That's funny. I was diagnosed as having kidney cancer in October this year. I have had 4 doctors tell me I need to have the mass taken out of my kidney - a partial removal of the kidney - and 2 of these doctors feel that my liver lesions are a metastases from the kidney. I am being refused surgery, biopsies and any kind of treatment because I don't have money to pay for medical services, no insurance and am not eligible for Medicaid. Our household income is only $1200 per month and we have no children in the home. As a result, I don't qualify for any medical assistance at all. I was seen by one of the best facilities - Cleveland Clinic - but I can't have surgery because I can't put down an $8,000 deposit. Tom DeLay's comments are almost as bad as Bush's comment about all we have to do is just go to the emergency room for medical care. I am disgusted. I want to see a follow-up to Sicko that addresses the plight of the average American with no money, no insurance and no eligibility for Medicaid or Disability. No one is entitled to be given a house, car, food or health care, etc. If we want these things, we have to earn them. The government does not earn money. Perhaps some of us should take a civics class and learn about America. We all have to labor for what we want. For those who need help there are the charities and state programs.
