Webb: Lieberman and Kyl bring ‘Cheney element’ to Senate.

On MSNBC’s Hardball today, Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) said that his colleagues, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), who introduced a hawkish Iran resolution in the Senate, are “carrying water for the administration, for the hawks inside the administration” by amping up rhetoric in the Senate against Iran. “I don’t think there’s any doubt about that,” said Webb. He then added, “the Cheney element of the administration is well represented in the Senate.” Watch it:

UPDATE: Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) offered a non-binding resolution today “affirming that any offensive military action taken against Iran must be explicitly approved by Congress before such action may be initiated.”

How about a BINDING resolution that any attack by military forces on any other nation is an act of war, and must therefore go through an official declaration of war by congress. That hasn't happened since 1941.

Notice I said "pretty much all".

    Webb is DEFINITELY a PATRIOT.

    So is Joe Wilson.

    So is Richard Clarke.

All THREE were Republicans, now TWO are Democrats, because of the TREASON of Bush and Cheney and their NeoNazi followers.

It's the Chickenhawks I'm talking about.

As far as "the rusher" and the REST of the Nazi propaganda slime,

what do I care if they want to quote this blog?

They'd have to read the TRUTH, and it BURNS THEM like sunlight on a VAMPIRE (Dick Cheney and Robert Novek, e.g).

And I sincerely hope one of the "scumbags" from New Orleans or a VET from California puts a bullet through Beck's head, so that if

blood DOESN'T come out of his eyes, as he promised, it will have an ALTERNATE VENUE.

And if they DO read this:

Bush is a COXUCKER punk TRAITOR to the USA who deserves to be TORTURED in Gitmo until he DROPS DEAD and goes to hell, to be

    with his new MASTER Satan.

Exactly my point. We give the president too much unilateral power with "police actions", "conflicts", and "operations". If our military lands on foreign soil and starts shooting people, that should be considered an official declaration of war.

What is it about these "non binding" things. What possible use could they provide? How about just standing up and telling (not asking) the administration they are not allowed to attack Iran without explicit approval from Congress. Put the WH on notice that any military action against Iran will not be funded and going against the Congress will have Constitutional consequences. Is that so difficult?

I hear you! I went to Vietnam a born Repug and came back cured of that disease after a year of combat and a real eye full of how the Repugs can make lying a major art form.

And I would have to say, Dubya and Darth make Nixon look like a Democrat!

sorry about the OT, and it may be old news, but...

um - did bush make an underhanded cut at the louisiana governor?

i just heard him say, while in california - mostly paraphrasing -
"it makes a significant difference, when you have someone
in the state house to lead"

    wow...

    more "comparisons to new orleans"...
    .

  14. bilbobaggins Says:

Why a non-binding resolution? Why not pass a freakin bill telling the madman in the White House that HE MAY NOT DECLARE WAR ONCE AGAIN WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. It seems to me I remember Nancy Pelosi saying that they would do something to make sure that Bush didn't invade Iran. Well, Nancy, it's time to step up to the plate.

  15. Candyce Says:

    katy, yes he did.

Do you think you might tamp down the use of bold type a little? Or, really, a lot? The point of bold type is to emphasize a word or phrase not an entire comment. You make it difficult to read what you write, which may not be what you intended.

  17. Marcus Aurelius Says:

Maybe they'll contract the war in Iran to Blackwater - I hear their gig in Iraq is giving them bummin' vibes lately.

  18. Spudge Boy Says:

    katy and Candyce,

I I here, very near the Santiago fire. THe only reason Arnold got any thing done is because FEMA was on it right away, along with the DoD and Arnold pulled 900 Nat Guard troops off the border.

    Let's see:

FEMA didn't even know there were people in the Super Dome for 4 days.

The DoD was nowhere to be found in New Orleans

NO got Blackwater instead of Nat Guard.

There is absolutely no comparison. Zip zero, nada, ziltch. Bush is using CA as a photo op to push for his Austrian buddy.

Mukasey's confirmation: a vote about torture

The attorney general nominee's evasive remarks on 'water-boarding' should disqualify him from the job.

    By Jonathan Turley

This week, the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote in favor of Michael Mukasey to be the new U.S. attorney general, sending his nomination to the full Senate for confirmation. What is most surprising is the wave of support from the committee's Democrats, who seem determined to ignore what they clearly view as a minor flaw in the nominee: his refusal to denounce the deplorable practice of "water-boarding" and his apparent willingness to lie to duck the issue.
