Yesterday, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) reiterated his call for President Bush to “pursue an offer of direct, unconditional, and comprehensive talks with Iran.” Former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton criticized Hagel this morning, telling CNN: “I don’t think Iran is going to be chit-chatted out of its nuclear weapons.” Hagel, also appearing on CNN, quipped in response, “Well, our current strategy has been working so well, don’t you think?” Watch it:
Hagel added, “We can’t dictate. We can’t say we don’t like your government, therefore you’re going to have to change your government because you’re going to have to play by our rules. That’s gotten us into a lot of trouble. … You engage. You find common denominator interests.”
I happen to agree with Hagel on this, but when he says BushCo can't say"We don't like your government, lease change it". They already did that in Iraq and have changed this country away from a Democracy as well.

WHAT nuclear weapons, John?
Show us some evidence of their existence, or admit they're not there.
(Wow...deja vu...I remember typing almost the same post, word for word, in regards to Iraq in 2002...)
November 9th, 2007 at 10:02 amThe White House’s propaganda campaign laying the groundwork for military action against Iran dates back almost six years—to Bush’s 2002 State of the Union address in which he designated Iran as a founding member of the “axis of evil.†Since then, this drumbeat has waxed and waned as other concerns—primarily the disastrous invasion and occupation of Iraq—have often commanded center stage. Now, with the Bush administration approaching its final year in office, a renewed push and a shorter fuse are increasingly evident. My 3-minute YouTube video entitled “Forewarned Is Forearmed: Bush On Iran†is available HERE. It offers a very brief but deeply troubling chronicle of the president’s public warmongering and demonization of Iran. As has been said before, “the hour is getting late.â€

November 9th, 2007 at 10:05 amOh let's just bomb Iran and get it over with. We can protest and all but it's not going to make a shred of difference. What have we got to lose? It's not like we're a democracy anymore.
November 9th, 2007 at 10:07 amDoes anybody know whether Rush thinks Hagel is a phony soldier or just a traitor? or both?

November 9th, 2007 at 10:12 amSan Francisco's last municipal elections were screwed up by the electronic voting machines from a company called E,S&S. Apparently the City is out $300K BUCKS for faulty uncertified machines that were corruptible. Guess what state E,S&S is in?
Nebraska.
Guess who owns E,S&S?
That's right...our Right Chuck Hagel.

China would never do that. It's not good business practice to bomb your best customer.
November 9th, 2007 at 10:15 amMore on Hagel. He won his seat from Nebraska using voting machines to count his election from the very company he owns. In fact, when he beat the Democrat he was running against, it was the first time in 24 years that a Republican had won that seat. What was termed a "stunning" defeat for the Democrats, was more likely, a ripoff.

Hagel and the voting machines is a separate issue. But as long as you brought it up -- Chuck Hagel doesn't own ES&S. It's a subsidiary of McCarthy Group, Inc. However, Hagel WAS CEO of ES&S until he resigned in 1996 to run for Senator. The 1996 Nebraska election (where he won) was conducted mostly on machines from his company, a situation that would raise eyebrows everywhere even if there was no wrongdoing involved.
Still -- whether Hagel is a bad apple or not, he's on the correct side of the Iran debate, and the message is more important than the messenger in this case.

Comment by toasterhead — November 9, 2007 @ 10:15 am
Plus, it would be stupid to bomb any country having more bombs than you do. No, if China wanted to bring us to our knees, they would get more mileage by simply cutting us off -- no more money to fight your wars, and no more cheap tacky goods to stock your Wal-Marts. China could always find more customers, but what would America do?
November 9th, 2007 at 10:34 amMissMolly writes "Still — whether Hagel is a bad apple or not, he’s on the correct side of the Iran debate, and the message is more important than the messenger in this case."
Here is a guy whose very political existence may very well be due to massive fraud, WHO BTW STILL HAS A LARGE STAKE IN E,S&S, and whose company is STILL screwing up elections for Democrats.

November 9th, 2007 at 10:49 amI am for direct talks with Iran. We need to go into these talks with 1 single goal. They either stop all nuclear activity or face military strikes. The article you linked to says exactly ZERO about Hagel. Perhaps you could find something that actually proves what you are saying?
November 9th, 2007 at 10:59 amHagel is speaking the truth here and that hurts the warmongers, like John Bolton. Past election fraud is shameful and all too common, but we are talking about another unprovoked war of aggression. Surely another such action will bring our country completely to ruin, so any voice of sanity is welcome.

OK -- out of the 19 posts so far, four of them are from you with an issue having nothing to do with the Iran debate. It's time to give it a rest, unless you are saying the following: Hagel's a crook, plus Hagel says we shouldn't bomb Iran, equals we SHOULD bomb Iran?
Try to make your point without littering the thread. Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, Roger2, what legal standing does the United States have to dictate to any other country whether or not they are allowed to develop nuclear power?
November 9th, 2007 at 11:05 amKeep it up Hagel. Our military is already at the breaking point and a push to attack Iran will put such a strain on them and our economy that we wouldn't survive.
Wake up America. We have allowed Bush to become the world's police and jury. this is not the values of America. We can't allow Bush to push us anymore. Our hands are full in Iraq and Afghanistan. Let's hold him to "Finish the Job" by defining the "Job".
November 9th, 2007 at 11:06 amWhy do Republicans want to be the world's police. Roger Roger, you seem to be advocating to enforce an opinion on the rest of the world. If it wasn't right when Clinton was in Bosnia then why do you think it's ok now?
November 9th, 2007 at 11:07 amHow can you help not mocking GW666?
When you are a national joke or should I say and International Joke you get mocked.
GW666 is insane and is very, very dangerous right now, he should be removed before he can do anymore damage.

Chit chatted out of WHAT nuclear weapons Bolton? If you tell a lie enough times people are going to start believing it. If they took a poll today I'm willing to bet that a large portion of our country will say that either Iran already has nuclear weapons or that they are months away from having them.
When are the sheepepole going to wake up and stop buying the crap this administration is feeding us?

As a signer of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iran has the right to peacefully use nuclear power to generate electricity, are they not? There's not a single shred of EVIDENCE that they want to build nukes.
Go after Israel, India, Pakistan and North Korea, all of which have nukes and none of which have signed the treaty.
November 9th, 2007 at 11:10 amClearly, Bush's shortcoming is speaking in any form - whether it's a informal Q & A or diplomatic talks. Frankly, I can't believe that he ever graduated a high school English or public speaking class!
On the psychological side of the diplomatic suggestion, I don't believe that it's possible for GWB to engage in anything even remotely resembling classy, intelligent, articulate, and fair dialogue. All he knows is the bully pulpit.
November 9th, 2007 at 11:12 amWhy is it that it takes a Congressman the decision to leave office before he begins to speak from his heart and speak the truth?
What a sad commentary for the state of our congress. We have presidential candidates vying for the highest office in this country and they've all gone mute when it comes to discussion of the critical issues. I say to give them all the "boot". None of the paltry group of sycophantic candidates deserves a second look and certainly not a vote....with the possible exception of Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul.
Bring on some new candidates please - we're counting on the Indy's to bring in someone with an intellect, a heart, and some intact vetebral bodies.

I totally agree with you on the direct talks with Iran. However, under the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Agreement, they have the legal RIGHT to develop nuclear power.
November 9th, 2007 at 11:17 amRoger_Rhetoric sez:
Just one problem with that plan, RR. Iran is allowed to pursue nuclear research for power generation purposes under the NPT.
Last I checked, the IAEA still had uncovered no evidence that Iran is pursuing a clandestine nuclear weapons program. If you have evidence the IAEA doesn't have, perhaps you should share it with them.

Problem is loon Roger, there is no PROOF that they are engaging in nuclear activity. The IEC has stated that they have no proof and no one has shown any proof that Iran is seeking nuclear technology to build a bomb. Just like there is no PROOF that they are meddling in Iraq. All the PROOF we have is Bush telling us that is what is happening and we all know how truthful Bush is.

How could you even think that? How Un-Murkin of you!!!!
After all, here are some of the claims made by Bush and Cheney on Iraq. They all were proven true.......LOL!!!!! :)
Iraq has 500 tons of chemical weapons: Sarin gas, Mustard gas, VX Nerve agent
Iraq has 30,000 weapons capable of dumping chemical weapons on people
Iraq has a growing fleet of planes capable of dispersing chemical weapons almost anywhere in the world
Iraq aids and protects terrorists, including members of Al Qaeda
Implied that Iraq was somehow behind 9/11
Iraq has attempted to purchase metal tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production
Iraq is rebuilding nuclear facilities at former sites.
Iraq recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa
Iraq has Nuclear Weapons for a fact
Iraq’s Saddam Hussein refused to allow UN inspectors into Iraq
Mobile Weapons Labs
November 9th, 2007 at 11:44 amJust like Iraq,
if the US has PROOF of nuclear weapons in Iran, let's SEE it.
They DON'T, or we WOULD see it.
Instead, they get people who USED to have integrity, like Colin Powell, to LIE to the WORLD.
So, let's see PROOF.
IAEA says NONE so far...
How about it, TRAITORS Cheney and Bush?

First to MissMolly...the fact that Hagel is littering our discourse with his false humility and nobility is the issue, and his past behavior is pertinent. CONSIDER the source.
November 9th, 2007 at 12:03 pmSecondly, to impeachcheneythenbush...read the article in its entirety. There is very much in all the links I posted about the Right Chuck Hagel.
Folks this guy appears to me to be very much a core part of the collapse of our most basic foundation, DEMOCRACY.
So that any of you would play in his ball court is striking. HE IS A FRAUD. And he is likely saying popular things in anticipation for some political gain down the road.
AND HE STILL OWNS A STAKE IN A FRAUDULENT ELECTION MACHINE company which is screwing up a Democratic stronghold at this moment. So why give him the benefit of the doubt at all?
because a lot of you are basically good hearted progressive people (unlike a lot of Republican trolls) who err on the side of optimism when dealing with people.
But not this treacherous fellow. Hagel is not to be considered seriously at all.
#39.
As long as you don't dispute that Bush and Cheney are TREASONOUS WAR CRIMINALS, tell us ALL about Hagel...

November 9th, 2007 at 12:07 pmAnd here's a thought for those of you who think we need a nuclear trigger in the form of a proven nuclear weapons program or actual nukes to attack Iran.
November 9th, 2007 at 12:09 pmNorth Korea, a far more DANGEROUS place (ask anyone who knows about the 38th parallel) ACTUALLY has nukes. Did they use them? Nope. All the talk about "dismantling" their program? talk, nothing more. Do you think they will actually give up their nukes? Not likely, not in the real world. And they don't appear ready to use them. And why not? Because it would be the last thing they ever did as a people and Jong knows it. As did Saddam, which is why he dismantled his program.
And the Iranians know this simple truth too:
A-bombs are deterrents.
MAD
So don't fall to the dupe that we must attack when we have the proof Iran has 'em. Let 'em have.
And if they use them there will cease to an Iran for the rest of eternity on the planet. So what is there to gain?
And then suggest Israel disarm, too.
just shows you how out to lunch this administration is... they send a guy who thinks negotiation is merely "chit-chatting" to be thier UN Ambassador.
November 9th, 2007 at 12:10 pmThis is the logical equivalent of asking Fred "God Hates Fags" Phelps to be your sex-ed teacher.
Bolton insists that political apointees should be apointed solely to carry about the presidents perrogatives, apparently bolton forgot about the whole "advice and consent of the sentate" thing..
HAHAHAHAHA! Of course they are treasonous bastards. I'll go a step further. Bush is a psychopathic mass murdering coke-sniffing, AWOL, money grubbing, lying, alcoholic, who duped the evangelicals (surprise surprise). Of course, these days, those traits make him a shoe-in for world leader.
November 9th, 2007 at 12:13 pmNot just "treasonous bastards".
TREASONOUS WAR CRIMINALS.
Interestingly enough, Bin Laden is in Pakistan.
Pakistan has NUKES.
But Bush won't go after Bin Laden in Pakistan.
WHY?
Because they HAVE nukes, unlike Iraq or Iran...
Sincerely,
NRA Gun Nutes
November 9th, 2007 at 12:16 pmLet me add this caveat: Hagel has not been proven to be a fraud. I misspoke. He only used his own company's voting machines to count the votes that got him elected.
November 9th, 2007 at 12:24 pmAnd he won with the greatest landslide victory in his state's history.
Can anyone say "appearance of conflict of interest"?
That's a good point about bin Laden and Pakistan's nuclear arsenal. I guess we shouldn't have let bin laden go at Tora Bora...
November 9th, 2007 at 12:28 pmwonder why Bush has awarded Musharraf more military aid when sanctions are levied against the nuke-less countries. And when it has become painfully obvious that Musharraf is either intentionally or through incompetence protecting bin laden.
What would you do to get bin Laden?
Hey, if we could invade Iraq, we should have done the SAME with Pakistan...
We DIDN'T, Bush saying that he "wasn't concerned" about Bin Laden.
But again, Pakistan DOES have NUKES.
And Bin Laden.

http://www.H2onE2.com Glacial Respiration, Conceptual Ring of Ice, The End of Linear Western Religion
A Geological Exploration of an E2 Earthen Planet And the H2 Human Species
Author: B Billy Marse, Professional Geologist
Brief Description:
http://www.H2onE2.com is an exploration of the universe, geology, climate, biology, humans, psychology, folklore and ancient structures to uncover the beginning and disclose the end of linear western religion. The true DaVinci Code behind the bible is not a supreme spiritual power but a scientific record of climate change described as Glacial Respiration. The Greek philosophers originated the practice of communicating a hidden idea or message in the short story format, as a metaphor. In the bible, metaphors conceal historic climate change within the fanciful stories. The theory of Glacial Respiration explains the myth behind the Holy Grail, structures such as the Great Pyramids, Stonehenge, Easter Island and is the knowledge that was collected in the Jewish Ark of the Covenant.
The environmental changes of Glacial Respiration determine all biological evolution and can explain why higher forms of intelligent humans developed. Further, Glacial Respiration releases the secret hidden by the Knights Templars, Masonic Order and all religions. Uncovers an advanced Blue-Blooded semi-industrial Atlantian Civilization that was built and destroyed many times over for the last million years. The book ends with an explanation of how linear western religion will be physically ended and describes the construction of the doomsday device capable of fulfilling its own self defining prophesy, “Revelationsâ€. H2onE2 is a mind-expanding experience that stimulates the soul, instinct, intellect and is an almanac to the past, present and future of humanity. Rise, awaken and evolve into H3 human consciousness.
The discovery:
November 9th, 2007 at 4:52 pmAs a Professional Geologist, I attempted to link the Dust Bowl/Great Depression to a pre-glacial condition or mechanism and ended up writing the book H2onE2. I felt that there was a strong connection between the Dust Bowl and transition back into Glacial Winter. I did notice that my professors scientifically crumbled every time I mentioned the relationship. I could not go back in time or locate indisputable proof. The proof came from understanding all educational disciplines including history and theology. I soon discovered that all religious text both eastern and western continually described significant climate change conditions relating to Glacial Respiration. For years I fought off mixing science and religion until I discovered that the origins of all religions were founded or created to help humans psychologically survive the harsh earthen environment. Without reason I soon accepted that the world's complicated religions were the same. This came true and I continued to write and discover. Everything came into place as though I was unlocking a 10,000-year-old puzzle. I also realized this puzzle was opened before I discovered it, by someone else, some other group. If so, further understanding of this knowledge might be extracted from significant historical events. Lastly, this is the vital information needed to make future predictions.
