I'm sick of all this "Clinton family legacy" crap. If people were worried about this issue, the time should have been 2000 when the son of a former president was running. But, nobody brought the issue up. How about that.

smgumby: "Let’s break this cycle and say the American Presidency IS NO PLACE FOR LEGACIES. Clinton is sure not to relinquish the power Bush has seized. If it is held onto for 8 more years just think how much more the neocons could take when they eventually get back in power?"

The Clinton family is not a legacy family. Clinton was the first in his family to get a college education. Bush was the 17th legacy from his family to attend Yale, a string of legacies going back to the 1840's. To compare the Bush and Clinton families on this basis is simply absurd.

And, let me remind you of something you probably don't know - Clinton is the ONLY candidate so far that I know of who has said explicitly that she will review all of the rules enacted by Bush and reverse many of the unconsitutional liberties he has taken for the executive branch.

#75 So you see no problem with journalist being held 6 years without being charged with a crime? You need to read Glen Greenwald at Salon and see what has happened to hapbeus corpus. Also, there is a Molly Ivins book just out regarding people dissenting with Bush and what happens.

Remember the old days of qbasic generated computer music? .BAS files?

Or of how annoying it was, it could literally give you a headache?

For the creator of the music, it wasn't annoying, it was music; now Fox news is that music. It's programmed to sooth themselves, and annoy others.

And they have come a long way since those little beepers on your old 8 bit uP (eight bit microprocessor.)

I used to like fox (locally in Sacramento), back in the day when they first built their TV station on Fruitridge road, not two blocks from my home at the time. As kids we used to go watch big time wrestling. Pat Patterson. Those were the days. We'd hit the 7-11 grab some soda (used to be made with SUGAR back then) and ride our bikes up to the station.

Now the station looks like a secured area, dry docked submarine with warts, Security fences, locking gates, security cameras, and a plethora of new satellite dishes. I wonder how high the dosage of RF the residents must endure now.

I wish the 4th estate would wake up.

I wish the definition of "journalist" could be restored. Not this horrible war on bloggers and Police Department Credentialed Press Pass / Paid / For Profit / political spin garbage that *IS* what they have become.

Maybe then the Constitution could be restored and the people that wrecked it be held accountable by shining a spotlight on our rigged elections. Rigged by corporate media, electronic tabulation, or dirty tricks, "We The People" have been denied our constitutional rights.

But I ain't holding my breath. The 5th estate (the web) is under attack now.

And, after Hillary wins, she can serve for 8 years. Easily enough time to destroy the Democratic brand, or more honestly destroy any prestige the dems have managed to acquire during the reign of Bush II. By then the next crop of Bush spawn will be ready to assume power as the solution to "all the problems the dirty libs have caused".

Let's break this cycle and say the American Presidency IS NO PLACE FOR LEGACIES. Clinton is sure not to relinquish the power Bush has seized. If it is held onto for 8 more years just think how much more the neocons could take when they eventually get back in power?

There’s no reason little Georgie P. can’t make a wonderfully able county drain commissioner somewhere in the Texas hinterlands. That’s the proper level for any Bush.

Well, this sounds like fun and games. But considering the Bush money and 41s immense power on the world stage, ANY office would be a stepping stone to higher office.

I'm with chimpeach here. Slap them down and keep them out of politics completely. Let the power and money that got W elected on nothing but his frat boy appeal and a lifetime of failures, die with 41.

Bush: “…See, that side of the war never got — the fact that we treated those people with respect in spite of the fact they were the enemy, it’s really good.

Sadly, Mr. Bush would now be considered a coward and a terrorist sympathizer by his own party for these views. Go ahead and let it out, sir — the nation weeps with you for what your son has done in our name.

from the transcript:

WALLACE: Finally, we see what happens when a president makes a decision, walking into the kind of tent where U.S. soldiers camped in the Saudi desert during Operation Desert Storm.
It's got to be the hardest thing for any president, to send troops into combat.

G.H.W. BUSH: Oh, that's the toughest decision a president make, no question. Nothing compares to it when you send somebody else's kid, somebody else's son, somebody else's daughter, whatever it is, into harm's way. There's nothing like it. You can't blame someone else. You've got to say this is — I'm making this call.

WALLACE: And on a personal level, how do you live with it?

G.H.W. BUSH: Well, you — with all respect, you pray and you rely heavily on a team of experts, but in the final analysis you live with the decision. And sometimes things work out great, and sometimes I was very worried they wouldn't.

When you suit up to be president, that goes with the territory. And it's not easy. Those things are not easy. But I never, you know, felt sorry for myself because I knew — my mother would say, "You're doing your best," and I knew I had a wonderful group of advisers.

But we couldn't see how it would all play out, I will confess that.

WALLACE: The library has a powerful film that puts you right in the action. January 16th, 1991, the night the air war is launched.

G.H.W. BUSH: I'll never forget that night.
[...]
WALLACE: The president remembered the courage and humanity of American soldiers and he grew emotional.

G.H.W. BUSH: My favorite picture is a picture of American soldiers surrounding a guy in a foxhole, Iraqi soldier, and the American guy says, "We're not going to harm you. We're American soldiers."

WALLACE: This really brings back the sacrifice, doesn't it, sir?

G.H.W. BUSH: Sure does. You see, that side of the war never got — the fact that he treated those people with respect in spite of the fact that they were the enemy was really good.

WALLACE: Then some final thoughts about the decisions he had to make.

G.H.W. BUSH: I still think Saddam Hussein thought he would — one, we wouldn't fight and, two, if we did fight, somehow talked himself into believing he'd win in the ground war.

WALLACE: And then the decision to end it...

G.H.W. BUSH: Yeah.

WALLACE: ... when we were slaughtering them — and again, I mean, I...

G.H.W. BUSH: I think we made the right decision. I've subsequently been criticized for that. But we had an objective. We formed a coalition based on not killing Saddam, not conquering, capturing Baghdad, but on ending the war, ending the aggression. And we did it.

And so we did what we said we were going to do. Had we not done that, that coalition would have fallen apart in a minute.

WALLACE: Mr. President, thank you so much. This has been such a wonderful...
...

chris, in a hurry to end THAT conversation???

and talk about putting words into his mouth...
doddering old fool...
and, who is "he"?
