GOP candidates postpone another minority debate.

Last month, the four Republican presidential frontrunners skipped a PBS debate hosted by Tavis Smiley that would have been the first time they answered questions from “a panel exclusively comprised of journalists of color.” At the time, Smiley said the snubbing was part of a “pattern” of “disrespect” towards “black and brown Americans.” Today, the Huffington Post reports that the GOP candidates are now postponing another black voter forum due to “scheduling conflicts.”

Tough to avoid “scheduling conflicts” when you delay filling out your schedule until it’s discovered what day the black voter forum is , isn’t it ?

  2. Veritas says:

They’re not concerned about the black vote because they already have the “fix” in place – between vote caging as they’ve done before and outright hacking into the computers primarily in black districts, they have absolutely no reason to appease any minority segment of the population.

  3. Leftside Annie says:

    Gee. What a surprise.

  4. Badmoodman says:

“scheduling conflicts.” – – The Republican candidates are going hunting at ANY lodge that displays a Confederate flag.

  5. Jason M. Hendler says:

I agree with Reps avoiding these and other forums that will undoubtably be hostile to their campaigns. Reps are the party of Alexander Hamilton, who didn’t own slaves, versus Thomas Jefferson, who owned and had sex with them. Reps are the party of Abraham Lincoln, who ended slavery.

All this is consistent with their belief that each individual is personally responsible for themselves, regardless of race, sex, religion, etc. As such, Reps will never be able to “out bid” Dems as to what they are willing to take from one person and distribute to another, because that runs contrary to their belief of personal responsibility.

  6. Veritas says:

Just do the math in Ohio in the 2004 election – people are sitting in prison for what they did to corrupt the vote count. Any day now Kenneth Blackwell, State Supervisor of Elections for Ohio as well as Bush/Cheney Director 04 should be going to prison. His compadres are ratting him out. Everyone knows that the Ohio numbers were being sent to a bank in Tennessee which, ironically, went “down” when Kerry was leading in Ohio….oops! And one and a half hours later, it magically came back online showing GWB as the winner in Ohio. If that ain’t “home cookin’” nothing is. Can’t wait for the criminals who facilitated this overt contamination of our constitutional right to have our votes counted properly sit in an orange jumpsuit in prison.

Then we can move into the Feeney-Jeb Bush-Katherine Harris debacle and the corruption which took place there in 2000.

  7. Veritas says:

Get the word out: GOP is “vote caging” once again! That, and already corrupting the DRE’s to run through the RNC’s data base as they did in 2004 in a bank in Tennessee.

  8. Shayne says:

Really they’ve already caged the majority of black voters, especially the black soldiers overseas, so why worry about them. Which Stepford Negro will show up on television tonight to tell us it’s a good thing they’re skipping these debates?

  9. Veritas says:

The way I figure it a good number of the Bush family will someday soon be sitting in prison. Once the real “man behind the curtain at Oz”, aka Bush 41 is outed for his criminal activities, that will make three! Now Laura is telling the world that she’s been involved in “policy making” so it may very well end up being 4 Bush’s in jumpsuits.

  10. Veritas says:

Shayne: You’re absolutely right! And what’s being done about this catastrophe and bastardization of our democracy?? Zippo! We’re Phucked.

  11. Jason M. Hendler says:

    #8, Shayne,

    “Stepford Negro”?

I wish blacks would pay more attention to how liberal nutrooters speak about them. I know Jews acknowledge your rampant anti-semitism, but we all know it goes further and runs deeper than that. You are not above disparaging blacks, Jews and homosexuals, when it is to your political advantage.

When are you going to have a name for the collective that does not adhere to your doctrine? Jews have gentiles, Christians have heathens and Muslims have infidels, so what name will you give to these non-converts to your religion?

  12. SP Biloxi says:

Even a caveman blind in one eye knows that the GOP candidates just don’t want to debate in a minority forum period. When Bush snubbed the NAACP events in his first term and part of his second term, he used the same lame excuse: schedule conflict. But, never theless, the GOP candidates constant skipping out on the minority debates will come back to bite them in the butt when the minority votes are needed in the primaries.

  13. Menehune says:

They would have us believe they are all such tough guys. They’re really, really afraid of black people.

  14. TRDaggett says:

And hopefully voters will not vote for those Republicans because of ‘humanity’ conflicts.

  15. GregM says:

The GOP still uses the southern strategy so they could care less about getting the black vote.

  16. YouCantHandleDaTruth says:

Why doesn’t all of the GOP candidates just say they hate the “n-word” and don’t want anything to do with them, that would be at least upfront.

  17. Vet says:

Veritas and Shayne are hitting the nail on the head. Anyone who doesn’t know the whole story behing FL and OH absolutely NEEDS to read Grag Palast’s book Armed Madhouse.

If the election is even remotely close, the Repukes will steal the election again.

  18. Jason M. Hendler says:

    #17, Vet,

Yeah, and your “late returns” from urban areas that skewed elections towards your candidates in 2006 were on the up and up. I noticed bloggers were awful quiet about the “surprise wins”, when the numbers from those areas were so disproportionately Democrat, even for those districts, vs historical trends.

Doesn’t matter, next election won’t be close. With Dem Congress at record lows, and Hill’reh having the highest negatives of any Prez candidate, you won’t have a chance in 2008.

  21. Keith says:

It was much more fun for the conservatives in the ole days when they could just lynch or shoot any Black who got “uppity”–like attempting to register to vote or looking you in the eye.

Using caging lists or Texas database companies or just not giving them enough machines at their precinct—just ain’t as fun!

  22. Keith says:

And Kenneth Blackwell is Black! How self-hating does he have to be?!

  23. Keith says:

    Newsflash,
What did I say that was not true?

  24. hellinabucket says:

Newsflash, brilliant. Such a short response to nothing. Now why are the Republicans dodging this?

  25. Keith says:

    Newsflash, I’m waiting.

  26. Dave C says:

Is it any wonder the Reps use caging & other methods to exclude the black vote. They don’t pander to black voters because they don’t plan to count their votes.

  27. Keith says:

Mr. Blackwell gave the Black precincts insufficient machines and the worst machines–ones that broke down. White precincts voted in ten minutes. Black precincts had to wait twelve hours in the pouring rain.

  28. Keith says:

Mr. Blackwell also gave them machines made by a company whose CEO swore that he would do anything to insure that Bush won the election.

  29. Keith says:

Exit polls which are accurate to 0.2% said Kerry won Ohio by 3% and the entire nation by 3%.

  30. Keith says:

Since conservatives used to flat out murder any Black who attempted to register to vote—-if you think they would not stoop so low as to give them bad machines—-then you are pretty stupid!

  31. Jackie says:

To bad the GOP can’t count. 2/3 of the voters are minorities. This racist attitude isn’t what most Americans are about. The GOP candidates will have to ask for minority votes even if they stop some from voting. But the bigger problem will be those Americans who aren’t prejudice will show the GOP that the US isn’t controlled by the GOP KKK. The good old boys will get a wake up call that the South will not raise again.

  32. tarazan says:

Just don’t bother to invite GOP candidates for a debate…If they don’t come after two invitations..then it is obvious that they don’t care.

  33. Keith says:

    Newsflash,
There were about 3,000 lynchings in the US. I didn’t make that up. If you say there was not, then YOU are talking out of your bum!

  34. Keith says:

They don’t come because they hate the questions and audience response that might wind up on the evening news.

The fear they have is that they might offer to perform oral sex on a black man and pay for the pleasure.

Perhaps the republicans are wary of being backed into a corner, we know they prefer facing inward in a bathroom stall.

  39. Sean D. Martin says:

tarazan: “Just don’t bother to invite GOP candidates for a debate…If they don’t come after two invitations..then it is obvious that they don’t care.

No. Exactly the wrong thing to do. They want this to disappear and be forgotten.

You want to keep inviting them, keep having them avoid showing up. They’ll keep demonstrating that they don’t want to face minority voters, or eventually they’ll show up (and the first question should be “What took you so long?”)

Same thing the Dems Congress should do whenever Bush threatens a veto or the Repubs threaten a filibuster. Don’t throw up your hands and say “Why bother then?” Instead the response should be “Fine, Go ahead. We’re going to make you actually do that. Let the whole country see how you’re vetoing S-CHIP over and over and over again.” Let the whole country see that it is in fact the Repubs who are stopping Congress from doing much by making them actually filibuster. Giving in just makes it possible for them to paint the Dems as the do-nothing party.

  40. Alejandro says:

“a panel exclusively comprised of journalists of color.”

    How racist. (and bad grammar)

  41. Bush_is_a_Moron says:

It looks like the GOPerverts are again suffering from an acute case of Stupid White Men Disease (SWMD). They can’t see no further than their noses. Continue digging you party deeper into the abyss, fools!
