The National Security Archive filed a motion seeking “expedited discovery against the Executive Office of the President to find out what e-mails are missing from the White House e-mail system or backup tapes.” The motion is meant to ensure that the White House cannot “render judicial preservation decisions meaningless.” The nonpartisan watchdog group CREW also has a pending lawsuit against the White House and other executive agencies over the missing e-mails.

I agree with you 100 percent. What irks me is the fact that TP seems to attract only very low quality trolls.
October 29th, 2007 at 1:17 pmThis is cruicial. The blatant abuse of power has gone unchecked far too long. We the people need to push for these emails as well as the ones that were sent by Rove thru the RNC that were for “official” govt. business.

October 29th, 2007 at 1:34 pmI like that idea of simply ignoring the trolls.
I had an interesting conversation with a RNC operative here in California this weekend. I asked about the trolls and their ability to de-rail the topic or conversation of a blog thread. The guy actually reached across the table (we were in a restaurant) and swatted me in the forehead and said “DUH!, why do you think they are there?”.
I asked him about rumors of trolls being paid to keep the dialog focused on their insane rants, rather than the actual topic of the post. He said that is done all the time to keep the progressives “off balance” and their threads confusing for newer bloggers. If newer bloggers see the environment “out of control” or based on “name calling” the newbies might go somewhere else to get their viewpoints. Maybe even to a right side blog.
The guy said that popular blogs like TP, MediaMatters, DailyKos and the like are getting too much traffic and the trolls job is to make sure the discussion falls off topic and into the gutter. Kinda like we see here with TCDon, Billy Hill, hits, etc…He wouldn’t say how much they get paid, but they are recruited to disrupt the threads as best they can. The guy compared trolls to bullies: if you ignore them – or beat the sh@t out of them – they will leave and find another place to disrupt. They will also blog under many names to keep us fighting with them.
Lets take this advice to heart. Ignore the trolls. I know it can be difficult because they say such obnoxious things, but remember that is their plan: To disrupt the discussion and keep us off topic. It’s called distraction, and we see it with the current administration all the time. It figures they would try stuff like this instead of engaging in a useful dialog.
I’m going to ignore the trolls, how about you?

October 29th, 2007 at 1:48 pmHave they recovered the documents Sandy Berger stole from the National Archives to protect the Clintons?
Comment by TCDon — October 29, 2007 @ 1:03 p
TCDon, I already explained to you in considerable detail some months ago that Berger made copies of the documents in quesion, and that he never removed the originals from the archive. He did this to help prepare for his testimony. He subsequently destroyed the copies. There was never any attempt to destroy or remove originals. This is all well documented and irrefutable. But you have chosen to raise this canard again. Therefore I am calling you a deliberate liar. You lie for a cause, TCDon, the cause of protecting your beloved President. There is no worse kind of liar. Now that you have completely shot your credibility here (as if you ever had any) please crawl back under your rock. You have absolutely nothing to contribute here. You are intellectually dishonest and an all-around intellectual coward.
October 29th, 2007 at 1:50 pm“troll buster & StratRat – is that why they’re so bitter? They rely on tiny little paychecks from the GOP to hang around where they’re not wanted?”
If they are being paid then this is just another example of the republicans not spending money wisely.
October 29th, 2007 at 1:51 pmThe stupid trolls here continue to claim that Sandy Berger stole documents from the archives when that story has been totally debunked. He took copies of his OWN work and the archives has lost nothing. He should not have taken even his own work, but he did and has paid the price. Trolls simply can’t accept the truth.
If the Sibel Edmonds story is ever allowed to see the light of day, the trolls will be forced to shut up as they will be unable to protect and cover for the traitors in their ranks.

October 29th, 2007 at 1:55 pmComment by missmolly — October 29, 2007 @ 1:36 pm
That is something that the republicans are most likely very worried about. When a Democrat becomes president there will be a mountain of precedents that the republicans have only themselves to blame.
Oh what a tangled web we weave…..
October 29th, 2007 at 1:55 pmI think the trolls make an excellent foil for the truth. They put out the same simplistic Fox News-RNC talking points over and over (there are only so many to work with) and the truth rears up and smashes these talking points every time. Then those lurkers who might have been wondering whether there is merit to the talking points get a solid education in reality. So thank you, TCDon, for doing your little inadvertant part to discredit the propaganda ministry.

In order to be factual, you sould have said “Have they recovered the copy of the documents . . .”
Then again, if a lie is repeated enough times, people will assume it’s true.
October 29th, 2007 at 1:59 pmNow let’s get back on topic, TCDon: tell your masters that those emails will never disappear, and eventually will be found and made public. And then the indictments will begin to flow.

October 29th, 2007 at 2:02 pmI don’t think TCDon is being paid by anyone. He is just some RedState puke who volunteered. Exley and Hits are good examples of paid trolls, though they have completely different styles. Exley is a disinformation specialist, whereas Hits is just a grenade thrower.
October 29th, 2007 at 2:03 pmthose emails are to be kept for the people. If they weren’t then Bush has violated his oath of office (yes, I know but this one should stick).
He is not above the Constitution and our laws.
October 29th, 2007 at 2:04 pmI don’t think the RNC pays trolls to come here – I think they brainwash them into volunteering for the mission. And because of their lack of ability ot think logically and see the truth, they have come to believe that they are performing a “noble service.”
October 29th, 2007 at 2:05 pmRNC never pays for something they can get at no cost except for some creative lies and spin.

Actually Mary, that subject came up also. Basically he explained it like Amway: One or two “veteran” trolls get others to do as they do. Once the downline trolls get going, they are encouraged to find other folks who have time on their hands and not much to say. That was the guys main point: You won’t find these trolls engaging the topic; that is not their job. Their job is to keep YOU from engaging the topic. That is the whole scheme. If all we do is spar with the iodots, we lose our momentum, and our ability to convince others who might be receptive to our positions. It is the “fence sitters” this whole thing is designed for, not the folks who already made up their minds.
The right side is terrified of progressive blogs. More and more Americans – right and left – are looking to blogs for information and facts. You and I know that information and facts would be the death knell for the most republican candidates. So instead of communicating their positions, republicans find it easier – and more fun – to distract and sully the reputation of the messenger.
October 29th, 2007 at 2:06 pmLast night the little trolls were crying that they were being denied their right of free speech simply because they were outed.
October 29th, 2007 at 2:07 pmIt certainly is true that progressive blogs are taking a toll on the right. Otherwise the wingers would not be so obsessed with them. Every time scum like O’Reilly and Limbaugh and anyone at the Fox propaganda ministry says something negative about progressive blogs, we all win. Their fear is palpable. Steve Boylan is so afraid of the damage caused by blogs to his own propaganda unit that he got very drunk and sent a crazy email to Glenn Greenwald that has him scurrying for cover now.
October 29th, 2007 at 2:15 pmI hope to God that they nail these fascists Pukes to the wall.

sarcasm/off
October 29th, 2007 at 2:43 pm$10,000 dollar reward still on the table to prove that Bush served his entire tour of duty. Still no takers.
TCDon, Bush didn’t complete his service. He went AWOL and it was covered up. Nobody can place Bush at the Alabama Air National Guard during the times he was supposed to be there. Nobody.
October 29th, 2007 at 2:55 pmWe really do need to ignore the trolls. Come on, if you cannot understand the purpose of the Berger claims or comparing draft eligible Bushes’ service in the Champaign unit of the TANG, then you are just furthering their purpose.
Now to the topic. Some people learned the right lessons from their experience during the Watergate. John Dean comes to mind. However, the Republican party generally learned the wrong lesson. Note how many of George’s senior staff date back to the Watergate era. Instead of learning that bribes, dirty tricks, misuse of federal power and other such tyrannical tactics were improper, most Republicans simply learned that they should have covered their tracks better.
I am not going to let off the Democrats either. They have done their share of things as well. However, the Democrats usually show a remorse for their transgressions. The Republicans always want to take any unethical or illegal tactic to the next level.
October 29th, 2007 at 3:16 pmTCDon sez:
The documents’ authenticity could not be verified. That’s quite a bit different from the documents being proven forgeries, as you assert…but I’m sure such a distinction is lost on you.
If you’re so certain Chimpy didn’t go AWOL, then it should be a trivial matter for you to present the proof. Hellinabucket’s offer of $10,000 should make it worth your while…

Which is why I think the Bush team organized this whole thing. Making obvious forgeries of real documents and real information that exists enables the spin team to focus the argument on the forgeries instead of the real information. By discrediting the forgeries, you can discredit the information.
Dan Rather and CBS obliged by falling into their trap completely. Shame on them.
October 29th, 2007 at 3:34 pmhttp://www.doonesbury.com/strip/bush_guard.html.
Bush has never proven his service. Bush is phony. I don’t care about Dan Rather and the “forged” documents. The doesn’t prove Bush was there. Bush wasn’t at the Air National Guard. He was tying a massive drunk and snort fest on while working for one of daddy’s friends campaign.
Bush was AWOL and can’t prove he ever served his entire tour.
Go take the challange TCDon, even if you don’t need the money.
October 29th, 2007 at 3:40 pmHow many deferments did Deadeye Dick get? Isn’t that the same Dick Cheney that said he didn’t want to see soldiers’ lives wasted to hunt down Saddam? The same Dirty mouth Dick that swore on the floor of the Senate?
damn.
October 29th, 2007 at 3:41 pmBush says he’s released all his records…if that’s true, then has anyone seen:
Any pages from Bush’s flight log?
Records from the Flight Inquiry Board convened after Bush was suspended as a pilot?
Any evidence of Bush’s reclassification into another AFSC after suspension as a pilot?
Any photos of George Bush in a military uniform after 1972?
Anything at all from any Alabama unit with Bush’s name on it?
Any copies of form 44a from the Alabama National Guard certifying attendance?
Air Force Form 142 (Aviation Service Audit Worksheet)?
Anything proving service (not just receipt of pay) by Bush between May 1972 and May 1973?
Bush can’t provide these because they don’t exist. Bush was AWOL.
October 29th, 2007 at 3:46 pm>When you make an accusation, it is up to you to prove it.
Tampon Don is a moron of the highest order. When the allegation is that something didnt happen, it is not up to the the person claiming something didnt happen to prove anything. You prove bush served in Alamaba Tampon Don. Theres a reward out there for proof, maybe you can collect it.
And what do you have to say about the secretary who confirmed that the contents of the documents were true even though she didnt beleive the documents were genuine?
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/15/60II/main643768.shtml
“Now, another voice – a credible voice – has entered the debate. Killian’s secretary, Marian Carr Knox, describes herself as Killian’s “right hand” during much of the 1970s.
She flew to New York Wednesday afternoon to tell 60 Minutes that she believes the documents we obtained are not authentic.
But there’s yet another confusing twist to this story. She told Correspondent Dan Rather that she believes what the documents actually say is exactly as we reported.
——————————————————————————–
Knox is 86 years old, and completely comfortable in the eye of a storm. She spent more than two decades keeping pilots and officers in line at Ellington Air Force Base in Houston. Now, she wants to set the record straight about the memos that CBS News obtained.
Knox says she didn’t type these memos, but she says she did type ones that contained the same information.
“I know that I didn’t type them,” says Knox. “However, the information in those is correct.â€
Knox says the information in the four memos that CBS obtained is very familiar, but she doesn’t believe the memos are authentic. She does, however, remember Killian being upset over Mr. Bush’s failure to take a physical. “
