Iraq or corruption, it matters little which one is the biggest issue in the 2008 elections.

They are both the result of Pres Bush's failed policies and/or rampant cronyism. Whichever one is on the voters' mid, it cannot possibly be good news for the Republican candidate.

Rove's "math" is again saying 2 + 2 = 5.

I don't get it. I know that the war doesn't look good for the repubs. But corruption includes Abramov and all the K Street lobbyists that the repubs put in power. And it also brings up toe-tappin' congressmen.

So how does corruption help the repubs ?

Republicans tried to pull the "no elections during war" before and finally enough public outcry shut it down. But, Rove has even stated he believes in a one party system and he is despicable enough to try and control 2008.

The first in 220 years to not give up power peacefully? I don't think so, but I admit that this bunch comes closest to making me think it could happen. I don't think the military would cooperate with a shutting down of elections, seeing as how we had elections during the Civil War, the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Viet Nam and this very Iraq war. We've held elections during all of these conflicts. On what basis would anyone presume to postpone an election?

I've been of the opinion for a few years now that GWB will not step down in 2008/9. Some catastrophe will arise that will prevent the elections from taking place. I hope I'm wrong but doubt it. You don't create/steal all of these Presidential powers just to give them up to a Democrat. At a minimum your voting will be so rigged that no Democrat will win. But even then I can't see Bush giving up all of this.

If the country is under martial law next November, it won’t matter what the issues are because there won’t be an election.

There may not be an election, but that doesn't mean the issues will go away, they will just be compounded.

Yep...I remember a time that my wife could gas her car up for less than $20, when another $20 for food would give me enough to eat for a week comfortably, when my electric bill in the winter (in Baton Rouge) would be $50, my rent was $375 a month, and I had spending money left over from 30 hours a week at 8 an hour.

Now rent is $650 a month, Electric never goes below $110 a month, tag another $50 a month for gas in the warm months and $200 a month for cold months, it'd take $50 to fill my wife's old car's tank if we still had it, and the same amount of food, which is now killing me slowly, costs $50 a week.

Hey, Rove. That's the math I see. Go blow it out your butt.

The numbers on the economy released this week just don't seem to equate to the news I hear in our area. I know many small business's pay in cash because payroll taxes eat them up. Cash commerce is growing and growing.

How low can it go?

Comment by Dave C

Before GW666 life was good, wife did not have to work, we were doing fine.
After GW666, wife HAS to work, inflation is eating every dollar we make and at 140K a year we can barely make ends meet.

Of course our "Liberal" media is ignoring the extreme inflation that will lead to a depression if this idiot pResident keeps "keeping the course".

<em>So while GWB was at the helm of your wonderful economy your dollar has dropped 73.5% in just over 5 years. Wow. How low can it go?

Correction, it's a drop of 42%.

Here's some math for you... the Canadian dollar hit $1.07 U.S. today, or to put it in your terms, your dollar is worth 93.45¢ Cdn. It's the lowest your $ has ever sunk in relation to the Cdn $. Ever. Fifty years ago it was within a penny of this level & that was the record. What does this mean? It will help the U.S. with exports because everything is on sale big time. But it will hurt anyone who actually spends money as anything entering the country will cost much more then it did before. Up here Walmart is quickly lowering prices, Sears is promising to sell things at the U.S. price (which used to be about 25% lower then the Cdn price) until they get the prices sorted out. So everything that is entering Canada from the U.S. has to be dropped in price since it's so much cheaper then before. It wasn't that long ago (Jan, 2002) that our dollar was worth 62.00¢ U.S. and yours was $1.6128. So while GWB was at the helm of your wonderful economy your dollar has dropped 73.5% in just over 5 years. Wow. How low can it go?

One thing tho, the way the Republicans are falling with sex charges, they might clean themselves out. Richard Curtis State Rep resigned this week. Wonder how many for the year have had to quit.

Wake up!!!! Rove says it 'll be about corruption because the policy is in place to indict Democrats . The political arm of the justice department put in place by Alberto Gonzales is still going strong .
Watch how many cases are brought against Democrats .
Rove knows not as many Republicans will face charges even if they did the same thing a democrat may have done .
Ask Jeff Sessions !!!!!!!

Rove simply knows that Cheney is planning a dirty bomb false flag attack against America in the near future in order to justify nuking Iran to Kingdom Come.

Iraq and Iran won't even exist at that point. Nuclear winter will be the hot topic as the elections draw near, right Karl?

Nothing like Armageddon to put those Democrats back on their heels.

Great, now someone knows the whereabouts of Karl Rove! Someone needs to put a bell around his neck to keep track of him. No matter where he is he will be up to his old tricks.

So what if corruption and not the war is the big ticket for 2008; corruption is a GOP thing; so it too will sack the repugs.

Comment by Jeremy in Denver -

I know I did that, and guess what, I don't care. You make typos sometimes with typing fast. So what?

Spliting typing errors doesn't make "It" less of an idiot.

He's probably right. We'll be too distracted by the war with Iran and our subsequent invasion by Russia and China to care about Iraq.
