DHS employee wore offensive costume in office all day.
DHS immigration chief Julie Myers yesterday met with senators about an employee’s racially offensive Halloween costume that she lauded. She claimed ignorance about the fact that the man, dressed in a dreadlocks wig and prison outfit, had also been wearing make-up to darken his skin: “I was surprised and mortified to learn the day after the event that the employee’s true skin color was not as it had appeared.” Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) also revealed that the employee had been wearing the costume all day:
“He was dressed in this costume during his entire shift at work all day, which means that in the workplace there wasn’t a manager that said, ‘You need to change, you need to leave,’” McCaskill said.

Right, she couldn’t tell that the guy was wearing makeup. What a putz she is. She saw nothing offensive about the costume. It wasn’t until someone made an issue about it that she was “mortified”.

These people live in a 1930’s mindset, when the only depictions of non-whites that white people ever saw were the exaggerated stereotypes Hollywood showed in the movies. African Americans, particularly, spoke only in exaggerated Ebonics, were easily frightened, knew how to dance, and/or committed crimes. They don’t see that these portrayals are offensive, it has to be pointed out to them. Even then, they don’t get it.

(Republican hatred against blacks, Arabs, Muslims, gays, poor people on welfare, socialists, Europeans, the United Nations, etc…..) Or just afraid to say anything, because they know they have a political crony running the show, who didn’t object to the racist in black face. Speaking up would be career suicide in this instance. By their reasoning, a small profile represents a small target for retribution. If you were a DHS employee in the office (with years of time on the job), would you risk everything (including your pension) to stand up? Or would you lay low, and try to wait until the corrupt Bushies are out of office. While there are no profiles in courage from this lot of employees, would you risk your future saying anything, knowing Myers would torpedo you for doing it?

November 9th, 2007 at 4:51 pmAs a Professional Geologist, I attempted to link the Dust Bowl/Great Depression to a pre-glacial condition or mechanism and ended up writing the book H2onE2. I felt that there was a strong connection between the Dust Bowl and transition back into Glacial Winter. I did notice that my professors scientifically crumbled every time I mentioned the relationship. I could not go back in time or locate indisputable proof. The proof came from understanding all educational disciplines including history and theology. I soon discovered that all religious text both eastern and western continually described significant climate change conditions relating to Glacial Respiration. For years I fought off mixing science and religion until I discovered that the origins of all religions were founded or created to help humans psychologically survive the harsh earthen environment.
