Speaking at Columbia University today for the culmination of Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week, right winger David Horowitz compared the negative reception his campaign has received on campus to the recent incident of a noose being hung on the door of a black professor at Columbia. Horowitz claimed “nooses have been put figuratively on the doors of the College Republicans“:
We’ve had many distractions this semester, and I guess I’m one of them. A recent one was an unfortunate incident of a noose being put on a professor’s door. I think that the campus is right to be concerned about that. But I detect a somewhat of double standard at this university and other’s that I’ve been to, in that nooses have been put figuratively on the doors of the College Republicans here who have invited me. Of course, there’s always a noose over my head by a national hate campaign which has been organized by radical Muslim groups and radical leftist groups.
Watch it:
Apparently for Horowitz, being accused of racism is the equivalent of being the target of racism.
Dude they are responding to your hate. Hate attracts more hate.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:36 pmDoes this buffoon have dual citizenship with you know *wink wink*.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:37 pmI can think of quite a few examples of innocent people who probably would have thanked god if their nooses were “figurative.”
October 26th, 2007 at 6:38 pmthose poor white supremacists……they are just so persecuted.
i think that was a daily show “bit” already.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:38 pmPerhaps I could be excused for my passing thought that Mr. Horowitz’s noose was a *real* one…?
October 26th, 2007 at 6:39 pmI hear Regent University would be glad to have all those poor persecuted College Republicans and their heroes.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:43 pmYou’re excused, no problem.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:43 pm( I have a confession to make…. maybe later…… ;)
You’ve got to hand it to him. Give him some chutzpah for saying there’s a figurative noose around his head at the same university that invites him to speak.
Maybe he’s taking a cue from the same Islamofascists by claiming the mantle of martyrdom for himself and the conservative movement.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:44 pmI feel so sorry for those devout racists. They simply cannot catch a break in todays toppsy turvy world.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:45 pmSomebody kick that chair he’s on, please.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:45 pmThank you, Nevar. You are an officer and a gentleman. ;o)
It was only a PASSING thought.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:45 pmHorowitz is demonstrating how they turn every debate on its head. In their eyes, not allowing Republicans to hate gays is a form of discrimination. Not allowing them to bomb abortion clinics is a restriction of their free speech. Not allowing them to spread lies about Muslims is a hate crime. The Republicans are literally fighting for the right to be bigots.

October 26th, 2007 at 6:48 pmGee, sounds like Whorowitz has a SERIOUS persecution complex. I wonder where that came from? Maybe his own bigotry has gotten to him? HMMMMM!
October 26th, 2007 at 6:49 pmI would rather put that noose around his neck, and open the trap door. He deserves it.
October 26th, 2007 at 6:50 pmApparently for Horowitz, being accused of racism is the equivalent of being the target of racism.
More to the point, he’s going from an imaginary enemy political construct to an imaginary personal threat to his person.
He wants us to be aware that burka-clad pixies around his head want to lynch him.
Another straitjacket, please.

October 26th, 2007 at 6:53 pmCan we institute a campaign to get a NeoCon Awareness Week on campus, too?
October 26th, 2007 at 6:53 pmA noose hanging over College republicans. That’s an oxymoron.
October 26th, 2007 at 7:01 pmthis year’s “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week” wasn’t nearly as good as last year’s. last year’s was fun-filled and festive, this year’s? eh.

October 26th, 2007 at 7:05 pmPot, meet kettle. This is projection on a larger scale than I often see.
Has Horowitz been getting death threats? I’m sure there are some people who have hurled insults at Horowitz personally (which aren’t the same as threats), but most of the protest has most likely been against the inflammatory message Horowitz is putting forth. Horowitz should know that hate speech will get that kind of reaction (in fact, he’s counting on it, so he can make himself out to be a victim).
He’s pathetic. Moving on…

October 26th, 2007 at 7:25 pmYou fail to see it from his side. The Muslims are inferior people who worship a graven image, rape little children and have an inferior color of skin. Not only that, but it is apparent that God created them as inferiors. Look at their noses. Of course he is upset by the attacks against the simple truth of life.

Hm. What did you think of the 911 conspiracy freaks crashing Bill Clinton’s speech the other day? Or the nuts shouting down Bill Maher on his show?
IMHO, if you don’t believe what a person has to say or don’t want to listen to it, you do not have the right (moral, not legal) to show up to a place where they have attracted those that do want to listen with the specific idea in mind of disrupting the speech.
Remember, every Right has a corresponding Responsibility. If you want to be able to assemble peaceably, you have to allow others to do the same. If you want the right to speak your mind, you have to afford others the ability to do the same.
It is unrealistic to expect public figures to drop what they are doing and start debating you, sight unseen, in a previously planned forum. Can any of you imagine a heckler at the Lincoln-Douglas debates just jumping up and yelling any damn thing they wanted? And saying their 1st Amendment rights were being violated when they got pummeled by the crowd?

that’s fine if you live in the old Soviet Union, k, but here in America, you’re quite entirely wrong in every way. The idea of showing up specifically to disrupt a speech is also freedom of speech, and assembly. you seem to be a bit short on legal AND moral knowledge, as well as patriotism.

October 26th, 2007 at 11:52 pmWell, if it would make Horowitz feel better, he could always show up at a KKK meeting and declare his Jewishness so he could get a literal noose around his neck as well as the figurative one over his head.
October 27th, 2007 at 3:38 amMaybe, however, given his “Islamofascism” crusade, we could all chip in to have a sword placed over his head. That just seems more apropos.
Maybe they should worry. When the American People have finally had enough of their deadly lies and mismanagement today’s fascists may share the fate of Mussolini.
October 27th, 2007 at 7:46 amHorowitz is just staking a stronger claim to his place on the fringe of the GOP with the likes of other fringe elements (see Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, etc.). I think America can clearly see after seven years of Bush and GOP rule what’s wrong with America is not “colleges and universities” “Media MAtters” and “MoveOn.”
October 27th, 2007 at 10:25 amHorowitz is a perpetual whiner and this “Islamofascism Week” is simply a personal publicity stunt. He’s always been angry over the fact that he’s usually laughed off of stages and television shows he goes on, and the fact that he’s never been taken seriously by anyone (despite his gargantuan efforts).
I do rather enjoy seeing him flustered and annoyed. I hope people continue to antagonize him wherever he takes his fascist message.
October 27th, 2007 at 10:34 amHe needs to take his message to the nearest loony bin, and keep it there.
October 27th, 2007 at 11:08 amBy this time next year the entire Democratic Party and anyone who disagrees with PNAC will be labeled a terrorist.
October 27th, 2007 at 12:14 pmWhere are you NOT wrong?
You can’t spell, think or write.
The view you’ve pathetically projected onto the left, democrats and Hillary are transparent and sad for you.
There’s the truth, with no name calling.
Now go blow a goat.
