Will Bush recess appoint Mukasey?

Today, the LA Times reports that there “is speculation that Bush might install Mukasey during the congressional holiday break. That recess appointment would enable Mukasey to serve unconfirmed until a new Congress convenes, and Bush leaves office, in January 2009. But congressional sources said they doubted that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) would stand for such a maneuver.”

Oh no, not another lie from our little woodenhead liar in chief president Pinocchio!

Bush said, no confirmation, no AG for the rest of his term – works for me.

  2. tom says:

This would certainly be “par for the course” where GDumbya is concerned. I wouldn’t be surprised.

  3. Zooey says:

    Of course he will.

And Harry Reid will roll over, so Bush can scratch his tummy.

  4. Buckie Boy says:

Well DUH, of course, when you’re a crook you do crooked things.

  5. Menehune says:

No breaks, Harry. There will be other Thanksgivings, other Christmases. But there might not be another USA if you let this one slip away.

  6. Bob says:

Bush has made such a mockery of Justice, we’re damned if we do and damned if we don’t. So he gets confirmed but wouldn’t be prosecuting all the crimes taking place. Or he doesn’t get confirmed and the crimes taking place don’t get prosecuted. None of this sht will stop until Bush is out of office–one way or another.

  7. grover nerdkissed says:

thats right, harry reid wont stand for it.
he’ll drop to his knees & roll over.

  8. raynman says:

Of course he won’t stand for it, he’ll roll over and play dead like he always has.

  9. Uncle Ho says:

You bet your bippy Bush will do a recess appointment here. I posted that yesterday.

  10. Jack Jett says:

    Reid won’t “stand” for it.

Reid and Pelosi have already proven they are spineless.

What are they going to do? Hold a press converence?

  11. grover nerdkissed says:

AFTER the recess appointment, harry reid will issue a strongly worded letter expressing his dissappointment.

  12. po says:

Well,Harry won’t stand for it. Does that mean that the Senate will not be going into recess for the next 14 months? If not, he can continue sitting while it happens.

  13. TripMaster Monkey says:

    Jack Jett sez:

Reid and Pelosi have already proven they are spineless.

They are far worse than merely “spineless”…they are active collaborators in this administration’s ongoing crimes.

  14. LividLib says:

So, Reid wan’t stand for such a maneuver?

  18. Veritas says:

Harry Reid’s the single worst “excuse” for a Democratic congressman that I’ve ever seen! He’s a whimp who rolls over at the slightest provocation or flexation of rethug musculature. Ick!

  19. Veritas says:

TRoS: Bushnocchio it is! His nose should be so long that it could be used as an international “limbo stick” by now. When you limbo to the ground, you will hear that limbo sound…..tralalalala.

  20. Leftside Annie says:

Heh. I’d be far more surprised if he didn’t.

  21. Hardy Haberman says:

Reid will stand for it just like he has stood for Bush not being impeached. I have to wonder what it will take for the Democrats to wake up and smell the impeachment?

  22. shoeless says:

Yes Reid will stand for it, unless he wants to smell Anthrax in his mail.

    That’s funny.

  24. kdoug says:

right … big tuff Harry Ried … ooooooooooo Bush is scared …

  25. Engr Tony says:

But congressional sources said they doubted that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) would stand for such a maneuver.”

Which means absolutely nothing, because Harry Reid has absolutely no spine.

Here’s an idea, if getting your precious holiday break is so important to you: don’t reject the nomination outright, simply announce that numerous senators have told you that they need proper time to consider Mukasey’s nominiation, and that in order for the Senate to carry out its Constitutional duty to confirm nominations, that a vote will be scheduled after the Senate returns to session.

“But congressional sources said they doubted that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) would stand for such a maneuver.

They said Reid would probably try to outflank Bush by keeping some lawmakers in Washington over the break to ensure that the chamber was always in session. ”

Yes, except Bush could and probably WILL do this:

U.S. Constitution, Article II, Section 3.

………………….he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he MAY ADJOURN them to such Time as he shall think proper…

And why hasn’t the “Liberal Press” figured out that GW666 and Darth were behind the Anthrax attacks, oh that’s right, they’re afraid for their careers from their “Conservative Owners” who were told to squelch any and all reporting of GW666’s crimes.

Oh, everybody knows who sent the Anthrax to Daschle and Leahy. But hey, it was just a little practical joke. You know, like lighting a paper bag full of crap on fire on your neighbor’s front porch.

    >Oh, everybody knows who sent the Anthrax to Daschle and Leahy.

don’t forget it came from a us weapons lab. it just stuns me, absoutely stuns me, that the united states populace is so docile that they arent our rioting in the streets because of things like this..

  31. tombaker says:

that’s the only way he can get anyone appointed – through the same back door that Jeff Gannon uses.

  32. tombaker says:

12 – i hope you’re as stoked about presidential power next January, when the new Dem Pres starts throwing your graven idols and false prophets in jail – but i doubt you will – instead you’ll be bawling like the spoiled and cowardly juvenile you are, flinging your hateful and meaningless troll-dung all over the internet, much like you are right now. How nice for you, I guess.

  33. Coffins Draped with a Flag says:

Let’s hope Harry calls the Senate back to vote on some emergency spending for Bush’s war or stem cell research or SCHIP, again, at least 3 or 4 times during the recess. That way boy Bush can’t anoint Gonzo II to the AG position.

Bush/Cheney – the leaders of the torture, death and deficit Republican Party.
