“As units that are rotating in and out overlap briefly” this week in Iraq, “the U.S. troop number will hit 175,000 — the largest presence so far in the 4 1/2 -year war.” Those numbers will come down, however, in the next “several months.”

Troop presence will come down in the next several months as more of our entrapped, lied-to national guardsmen are murdered by the Bush administration. they are more efficient at killing our troops than the enemy.
but, wait, didn’t I see somewhere in the left wing media that W has already started bringing troops home? Where was that, the WaPo I believe.
So, how can it be then that for the next several months (the Holiday Season no less) our troop levels will be at their highest since the war began?
More willing suspension of disbelief, ala Hillary.

funny how all of those generals were fired, and we are left with the dregs, the submissive politicians like betrayus, and are still losing to a bunch of disorganized rebels who are buiding their own weapons when not supplied with ours by the DOD hacks.
>Ohhhhh, you wanted to listen to the generals back then, just not now.
Oh im listening now, and Im wondering why General Sanchez is being such a party pooper and deciding that now, when everything is supposedly going so well, he’s decided to call iraq a “nightmare” and the surge a “desparate ploy”.
The guys got his own baggage, but needless to say, as a soldier with experience in iraq, his current pessimism is pretty difficult to explain in the light of supposedly what magic we’re working over there at the moment.
Sanchez and Betrayus are singing very different tunes.. to be honest, my gut is going to go with the person who isnt getting paid to sing his song…
Lefty – Good idea, let’s bring back what’s-her-name, the one who had oversight for Abu Grhaib – she was a true leader !
Your Betrayus comment is indicative of the fact you have little if any knowledge on the subject, other than what is spoon fed by the folks who spew your choice of venom.
BTW – did you hear that there were more soldiers killed in peace-time due to training, etc accidents than in Iraq AND Afghanistan combined. Were you just not interested when they were dying on base as opposed to Iraq ??
Funny that you should continue to refer to a highly educated and experienced general as “Betrayusâ€; that whole “libs love the troops too†thing just flew out the window along with your credibility.

All Iraqis call him “Betrayus.” They don’t have the letter P in Arabic. We’re just being culturally-sensitive, that’s all.

That would be Gen’l Patreaus, right. He just makes crappy army money, Sanchez is a big time correspondent and I’m sure has a mega-book deal in the works. Who stands to make more $$, the guy who writes about what an idiot the President is, or the one who takes shots for telling us that we are making progress…

Betrayus is your tool, and your defense of such a suckup and hypocrite is not surprising. here’s a guy that won’t even follow the guidelines he wrote IN HIS OWN BOOK! He’s a traitor, and a mass-murderer in the same mold as the cowardly Deserter-In-Chief and 5-deferment Dick. And he’s all you losers have left; what a shitstain on America you and they are.

You think supporting and fraternizing with people who fraudulently led us to war on false pretenses isnt a betrayal of a countries people and their trust? Chalabi has close to zero popular support, so there must be some other reasons he’s cosying up to the man other than an effort to muster support with the iraqi people..

Barack Obama put his political career on the line in 2002 to speak out against a “dumb war” and “a rash war” in Iraq. He warned of, “an occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined costs, with undetermined consequences.” Read this speech – he got it right.

Well, that’s the conservative way, isn’t it? Support people as long as they’re politically useful, then dump them.
They support fetuses while they’re in the womb, then dump them as soon as they’re born and need health care.
They support the troops while they’re fighting (though not necessarily with things like body armor and R&R), then dump them at Walter Reed and when they’re suffering from PTSD.
They support the 9/11 recovery workers when they’re at Ground Zero, but dump them when they start suffering illness from the toxins they breathed.
They support the hurricane survivors for a photo-op, then dump them as soon as they realize they can shift NOLA’s voting demographic.
They support democratic principles in the Middle East, then dump the countries who don’t vote for who we like.
Support from this administration is fleeting indeed!

NOTE: This is all “pre-surge” and before the ‘06 election. It continues to this day.
HOW THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SUPPORTS TROOPS,
1: Falling recruitment/retention and relaxing of standards for military service. Not to mention casualties.
2: Reduced orders for: F-22, F-35, Assorted tanks, armored vehicles and ships.
3: Remanufactured worn M16’s in lieu of new rifles.
4: Cancellation of contracts for next generation personal weapons; wasting, in effect, the R&D costs.
5: Transfer of equipment from training facilities to overseas deployments.
6: Postponing the retirement of obsolete equipment; from B-52’s to tents.
7: Exhausting Reserve and National Guard units in combat operations.
8: Accelerated training in all branches of the military resulting in a “training gap†between veteran soldiers and new recruits.
9: Expending big buck “smart munitions†on targets with little, or no, strategic importance.
10: Increased security at foreign bases to prevent retaliatory attacks.
11: Extending combat deployments to the point where the effectiveness of troops is compromised.
12: No bid contracts for mercenaries/contractors while the military scrambles to equip troops.
13: Firing senior officers who dare speak the truth.

Generals and Admirals get to their command positions through an orchestrated 20-30 year campaign of hob-nobbing with the right people and going to the right cocktail parties to get the right posts and the right promotions at the right time.
Do they gain experience and education in the process? Sure. But is that what gets them the top jobs? Not really. Just like in the corporate and political worlds, it’s who they know that really counts.
>I hear the Jooos were involved too, they are involved in everything >though so no surprise.

Well! Obviously you’ve never heard of the Advanced SEAL Delivery System, designed to launch Navy SEALS from Virginia-class U-boat directly onto dry land inside a modified torpedo.
When I taught in post graduate programs, we often compared training anyone over thirty to pouring water through a sieve. A lot of fluid passes through, but only a trace of moisture remains behind. Late bachelorettes were another matter. They tended to earn about 20% more then the late PhD’s on average.
I had an uncle who earned his bachelorette at 58. In the meantime, he built his own home, laying each and every brick and cutting or placing every piece of wood. He also rose to the boardroom of a major defense contractor. That was an example of motivation. I would also note that he was a victim of the Depression – sending a sister and two brothers towards higher education through work that could be best described as pure sweat. (Two PhD’s and One MD).

Meanwhile the exec sitting in the limo got impatient because he was going to miss his flight, so he leaned over the seat and blew the horn. Hits had to log off in a hurry. Good thing he doesn’t have a blackberry yet.

funny how all of those generals were fired, and we are left with the dregs, the submissive politicians like betrayus, and are still losing to a bunch of disorganized rebels who are buiding their own weapons when not supplied with ours by the DOD hacks.
November 15th, 2007 at 10:41 am>Ohhhhh, you wanted to listen to the generals back then, just not now.
Oh im listening now, and Im wondering why General Sanchez is being such a party pooper and deciding that now, when everything is supposedly going so well, he’s decided to call iraq a “nightmare” and the surge a “desparate ploy”.
November 15th, 2007 at 10:46 amThe guys got his own baggage, but needless to say, as a soldier with experience in iraq, his current pessimism is pretty difficult to explain in the light of supposedly what magic we’re working over there at the moment.

November 15th, 2007 at 10:53 amWhy didn’t Bush take out Bin Laden when he had the chance?
Is it because he would miss holding hands with Saudi royalty?
Is it because Daddy’s too deep up the Saudi collective orifice?
Is it because he could no longer justify sending young Americans to death?
Is it because he’s chickenshit?
Is it because Cheney wouldn’t approve it?
Or, is it because he’s just not capable of doing the right thing?

You think supporting and fraternizing with people who fraudulently led us to war on false pretenses isnt a betrayal of a countries people and their trust?

November 15th, 2007 at 11:10 amNOTE: This is all “pre-surge” and before the ‘06 election. It continues to this day.
HOW THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SUPPORTS TROOPS,
1: Falling recruitment/retention and relaxing of standards for military service. Not to mention casualties.
November 15th, 2007 at 11:11 am2: Reduced orders for: F-22, F-35, Assorted tanks, armored vehicles and ships.

Comment by Rovian Stormtrooper Commander — November 15, 2007 @ 11:18 am
Oh, please! I know a few Generals and Admirals who would laugh at this statement.

Let me see…Iraq was invaded under false allegations of National security threats. And the Generals that participated in the action are no YES MEN???
Now, the creepy question, with all the US technology, do you think the Generals from West Point didn’t know Iraq had not a nuclear arsenal? I mean, they didn’t have an airforce. It doesnt take a PhD to use common sense.
BTW, the excuse of national security has been proven to work so fine over US population.
Somebody remember what was the excuse of Eisenhower to impose the economic embargo over Cuba? National Security, yes.
Somebody the Torricelli law from Bush I admin regarding the economic embargo? Or the Helms-Burton after that? What ws the excuse then? Yes, democracy and spreading freedom.

A majority of the signers of the Declaration of Independence lost their fortunes through the war effort. Let’s see which Iraq-war proponents have done that? There’s… um…I’m sure the top 1% who got those tax cuts are funding this war, no?, OK, then maybe…um…some bigwig Republican politician must have given up his office and enlisted, no?, well…

November 15th, 2007 at 12:47 pmI had an uncle who earned his bachelorette at 58.

How about all the innocent civilians killed in Iraq compared to 81-82 peacetime? What about our credibility in the world? The billions spent? That was the most idiotic irrelevant story I’ve seen, even for Fox.
