UN official to probe war killings by contractors, troops.

A U.N. expert has been “invited” by the United States to investigate “whether members of the U.S. military or government contractors such as Blackwater USA violate international law when they kill civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan.” The Iraqi government is currently demanding Blackwater’s expulsion within six months, and increased air strikes in Afghanistan have led to “resentment against U.S. forces.”

And if they say it is a violation of International law to kill civilians? Darth will just tell them to go Cheney themselves.

  4. bilbobaggins says:

Of course they violate international law when they kill Civilians. We violated international law when we invaded Iraq. The problem is that no one does anything about all this violating of international law. It’s about time that someone did!

Whilst I agree w/ the sentiment that the UN is a toothless dog, consider the underlying reality. The US is growing increasingly isolated around the world politically, and Bush’s mindless, self-important saber-rattling has already resulted in a new arms race. Both Russia and China are arming up rapidly. This is not good for anyone, and it is happening.

Ya’ know , much as I dislike these Chimpy nut hugging morons , I’d be willing to accept their adoration of the Shrub for a personal/personality-related excuse , no matter how mind-boggling that may be to me.

But these bags of shit like this michael clown try to use completely illogical nonsense to support the worst president in US history , and it’s generally based upon politicial party affiliation , and nothing else…….

    Screw them.

Why wait until Spring? That means about 8000 dead Iraqis and 400 dead Americans. Maybe more if the conscripted diplomats take a hit. That diplomatic compound is like Israel on the Euphrates.

Perhaps we could get Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly, et al, over there too!

After all, Rush sure is quick to label someone a phony soldier. He should welcome the chance to prove his point, and his “manhood” **cough… cough** don’tcha think? And Beck… don’t forget Glenda Beck…

  16. lefttown says:

I wonder if there will ever come a time when sanctions are placed against the U.S. for violation of international law. We are fast becoming a rogue nation. If we invade Iran, the sh*t might hit the fan. Of course, “impeachment is off the table,” so I guesss we’ll just have to suck it up. Of course, Queen Nancy will still have all her money.

I figure the 30% drop in the value of the dollar since 2002 is an informal international sanction.

#18–”I figure the 30% drop in the value of the dollar since 2002 is an informal international sanction.”

I hadn’t thought of that. That could well be true, and it just might get worse–especially if China doesn’t want us messing with Iran.

    Try this one on mikey:

WASHINGTON – The U.S.-led invasion of Iraq violates the basic rules of the United Nations Charter requiring countries to exhaust all peaceful means of maintaining global security before taking military action, and permitting the use of force in self-defense only in response to actual or imminent attack, two U.S. legal groups said Thursday.

The U.N. Security Council’s refusal to approve a resolution proposed by the United States, Britain and Spain clarified that the weapons inspection process initiated by Security Council Resolution 1441 last November should have been permitted to continue before military action could be authorized, added The Lawyers’ Committee on Nuclear Policy (LCNP) and the Western States Legal Foundation (WSLF).

So, michael, it looks like Bush has managed to violate so many laws, you can’t keep up with them! Your sorry ass has been handed to you again. You are left with nothing, as usual. Angela Davis is a patriot, and you are a treasonous fool. You must feel terribly inadequate; get used to it.

  25. Lefty Patriot says:

eppers, no bias in these two organizations.

Raise your hand if you have EVER heard of these two groups before upside posted them tonight. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

yes, bias towards peaceful negotiations instead of mass murder. those two organizations make you neandertals look pretty sad and weak, especially you and michael, two cowards who refuse to fight for your convictions. pussies like you are a waste of carbon, and have no sway in the USA.

    – No one said anything about “peace at all costs”, nimrod. You’re putting up a strawman.

dictatorships won’t and don’t keep their word when the biggest threat they face is getting hugged too hard.

    – Which dictator? WTF are you talking about? You’re not making any sense here.

Human nature is what it is, until that changes the stick is still important as a back-up to the carrot.

    – Indeed, and that is why we shall severely punish the GOP when this is over. They simply won’t learn any other way!

As for the rest of your screed, I’m interested to know how you know so much about me from just a few posts, or was your attack merely a simple-minded act of striking out at an opponent?

Well, it is obvious you’re quite confused and apparently have no idea what you’re talking about. I suggest you go home and think things over, maybe come back some year when you’ve got your thoughts straightened out, and TRY AGAIN!

it’s rather easy to figure out the pathology of rightwing cowards. you are pathetically unimaginative, as well as misinformed. Your “carrot and stick” bullshit is exactly why you and Bush are losing three wars simultaneously. the only upside is that you have allowed him the latitude to destroy your party and its power base, instead of being patriots and impeaching his sorry ass. I do know a lot more about you than you would be comfortable with, but you’ll just have to live with that in your piss-stained basement cot. Cowards lie hyou and michael are hot air, and easy to deflate. You’re finished.

  33. bilbobaggins says:

And I’ll keep saying “why” “which one” “explain” until I get intelligent answers!
    Comment by michael

You know loon michael. The only answer you would consider intelligent would be an answer that you agree with. Therefore, why should we bother? You are a two year old saying “why” just to annoy your parents.

  34. bilbobaggins says:

Hey loon michael, here you go. Even one of your own admits invading Iraq was illegal:

International lawyers and anti-war campaigners reacted with astonishment yesterday after the influential Pentagon hawk Richard Perle conceded that the invasion of Iraq had been illegal.

In a startling break with the official White House and Downing Street lines, Mr Perle told an audience in London: “I think in this case international law stood in the way of doing the right thing.”

President George Bush has consistently argued that the war was legal either because of existing UN security council resolutions on Iraq – also the British government’s publicly stated view – or as an act of self-defence permitted by international law.

But Mr Perle, a key member of the defence policy board, which advises the US defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, said that “international law … would have required us to leave Saddam Hussein alone”, and this would have been morally unacceptable.

French intransigence, he added, meant there had been “no practical mechanism consistent with the rules of the UN for dealing with Saddam Hussein”.

  35. Lefty Patriot says:

Yeah, that won’t be good enough for michael’s 2-year-old viewpoint; he’ll need to know exactly what international law was broken. It’s much like trying to reason with your fries.

dude… ignore micheal’s demands for evidence, nothing will shut him up or change his thinking. you cite a website also cited by dick cheney in the 2004 debates and he calls it left wing slander simply because it demolishes one of his retarded straw man talking points.

in the rare instance he does more than ask imbecillic questions, he rants and raves about how the poor EMBRYOS have to suffer becaues of mommys bad decision to abort them, but he has no sympathy for sick CHILDREN who have to suffer because of mommy bad decision to have them even though she can’t afford health insurance for them.

why the poor little clump of cells gets mikeys sympathy but the living breathing child doesnt makes no sense.

    micheal makes no sense.

hes a joke, a fraud, and a faker, whose actually so deluded that he thinks the stuff you learn in high school is the stuff that determines where you end up in life. no one with an education beyond high school could seriously beleive that..

he’s a walking contradiction and a hollow shell of a little boy who tries to make his point with the caps locks key and convince us that he’s really a jetsetting veteran millionaire who has nothing better to do with his time than ask questions ad nauseam that have been addressed and answered dozens of times
