President Bush today awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to eight recipients, including C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb. Commending Lamb for the honor, President Bush joked, “C-Span is not what you call exciting TV. Though some of the call-in shows do have their moments.” Watch it:
For the record, C-SPAN regularly covers Bush’s speeches.
It’s only exciting when it shows the chymp inserting his entire foot into his mouth, which occurs with alarming regularity.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:42 pmC-Span only becomes exciting when parts of it become video montages for Jon Stewart…
But seriously, even though C-Span is about as gripping as the rotating jewelry segments on Home Shopping Network, I’m glad we have it. If for no reason than our elected officials know they’re being watched.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:44 pmWith contempt charges being brought up against a couple of Bush’s old cronies it could get very interesting in the next couple of weeks.
Bush doesn’t like C-Span because there’s no animation or laugh tracks.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:46 pmWashington Journal is great. The Ron Paul supporters just about took it over today, though
November 5th, 2007 at 1:51 pmConnecticut is oh so very sorry
November 5th, 2007 at 1:52 pm…and you are not what I’d call a stirring leader, Mr. Bush. But you do have a point there…
November 5th, 2007 at 1:52 pm“Though some of the call-in shows do have their moments”
Yeah like this one:
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/06/19/savages-assault-cspan/
Ha ha ha or something.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:53 pmWhat I meant to say was that C-Span is not all corporate fascist propaganda like CNN or FOX “news.”…
Decider Musharraf.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:56 pmif it wasn’t for Bush “freedom” wouldn’t be a dirty word
November 5th, 2007 at 1:56 pmi *love* cspan!
November 5th, 2007 at 1:57 pmespecially cspan2!!!!
At least the award wasn’t some perverse inversion of reality this time.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:57 pmI wouldn’t let that jackass pin his bullsh!t “Medal of Freedom” on my chest.
November 5th, 2007 at 1:58 pmI’ve put c-span on as background noise while cooking or something similar. Thats it though. I’ve tried to actually watch it, and that never goes well.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:01 pmC-Span is not what you call exciting TV.
CSPAN broadcast the Colbert speech at the Correspondents’ Dinner.
Just sayin’
November 5th, 2007 at 2:02 pmI have watched CSPAN for 9 hours in 1 setting; CSPAN, CSPAN2, CSPAN3(Home of the committee hearings) all rock. I love a channel(or channels)with unfiltered, unedited, LIVE political coverage!
:D

greatest… dinner… ever!
November 5th, 2007 at 2:07 pmI don’t know why he would say that. During the Clinton impeachment proceedings it was all aired live. And I’m not going out on a limb suggesting that there were thousands of conservatives glued to it, masturbating furiously.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:09 pmPoor Georgie! C-Span, with its lack of cartoon illustrations and little rhyming words, is not “exciting”. Poor everyone else, if Georgie has taken the U.S. down the imperialist path so he could meet his need for excitement.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:12 pmBush’s sense of humor sucks.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:23 pmi think cspan is the greatest drama on teevee, once you understand who the players are & what their motivations are.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:25 pmI’ve said it before about our president, and I’m sure I’ll say it again:
What a d!ck.
November 5th, 2007 at 2:27 pmCaption contest:
“But I sure like them french fried taters. Ummhum”
November 5th, 2007 at 2:28 pmThat’s because all the really good stuff, like the Gonzo hearings, aren’t televised and to see them you have to watch them online at C-Span 3.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:01 pmIsn’t it time for either Dick or Condi to babysit the clown Bush? I swear the word “Bushism” with a new word with Bush’s face in the Webster’s dictionary.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:24 pmBush prefers the Faux Noise network that maintains their audience’s short attention span by showing their viewers something shinny every 15 seconds. Pretty girls, talking points, sound bytes, car chases, and fires.
That damn legislative branch of Government processes shown on C-SPAN are to boring.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:29 pmtoo much like reading a book, says Bush.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:36 pmHURRAY FOR BRIAN LAMB. This man is truly a Great American, who created the only media outlet that you can’t trust, most of the time about 90 percent. C Span viewers are a cross section of American who get to call the show to express their opinion unfilter and openly most of the time. Great Job Brian.

Not really. Lamb is a Republican, and it shows all to often.
November 5th, 2007 at 3:56 pmWell, Mr. President, that would be because you have no interest in how government is supposed to work.
November 5th, 2007 at 4:18 pmLamb is a Republican, and it shows all to often.
Comment by Lefty Patriot — November 5, 2007 @ 3:56 pm
Brian Lamb IS from Indiana….and he may well be a Republican…but letting it show all too often…I don’t think so. Iv’e been watching cspan, especially washington journal for years…and I have NO IDEa what Brian Lamb is…other than about the best interviewer and devil’s advocate on TV. Right wingers and left wingers all call in, and don’t agree on ANYTHING except that c-span is balanced, and shows all sides of an issue.
November 5th, 2007 at 4:31 pmThe actual live coverage of the house and senate, however, is a different matter.
Bush is not what you would call smart.
November 5th, 2007 at 8:43 pmBush is not what you would call smart.
Comment by Vincennes — November 5, 2007 @ 8:43 pm
That, sir, is the understatement of the night!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:16 pmThe Decider wants to shut down CSPAN. Doesn’t want the People to see the ridiculous “arguments” his water carriers have to make in the House and Senate to continue his war on the lower income people of this nation.
November 6th, 2007 at 7:11 amYou know what they say about those people who love sausage and respect the law…
If Bush doesn’t consider C-Span to be all that exciting to watch (given that anger, contempt, and revulsion can justifiably be considered forms of excitement albeit somewhat unpleasant ones)…then the only conclusion I can draw is that Bush fils is pretty much dead from the neck up.
But then again, those of us who’ve actually been paying attention realized that a very long time ago…
