U.S. District Judge Henry Kennedy today ordered the White House to “preserve copies of all its e-mails, a move that Bush administration lawyers had argued strongly against.” The order was in response to two lawsuits by CREW and the National Security Archive, which are seeking to determine whether the White House has destroyed approximately 5 million e-mails in violation of federal law.
How dare this judicial activist impede The Decider.
Quick Commander Guy, give this judge the Musharraff treatment and lock him up pronto!

November 12th, 2007 at 9:04 pmWhoa, deja vu.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:07 pmSomebody is gonna have a big old hissy fit!
November 12th, 2007 at 9:14 pm“Oooops, I did it again. Sorry, your Honou, too late….”
Why do you think that they gave the staffers a day or so head start (before ordering everything preserved) on the Libby stuff (IIRC)?
Cheers,
November 12th, 2007 at 9:18 pmThey won’t … “The Coup” already happened. There is no organized opposition left to save this beautiful 200 year old “democratic experiment.” It is finished … done. It happened in quick six years … blinded by 9/11, 9/11, 9/11. The “mantra” of this madness. Bush / Cheney will go down in history as the architects who put the last nail in the coffin of America as the moral and spiritual beacon of the world. Now we are just ‘another’ banana republic. Period.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:19 pmBush is laughing in his sleeve. Anyone here think the Bush crime family really gives a damn?
November 12th, 2007 at 9:20 pmthis is ot, but check out crooks and liars. they have a clip from harry shearer’s show of katie couric that every troll should hear the next time they start crying about the “liberal” media.

November 12th, 2007 at 9:24 pmAnyone think they’ll comply? Me neither.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:25 pmHow many crimes are being concealed and how dire are they. Along with, “will they actually surrender power” these are the only questions left about this, the most criminal administration in our history.

Did you enjoy Tancredo’s latest psychotic break, I mean campaign add. Actually, he makes a good case for returning to the lands of our ancestors and leaving this cursed ground to the Native Americans.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:46 pmThe Bush Crime Family may have their plan waiting…if pushed enough to follow the law, fake chaos may break out and martial law imposed….

…just speculation…but with the type of element we are dealing with you never know.
It is sad what this country has become. The fact that a judge found it necessary to order the White House not to destroy e-mails is beyond belief. Why is this country tolerating the lies and crimes that have been committed by this band of thieves. If the band of thieves were Democrats, they would have been strung up and quartered by now.
November 12th, 2007 at 9:51 pm@bilbobaggins
They had to file a restraining order to preserve e-mails that under Federal Law must already be protected and saved.
November 12th, 2007 at 10:05 pmdidnt we go thru this just a few months ago?
November 12th, 2007 at 10:16 pm“i think we should grant them immunity & then pass legislation that all presidential papers be preserved!”

Comment by bilbobaggins — November 12, 2007 @ 9:51 pm
A logical assumption but not a slam dunk. I don’t think the Democrats have ever been homogeneous enough to have reached this point. History would indicate that they would have fractured before the rot set in so deeply. It may have been driven by opportunism, rather than high ideals, but it seems likely the criminals would have been stopped, like as not by their own party, long before “drawing and quartering” was needed.
I guess I can’t see how the Dems would have been able to “control messages” and “frame debates” to the extent the neocons have. Let us hope the neocons will be proved an aberration and we never have to find out how effective a “democrat Emperor” can be.
BTW, there’s no need for the trolls to start the “Emperor Roosevelt” crap. He was more a Republican (He wasn’t a traitor to Democracy) than the neocons ever were.

Comment by grover nerdkissed — November 12, 2007 @ 10:18 pm
Not! They should be hounded to the grave. And the papers in question are already required, by law, to be preserved. This is a case where Bushco has said, in effect, “we have no intention of following the law”.
The courts have responded with, “You damn well better because we can’t protect you on this one”.
November 12th, 2007 at 10:24 pmI am not going to hold my breath here.. These guys could care less about the laws of this country. The have demonstrated that very well.
November 12th, 2007 at 10:44 pmAnd how about preserving, too, the RNC servers and all of the text-messaging toys that the Republican part provided for the White House staffers?
November 12th, 2007 at 11:17 pmWith the election just around the corner…
It’s time to get fooled again!
November 13th, 2007 at 12:00 am.
This is a dodge big enough to drive a truck through:
“We will study the court’s order and the magistrate’s recommendations,” said White House spokesman Scott Stanzel. “However, the Office of Administration has been taking steps to maintain and preserve backup tapes for the official e-mail system. We have provided assurances to the plaintiffs and to the court that these steps were being taken. We will continue preserving the tapes in compliance with the court’s order.”
Ah. But what about the “unofficial” e-mail system.
November 13th, 2007 at 12:03 amCan they shred the hard drives on the RNC servers?
November 13th, 2007 at 12:22 amA tad late, you Bush asslicker!! Let’s hope for the best, but too many months have passed.
November 13th, 2007 at 12:36 amToo little, too late. 18 1/2 minutes pales by the sheer enormity and arrogance of this cover up of an on-going criminal conspiracy.

November 13th, 2007 at 7:18 amIt will be impossible for the White House or RNC to destroy all emails. At least some of these emails are cached out there somewhere. Since most activities of this White House are criminal in nature, it won’t take very many emails to incriminate them.

not untouchable at all. they will be destroyed, and Bush will hang for his crimes.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:12 amAre there any left. They must have gotten rid of the email a long time ago.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:34 amIt’s a waste of tax payer money to go after these emails. There are numerous ways for the administration to stone wall the requests. One can desire an ideal scenario of transparency and the like. One can also argue about the need to preserve a semblance of secrecy within the Executive. The realistic bottomline is – it doesn’t matter. Nothing will happen. However, precious resources will be wasted. The legislature should be using its time preserving our national security, eradicating crime and getting the illegals outta here.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:38 amYa can’t save what ya don’t have! They’ve been stalling all this time to make sure that any additional “reeking e-bums” have been properly wiped. The records for this administration will look like swiss cheese. The only thing left for the historians to glean is that the president once spoke about something at a prayer breakfast at some point during his administration–and that the terrorists might win if we know anything more.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:39 amYou have to be dumber than a bag of toe nail clippings to not comprehend the CRIMINAL ACT of destroying archived e-mails.
But what else would you expect from the liar-in-thief?

He will either hang or run to paraguay. he will never be allowed to live out his life in the USA. You 20%ers that hate your country can count on that, and you can also count on your voice growing smaller and dimmer over the next several years, as we remove you traitors from power and restore freedom and democracy to the USA. I know yiou hate the idea, bigmouth, bit that’s just too bad. our lunatic finge minority vierpint has poisoned the well for long enough. just get over yourself: you’re an enemy of America, and nobody listens to you.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:12 amfunny how hitz and bigass don’t know that the history of this country is as a liberal democracy, not their fantasy of hitler born again. Your hitler is going to be hanged, boys, that’s a fact.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:14 am“The legislature should be using its time preserving our national security, eradicating crime and getting the illegals outta here.”
All of which would be accomplished by getting the emails. why does hits hate America and our Constitution?
November 13th, 2007 at 9:17 amIMPEACHMENT is the only means we have of stopping the devastating consequences of the unrelenting IGNORANCE, ARROGANCE, INCOMPETENCE, DISHONESTIES, INSECURITIES, HOSTILE TEMPERAMENT, VINDICTIVENESS and PRONOUNCED PSYCHOLOGICAL DEFECTS of George W. Bush. He is an intellectually and emotionally mean-spirited immature child who is destroying America’s honor and integrity single-handedly. And politically correct Democrats are standing by watching as he dismantles our Constitution and rules of law creating an all powerful and self-ruling/policing ONE branch oppressive/fascist American government. No individual in our history is more deserving of CONDEMNATION and IMPEACHMENT than George W. Bush! His legacies are DEATH, DESTRUCTION and CHAOS. America must DENOUNCE his actions and policies as CRIMINAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL and IMMORAL!
November 13th, 2007 at 9:19 amThis administration needs to be ordered to obey the law and there are posters here that will try to defend this. King George isn’t the only one not wearing any clothes.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:43 amBigfoot, do you support the notion that Bush is within his rights to destroy official govt. records even though, by law, the white house has to keep them?
November 13th, 2007 at 10:06 amAnd do we believe that Bush will comply with the judge’s orders?
November 13th, 2007 at 10:15 amExpressing the idea that there are going to be any hangings of our duly elected representatives, or the majority that supports them, or even supporting the idea, merely identifies people for the mentally-unstable America-hating individuals they are.
Perhaps a visit to Fort Stanton, New Mexico is in order, for a little rendition….or a couple of historic art prints.
Comment by O. Bigfoot — November 13, 2007 @ 9:52 am
when are you making that visit, traitor? You’re not funny either, and on top of that you’re dead wrong about the way this will play out. Bush is no duly elected official, and y8ou know it. He will hang or be run out of the USA, and his supporters had better keep a very low profile when that happens. You can call it hate or anger; either way, it’s not going to go well for you. Ft. Stanton is your future home.
November 13th, 2007 at 10:41 amoh, bigfoot, by the way, maybe while you’re in New Mexico you can learn that 20% of the populace, your lunatic fringe, is not the majority. I see that you have a real problem with fact and logic, but that shows your utter stupidity very clearly.
November 13th, 2007 at 10:44 am“Expressing the idea that there are going to be any hangings of our duly elected representatives, or the majority that supports them, or even supporting the idea, merely identifies people for the mentally-unstable America-hating individuals they are.”
You sound just like the Nazis. It will work out the same way for you, loser.
November 13th, 2007 at 10:45 amThis administration is in violation of The Federal Records Act since 2003. Bigfoot may want to coninue to be blind folded but the American people are standing up to this administration in order to abide by our laws. We are a nation of laws, not of men with less than honorable intentions. A covert agent for the CIA was exposed by this administration and there are emails related to this. Karl Rove is in violation of the same act for using the RNC email instead of the white house’s while conducting official govt. business. Other officials have admitted to this as well.
Bigfoot wants to ignore this. He has a right to be ignorant. The rest of America wants to know. We deserve to know.
November 13th, 2007 at 10:53 amThe joke’s on you. He will live out his days in comfort, and in 20 years, he will have a hero’s legacy and be considered and “elder statesmanâ€. After all, if it could happen to Dick Nixon….
Comment by O. Bigfoot — November 13, 2007 @ 8:33 am
I suspect you’re right. If Bush can hang on until the end of his term, he will retire quietly on his presidential pension while short attention-spanned America moves on. If Bush CAN’T hang on until the end of his term, he will resign before he can be removed from office (like Nixon), and retire comfortably on his presidential pension (like Nixon) while short attention-spanned America moves on.
The difference in scenarios here is that Nixon, though a crook, was actually smart. He had an understanding of foreign policy that other politicians sought out. Bush doesn’t, and I doubt anyone will seek him out for any advice whatsoever. Cheney, on the other hand, seems to have a brain (a diabolical one), and he may be able to reinvent himself as an elder statesman figure to the one-quarter of the country who support him.
