
Her committees are a transparent stalling tactic to do nothing.

Yeah, well, I was giving you credit for spelling laudable,
when it might better have been laughable.
Which would have been a comment on semantics

  33. loretta says:

Well, you can certainly understand her (Condi’s) actions, if you take into consideration the events that preceded her OWN promotion.
Wasn’t she in charge of National Security prior to September 11th, 2001?
