Today is the last day on the job for Shannen Coffin, Vice President Cheney’s counsel. Coffin joined Cheney’s team in 2005 to replace David Addington. Until mid-2004, Coffin served in the Justice Department and won favor with Cheney when he successfully defended the vice president from having to publicly release documents related to his energy task force.” In 2006, Coffin “told the Secret Service in September to eliminate data on who visited Cheney at his official residence.”
LOL…And another one bite’s the dust….We are up to 2 rep’s leaving this week…Maybe by the next election it will be one a day..Just like the old vitamin’s..This has got to be a good thing since the Dem’s don’t know how to boot them out like they should……Blessings
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:56 amAnother coffin in the nail…???
November 2nd, 2007 at 9:58 amGood one TROS….Blessings
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:00 amA M F !
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:02 amCarrying a man-sized briefcase full of shredded documents, I’m sure.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:05 amNot that I mean to , but everytime I see photos of BA officials, I wonder what they’d look like dressed in SS uniforms (did you ever look at archival pics of the Nazis and wonder how such seemingly normal people could come to the point of adopting the mantle and donning the uniform?).
After that, I wonder what they’ll look like sitting in the dock at the Hague.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:10 amtransparency in the v.p.’s office, eh?
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:11 amAnd I thought Cheney’s only Coffin was the one he sleeps in during the day.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:15 amYes, shoeless, I believe you are correct, except when he’s forced to attend a cabinet meeting where he falls asleep at the table.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:33 amHow many nails does this coffin require? Now can we get to the bottom of Darth’s covert energy task force? Once that info is outed, Cheney’s ouster will be a foregone conclusion. Can’t happen a moment too soon for the american people and this democracy!
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:39 amHi Marie! Cheney’s narcolepsy is becoming a huge embarrassment; that along with Chimpy’s psychiatric disease. Wonder where Kucinich’s demand for a psych exam is right now? Cheney needs a workup for narcolepsy, that’s clear.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:40 amLighten up, Veritas! Being evil is exhausting. ;)
I see a cushy private sector job in Dubai in Coffin’s near future…
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:41 amCoffin needs an immediate investigation by Congress – what he knew, when he knew it and what’s he’s slipping out of that office covertly?? Missing correspondence perhaps?? This guy’s a super thug and his departure is a signal that the shit’s hitting the fan.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:41 amhey Zooey! top of the morning to ya! Yes, being corrupt is exhausting – once they began lying then they had to lie again to cover up the first lie until it’s exponentially grown into a huge elephant in the room.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:42 amThis country should be sick and tired of watching these criminals, thug by thug, resign from this administration and walk out into the private sector unscathed. It’s time for a full administration investigation beginning with each and every one who has walked from Rummy to Coffin.

Hi Veritas. :)
I’m just sitting here studying for my Political Science exam, and polishing up my elephant gun.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:49 amIt is perplexing. Are they hiding out to hatch their next plan or, distancing themselves from the stench of impending defeat. I’m guessing that it’s a split.
The ones who’s balls are bigger than their brains are hatching plans. Those who’s balls are the same size, as their brains, are running scared.

We should be, but there has been so much of it, that most of the US is numbed to it. There really isn’t anything the BushCo scumbags won’t do and their blind supporters won’t accept any more.
A truly sickening situation.
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:51 amAnd no trolls here to defend Coffin? HMMMM!
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:52 amZoo,
is that one of those Darth “Wyoming Commemorative elephant guns?
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:53 amUpside99,
Yep. I’m going quail hunting later. :D
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:57 am“to eliminate data on who visited Cheney at his official residence”
And the Trolls support this kind of activities. They are all criminals, all apart of the big Repukian Mafia Family.
Buck Fush
November 2nd, 2007 at 10:58 amPlenty of ditch-dwelling bridge lurkers around. It’s just takes them awhile to figure out how the subject matter furthers their misunderstandings, lies and damn lies.

Under the guise of leaving the job, they could be leaving DC because of the plan to ……
What greater reason to implement martial law than having DC attacked?
Impeach now.
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:14 amLet me guess- he wants to “spend more time with his family.”
yeah, right.
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:14 amI wonder if Darth ask him to go on a hunting trip.
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:23 amIt’s now time to arrest this traitor to the Constitution.
And please, don’t confuse me with Cheney’s Coffin because Cheney’s Coffin is part of the conspiracy to send our troops off to Iraq only to return to US soil in coffins draped in flags. The coffins that our media refuses to show to the American public because old lady Bush doesn’t want to remind us of the real cost of this illegal invasion into Iraq.
I want the public to be reminded of the personal cost of this war. That’s why I sign my name as: Coffins Draped with Flags.
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:39 amHey Veritas – didn’t Ronnie “the Republican Savior” Reagon spend a good amount of time sleeping through meetings? People with heart conditions need a lot of rest and spend a lot of time dosing off during the day. Cheney’s snoozes could be a sign of hope for this country.
November 2nd, 2007 at 11:46 amRats.
November 2nd, 2007 at 12:41 pmCongrats Shannen Coffin.
Unfortunately, attorneys are often asked by their politically motivated clients to break the law. This, in the case of the Bush admin, should have been foreseeable to Coffin . . . but working for the WH is a seductive proposition . . . it won’t happen to me . . .
Unfortunately for Coffin, it happened to him. The best, most honorable solution is to quit.
If Cheney were an attorney, Coffin could probably have turned him in to licensing authorities to have him disbarred.
Cheney is a rogue.. . not an attorney answerable to any higher power who could slap him silly. . . .heck, he thinks he’s as bullet proof as Blackwater.
Another good man slimed.
November 3rd, 2007 at 2:52 pm“Coffin served in the Justice Department and won favor with Cheney when he successfully defended the vice president from having to publicly release documents related to his energy task force.â€
It was the judges before whom Coffin “argued” Cheney’s right to ignore the U.S. Constitution who gave Cheney what he wanted.
