The fact that they would equate an independant liberal blogger with a paid Bush shill is mind boggling.

Meanwhile I have a prediction I’d like to share. I hope someone remembers this when it happens, because my prediction is so sure, it almost feels preordained. At some point. Rove is going to say something so monumentally false, Markos will have no moral option but to call him on it. Newsweek will hem and haw about honoring Markos’ content, Markos will then spill the backstage drama over at Dailykos, and Newsweek will conveniently let him go. They will claim they don’t allow their journalists or columnists to denigrate their other jornalists or columnists anywhere in public, even if it’s the journalist/columnist’s own blog. It’ll all be a load of nonsense, but it will be a deliberate attempt to make Markos, and by extension the blogging/netroots community, look like petulant WATBs. Then, adding insult to injury, in order to restore “balance,” they will hire a supposedly progressive columnist at least 27 steps to the right of Markos. How un-Marloslike will this new columnist be? If we’re lucky(!) it’ll be Alan Colmes or someone of his ilk.

Karl Rove will have an assistant do it.

Newsweek knows full well that they’re getting one seasoned political writer and one nameless intern.

That’s all you need to know about the trustworthiness and honor of the publication known as Newsweek.

And let us not forget the critical, unique role Hitler played in World War II.

Who would be the NPR liberals? Mara Lisson, who goes on FOX and argues that Democrats are creeps, or Gwen Ifill, who goes to barbecues at her good friend Condi Rice’s house and then lobs her big fat softballs in interviews?

If Newsweek wants to display a bias by setting up Markos to look bad and Rove to look good (and so far there isn’t any evidence they plan to do this), let ‘em.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. And the proof of the punditry is in the writing. It will be the ideas that matter in the end.

You know, I might have had the tiniest shred of respect for you, ‘Beefeater’, if you’d called the defeated Democratic challenger to Joe Lieberman by his real name. But you had to go and call him “Nerd Lament.” How very…..gradeschool of you. We grew out of calling each other nerds and dweebs about the same time we grew out of assuming that the other gender had cooties. I guess you still think girls have cooties…

I don’t think you can actually reach that level of stupidity, no matter how hard you try ;-)

This “he said, she said” format the American media likes to use so much, irritates me to no end. Sometimes, the truth simply doesn’t lie somewhere in between. Like in this case; Rove was the advisor to one of the worst US presidents in recent history (if not since the US was born).

This format also allows the media to be lazy, complacent and abdicate their responsibility to actually inform the audience. The excuse “but.. but… we present both sides” is no substitute for accurate, objective reporting.
