The post leaves unchallenged the conservative assertion that they're afraid. What is happening here is more about a how a free society can eventually right itself, because its people start refusing to follow an unjust and futile path. In a free society (whether it's what we're trying to preserve in the US or claim we're trying to build in Iraq) a leader can only truly project power by earning the trust of the people. So it's no surprise that the Bushies are all about controlling through loyalty, discipline, rewards and punishments. It's a way to lead that has showed its ugly head repeatedly in history, but it's not what America's about. Hey TP can you do a better job explaining why they’re refusing to go?
