Horowitz: There’s a ‘figurative’ noose ‘over my head.’

Speaking at Columbia University today for the culmination of Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, right winger David Horowitz compared the negative reception his campaign has received on campus to the recent incident of a noose being hung on the door of a black professor at Columbia. Horowitz claimed “nooses have been put figuratively on the doors of the College Republicans“:

We’ve had many distractions this semester, and I guess I’m one of them. A recent one was an unfortunate incident of a noose being put on a professor’s door. I think that the campus is right to be concerned about that. But I detect a somewhat of double standard at this university and other’s that I’ve been to, in that nooses have been put figuratively on the doors of the College Republicans here who have invited me. Of course, there’s always a noose over my head by a national hate campaign which has been organized by radical Muslim groups and radical leftist groups.

Watch it:

Apparently for Horowitz, being accused of racism is the equivalent of being the target of racism.

Horowitz is demonstrating how they turn every debate on its head. In their eyes, not allowing Republicans to hate gays is a form of discrimination. Not allowing them to bomb abortion clinics is a restriction of their free speech. Not allowing them to spread lies about Muslims is a hate crime. The Republicans are literally fighting for the right to be bigots.

Has Horowitz been getting death threats? I’m sure there are some people who have hurled insults at Horowitz personally (which aren’t the same as threats), but most of the protest has most likely been against the inflammatory message Horowitz is putting forth. Horowitz should know that hate speech will get that kind of reaction (in fact, he’s counting on it, so he can make himself out to be a victim).

    He’s pathetic. Moving on…

Hm. What did you think of the 911 conspiracy freaks crashing Bill Clinton’s speech the other day? Or the nuts shouting down Bill Maher on his show?

IMHO, if you don’t believe what a person has to say or don’t want to listen to it, you do not have the right (moral, not legal) to show up to a place where they have attracted those that do want to listen with the specific idea in mind of disrupting the speech.

Remember, every Right has a corresponding Responsibility. If you want to be able to assemble peaceably, you have to allow others to do the same. If you want the right to speak your mind, you have to afford others the ability to do the same.

It is unrealistic to expect public figures to drop what they are doing and start debating you, sight unseen, in a previously planned forum. Can any of you imagine a heckler at the Lincoln-Douglas debates just jumping up and yelling any damn thing they wanted? And saying their 1st Amendment rights were being violated when they got pummeled by the crowd?

I was waiting for him to wave a piece of paper claiming to be a list of 200 known radical leftist Muslims currently working in the State Department.

First it was President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran, and now David Horowitz.

Is there any other batshit-crazy nutjob that Columbia University plans to let speak at their campus some time in the near future?

  119. JosephW says:

Well, if it would make Horowitz feel better, he could always show up at a KKK meeting and declare his Jewishness so he could get a literal noose around his neck as well as the figurative one over his head.
Maybe, however, given his “Islamofascism” crusade, we could all chip in to have a sword placed over his head. That just seems more apropos.

  120. Jaded Prole says:

Maybe they should worry. When the American People have finally had enough of their deadly lies and mismanagement today’s fascists may share the fate of Mussolini.

  121. Above the Clouds says:

Horowitz is just staking a stronger claim to his place on the fringe of the GOP with the likes of other fringe elements (see Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, etc.). I think America can clearly see after seven years of Bush and GOP rule what’s wrong with America is not “colleges and universities” “Media MAtters” and “MoveOn.”

  122. amandla says:

Horowitz is a perpetual whiner and this “Islamofascism Week” is simply a personal publicity stunt. He’s always been angry over the fact that he’s usually laughed off of stages and television shows he goes on, and the fact that he’s never been taken seriously by anyone (despite his gargantuan efforts).

I do rather enjoy seeing him flustered and annoyed. I hope people continue to antagonize him wherever he takes his fascist message.

  123. Lefty Patriot says:

He needs to take his message to the nearest loony bin, and keep it there.

  124. Clumberfeet says:

By this time next year the entire Democratic Party and anyone who disagrees with PNAC will be labeled a terrorist.

  125. FEARandSMEAR says:

What or which point in my statement do you disagree with? Specifically. And to what point am I wrong in your view….specifically.
No name calling, personal attacks or spin…where am I wrong?

    Where are you NOT wrong?

You can’t spell, think or write.

The view you’ve pathetically projected onto the left, democrats and Hillary are transparent and sad for you.

There’s the truth, with no name calling.

    Now go blow a goat.
