Approximate number of Iraqi refugees the United States accepted in October, “well short of the Bush administration’s stated goal of 1,000 a month. … The figure also marks a decline from September, when 889 refugees were admitted.”
The number of Iraqis killed in insurgent and sectarian attacks rose in October, according to government figures obtained on Thursday, in a blow to a nine-month-old US troop surge policy.
At least 887 Iraqis were killed last month, compared to 840 in September, according to the data compiled by the interior, defence and health ministries.

So twice the amount of Iraqi human beings are killed compared to the number we allow into this country. How can this ever be considered to be an improving situation.
I hope I am not OFF TOPIC, but getting tired of EVERYONE KNOWING how this admin has taken us down the wrong road, so many talk and nothing happens. Granted they have phone calls of all of their family on record and almost have something on all of them, it is their time to be strong and speak up, I am referring to Congress, the one’s we voted in.
Take the hit, it’s not going to be as bad sa Cheney and Rove tried to make it!
Make a stand! Please.
To accept Iraqi refugees is to admit error. That is something this administration is absolutely loath to do. Conversely, over 4800 Cubans were able to apply for residency in 2007, after application of the wet foot-dry foot policy. These are NOT coming in under any legal immigration policy, I might point out.
Well, I guess things are so wonderful in Iraq that the Iraqis have decided they’d prefer to stay there.
Maybe they don’t trust that the word of the US govt.
Or then again, maybe this is just another one of Bush’ empty promises – all talk no follow through.
In other news today, the head of British foreign intelligence (MI6) at time of invasion, Sir Richard Dearlove, said Bush administration claims of links between Saddam and al Qaeda were FALSE.
Interestingly off-topic, Jimmy Carter’s lowest approval rating was 41%, in ‘79, I think. When is the last time Bush was at 40%. It’s too long ago to remember! And the only way he’d reach 40% again is if he personally shot Cheney in the face, then turned the gun on himself.
2 Billion: Approximate number of people around the world and in the U.S who want to see George W.Bush hung for war crimes. Toss his drug addled wife into the mix and it may yet be 2.5 billion.
Your gonna die Georgy…..and the world will rejoice.
If you were Iraqi, would you rather deal with ethnic violence, income disparity, corrupt law enforcement, and political insanity… or move to Los Angeles?
They’re saving all the room for the Iranian refugees…. *rimshot*
November 1st, 2007 at 8:31 pmYa see, if you accept less Iraqis, it means the surge is working . . .*swish*
