Secondly, why is it that when nearly any news blog is opened up, people use it as an immediate chance to bash on Bush? The president was barely mentioned in this article, why all the hype about him here? Its as brainless as it is irrelevant. I feel that a lack of real critical thinking is becoming an epidemic in our nation, possibly due to the fact that we live so comfortably here. The whole “Bush is a moron” joke has been done, and overdone, ad nauseum. Don’t get me wrong, I will respect and acknowledge nearly any perspective on life, politics or religion so long as that perspective is based on sound knowledge, reasoning, deep thought and experienced personal insight. If you don’t like Bush, why was he elected a second time? …and don’t give me “oh the election was rigged” either. If it REALLY was rigged, then you should be ashamed of yourselves for knowing the government cheated you and not excercising your constiutional rights to correct the matter by any means necessary. If it wasn’t really rigged, then isn’t this just a childish way to excuse yourself from any responsibility in today’s word events? I support someone who doesn’t approve of Bush, but only if they can give me sound reasoning for it, not rumors and speculation, but fact. So far very little fact has been posted here. We all need to better educate ourselves and commit ourselves to action, whatever our decisions may be, based on critical thinking and factual knowledge. Short sighted screams of “Bring the troops home NOW” or “the Bush administration sucks” doesn’t really SAY anything. More importantly, it doesn’t CHANGE anything. The same is the case in this article. I feel that all the hype about a potentially offensive costume is about as irrelevant as possible to the situation at hand. A member of Homeland Security voting on a costume doesn’t particularly defame or enhance her abilities to function in the government. This event isn’t strong enough to justify accusing her of racial bigotry at all. If she is incapable at her post, that should justify this level of debate and news, not a small event outside of her realm of work entirely. Had this event proved her racist, like had she been seen at a KKK rally, that might have been different. But it isn’t, nor is it CLOSE. If our nation is to improve, it can only do so through knowledge and wisdom that generates ACTION and THOUGHT. Not sideline complaints. …and for the record to any who might think to attack me here, I say the same to conservatives as to liberals. We are ALL equally responsible, including myself, of being too poorly educated in politics as a nation, and need to take further steps to streghthen this so as to stop being the laughingstock of the rest of the world.

Please explain why a costume contest is state sponsored oppression of a group. I want to hear this.

And if you want to know about state sponsored, catholic church ( and others ) “Indian Schools”, that is if you really fu(king care, google it.

Unfortunately, some of the posters here and elsewhere conflate “all Jews” with “Zionists,” using the term Zionist as a new codeword for “all Jews,” as in: ‘The Zionists control the U.S. media.

First of all, that’s just plain wrong. People who speak of the Zionists controlling the media do not conflate them with the Jews…in fact, they assiduously avoid that mischaracterization.

Second, “some of the posters here”? Who? Name names. Otherwise, your assertion is just more of the bullsh!t “some people say” pablum that FOX “news” has taught us to hate.
