The Senate last week voted on the nomination of Henrietta Holsman Fore to head USAID. She replaces Randall Tobias, who resigned after his name was linked to the D.C. Madam’s escort service. The sole GOP vote against Tobias’s replacement? Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), whose number also appeared on the DC Madam’s phone records.
One perv supporting another? Typical GOP move.
October 29th, 2007 at 9:51 amSo–Pant-load Vitter made another poopie? His movements are regular, at least.
October 29th, 2007 at 9:57 amVitter is representative of today’s GOP. Privately immoral and a defiant unrepentant hypocrite publically. There is little if any differcence between a sexual whore and a political whore. Except a sexual whore is more honest.

October 29th, 2007 at 10:04 amLet’s be fair, TP. We don’t know why Vitter voted against Fore. Since Tobias is already gone, voting against Fore would do nothing to benefit him.
There are plenty of good reasons to vote against Fore, but I admit that Vitter casting the lone dissenting GOP vote is suspicious.
Maybe Vitter doesn’t agree with Fore that “Hispanics are lazy”?
October 29th, 2007 at 10:05 amFYI – the Roll Call link is going to the Sheldon Whitehouse/Puma story.

Or maybe he couldn’t get the voting machine to work, what with all the cards and buttons and lights and the beeping. You know how white people are with machines.

Bring back the guillotine.
October 29th, 2007 at 10:08 amAnd the numbers of Madam were listed under’Family Value’…
October 29th, 2007 at 10:27 amI keep picturing Vitter in a diaper, tapping on Craig’s stall wall.

Misquote her often enough, and eventually some of the people will believe you.

I think she also threatened to wipe Israel off the map, and told college students to study hard or they’d get stuck in Iraq.

You’re quite right — I only have the New York Times’ word for it that she claimed Hispanics were lazy in a 1987 speech.
If you have a link to the NYT correction they ran apologizing for “misquoting” her, or if you have any link to her apologizing for her comments twenty years ago, by all means, post it.
If there’s no evidence she wasn’t misquoted in the first place, or if she has never repudiated or “clarified” her original comments, I assume her comments stand as is — even though they’re 20 years old.
October 29th, 2007 at 10:36 amEw TP, don’t use the words “stick” and “Vitter” in the same headline.
October 29th, 2007 at 10:42 am:P
Why doesn’t this story get more airplay in the media? Granted, I live in Utah, but I have heard Larry Craig over and over, and yet not a peep about Vitter.
October 29th, 2007 at 11:01 amThere ya go: Republican morals and values in action!!

October 29th, 2007 at 11:06 amTo the trolls of wingnuttia, the NYT is a rag full of “fake and/or inaccurate” stories — except when said NYT was beating the drums for war in Iraq.
