Also, for crying out loud, there are multiple definitions to the word “moderation”. I do consider myself moderate, as I am more socially liberal, but overall more fiscally conservative. I do certainly lean more towards the left, and I have no problems whatsoever expressing that. Funny for some people jump all over a name, without bothering to absorb either the entire meaning, or, if it has multiple meanings, without finding out which meaning was intended.

Would you prefer if I refer to you as “TCDon”, or just, “Don”?

Apparently none of us can read properly tonight. :/ Apology for not seeing my apology and going off on me as I did with you accepted. Sorry, you must understand that on (far) more than one occasion, someone has claimed to be Ivy League, or military, or something else they are not, and busted on it. Since you didn’t quote who you were answering, it looked simply like you were listing your credentials. It wasn’t until I saw the post in which you mention the diplomas were on “his” wall, that I went back and tracked down who you were originally asking.

A for Harvard legacies, they most certainly do exist. As with all legacy institutions, present unbalance, allowing the best and brightest universities to be filled with the best and brightest students…oh, yeah, and a bunch of legacies ranging from brilliant to inept. The entire concept of any sort of weight being given to a prospective student merely because one or more parent also went to that school, and donate(d) money to that school, is abhorrent.

Yale is much better about it, to be certain. And while they say they do not guarantee admission to legacy students, pointing it out to the person in charge of admissions for that prospective student would seem to indicate a conflict of interest, nonetheless. Also, Yale itself seems to think that Legacy students in general do indeed do poorly. Yale itself also happens to (currently) be an exception to that rule, which is great. But was that so in Bush’s case? I have no idea, and I am perfectly fine admitting that.

I will also refer you to all of the other posters who so obligingly pointed out that Bush is a L-E-G-A-C-Y entry to Yale and Harvard. With his published grades from high school, and test scores, he would never, ever, EVER have a SHOT at receiving an INTERVIEW before an Ivy League school, much less make it in.

Isn’t it astounding, ladies and gentlemen? We have in our presence yet another illustrious graduate of the Ivy League (two times over, no less…WOW!) who manages to spend many hours online during the day posting the comments section of a “progressive” site.

How many is that now? Oh, right. All of them…

I surely do hope that someone else isn’t paying *cough* for his time online. I know if I were the boss, and I saw someone posting on internet forums every time I caught them unawares at their desk, I’d get pretty pissed at the bastard stealing from either the owner of the company or their stockholders.

Why, I’d almost think we were wasting as much time listening to bald-faced lies of trolls screaming, “Wolf!” at the top of their lungs as the 109th Congress did while they were in session. Oh…wait, that’s right, we were talking about the 110th Congress.

Once again I’ll ask – Has Bush and his wingnut cronies done anything except spend a trillion dollars we didn’t have and get us into a war we shouldn’t be in?

The list is endless right here in these United States.

The House of Representatives has wasted valuable time on a constant stream of investigations and the Senate has wasted valuable time on an endless series of failed votes to pull our troops out of Iraq. And yet there’s important work to be done on behalf of the American people.

This idiot is insane! And a megalomaniac to boot! A president in total fantasy with his finger on the hot button of war. I’d liken him to “Dr. Strangelove” but he would be to chicken to ride the bomb.

I’m sure it will come out again from time to time but it really serves no purpose other than to vent.

Politics has become to Visceral(?) and one person can’t tell another person what to think.

I want what’s best for the country and I’m convinced it’s not only going to come from one political party or the other (or a third, or fourth for that matter).

What I do know now is that the use of military force in Iraq was not called for, has never been justified and the american public doesn’t want to come to grips with this. The republicans successfully wrapped the invasion of Iraq with the greater “terror” threat. This will hurt our country for years to come. War is nothing to go into the way Bush did. It’s a pity that faith to party had trumped faith to country.

Agreed…I had a ‘discussion’ with a poster (I think it was Chris L) on another the other day about the detainees in Guantanamo. He explained some things about which I was unaware. It was interesting. Such discussions are much more illuminating than the posting battles of “Nazi,’ “leftard,” “fascist,” and various forms of name-calling that so often dominate threads. Disagreement…Even strong disagreement… can be very engaging and educational. Name-calling is just boring.
