Weepy Boehner breaks down again on House floor.

Weepy Boehner breaks down again on House floor.»

Last night during the House floor debate on the Iraq redeployment legislation, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) nearly broke down in tears. Boehner paused, choked up, and his voice wavered as he tried to get out this sentence: “For my kids and their kids, success in Iraq is critically important.” Watch it:

As ThinkProgress previously noted, Boehner teared up in May and also in February during the Iraq debates.

And does Boner know that Iraq had nothing to do with AQ or 911?

And if the boogie man is everywhere, why are we helping recruit them in Iraq?

Fascist Repukians make no sense what so ever.

Here’s a hanky for you Boner.

  7. Elspeth R Says:

what an effing pansy!!! He can’t legitimately argue a real reason to stay in Iraq, so he is gonna pull a “waah waaah”!?!?! Grow up and get a pair. If “success in Iraq” is so all-fired important for HIS kids and THEIR kids - why doesn’t he try getting a uniform and go over there to “succeed”!?!?
Damn, but I hate these candy @sses.

  8. TripMaster Monkey Says:

I’m getting really sick of this jackass and his crocodile tears. His attempts to manipulate with emotion are as nauseating as they are transparent.

Are any of Boehner’s “kids” actually in Iraq right now?

  9. joe cantwell Says:

damnit can’t you see it’s a cry for help?

    johnny, we hardly knew ye

  10. Jay Randal Says:

Boner is a silly crybaby, so he needs to resign from the House ASAP. Plus he seems to be a hypocrite closeted goofball as well.

  11. robbez_92107 Says:

“Iraq is the place to do it (stand up to the Islamo-marxo-facists and for American values).”

Just keep rubber stamping, Boner. All the way out of office.

  12. dim wit Says:

For my kids and their kids we need to kill some more Iraqi kids.

  13. JMOHR Says:

Where is the attack by the left against this girlie man? Sounds like a pretty weak individual and a coward to breakdown this often. Why do we not attack him?

Boehner believes in a strong defense and the necessity of the US to stand up against the overwhelming enemies that confront it. However, is it as dire as this - man - suggests? It seems that this - man - breaks down and cries every time Iraq is discussed. (Show clips of several different speeches with scroll at bottom with date and issue) Is a - man - this emotional really capable of reacting to the threats against the United States in a rational manner or is this - man - a little too overwhelmed by the challenges and his own fears to judge what is best for the country.

  14. CalGal Says:

Does he put one of his fingers near his eye? I saw an actress do that (with stuff to make you cry on your finger) and she taught her kid to do it to. Maybe he’s been taking acting classes. Stephanie Miller always calls him “boner”, which is what I call him. I’m sure “boner” is the correct pronunciation, but he doesn’t want people to call him a boner. He’s such a waste of breath.

  15. missmolly Says:

If it’s kids that get him all choked up, I assume he voted for expanded SCHIP funding? (Oh wait…it’s only HIS kids he’s worried about. And he’s got medical insurance.)

Is anybody gullible enough to fall for this crocodile-tears routine?

  16. mary Says:

He reminds me of Pee-Wee Herman for some reason. Has a kind of adolescent look about him.

  17. Jay Randal Says:

How long before Boner is exposed in bed with a male hooker? I am taking bets on this: one month, 6 months, or just before next November election?

  18. mary Says:

You know, I want to cry whenever I think about Iraq too. But I’m not in a position to do anything about it.

  19. Frosty Cupcake Says:

    Nope. Notice what he says:

“For my kids and their kids, success in Iraq is critically important”

He’s weeping for the future of HIS kids (and the kids of other Congresscritters, of course) if we don’t beat the terrists. Wonder he doesn’t weep for the humungus credit card bill he’s gonna be stickin’ ‘em with for the cost of the war.

  22. RUCerious Says:

    The term EMOTE
    is perfect for this occasion.

Crocodile tears flowing, boner emoted whilst on the House Floor.

  23. ralph the wonder llama Says:

  27. ralph the wonder llama Says:

  28. jgrant@goldfeinlaw.com Says:

Boehner seemed to me to slur his words a lot last night.
I would swear he had a couple drinks before he spoke .
Still their arguments make no sense .
    We won .
Its stable enough to bring the troops home now .
But Bush would rather the soldiers do repeated deployments and risk death until its election time next year then he’ ll bring the soldiers home even though he could have brought them home much sooner.
    WATCH OUT FOR THE SUMMER/FALL (S/F)SUPRISE .
Thats why (sorry )Hillary shouldnt be the nominee because along with Bush claiming the S/F victory republicans will be riled up and come out in droves .

  29. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre Says:

Miss Boner is crying because Bush imperial aggression against the Iraqi people seems to have hit a few snags…

  30. MarkD Says:

If he’s so worried about his kids’ futures, how is he going to explain to them that his decisions are going to effectively cost them tens of thousands of dollars to pay for a war he thought should be put on the country’s credit card?

  31. Jay Randal Says:

Boner basically worries about keeping a suntan on his face, playing Golf without any skill, and having the Iraq fiasco end on his watch.

  32. MarkD Says:

Whoops … missed “ralph the wonder llama”’s comments.

  33. toasterhead Says:

Which American values are we standing up for in Iraq, exactly? The big bully beating up smaller kids for their lunch money is not exactly the type of example I want my country to set for my kids.

  34. Jim Says:

Geez. I guess if Boehner starts crying, he must really mean what he’s saying. Therefore, we should continue pissing billions of dollars–and thousands of American and Iraqi lives–down the rat hole that is this foolish, illegal, immoral, and unnecessary war.

  35. Wordsmith Says:

Is Boehner going thru menopause? I mean, really - I’m tired of this. Please - I DON’T cry this much and I am going thru menopause.

It’s obviously worth spending the money if it keeps Boner from feeling so sad. Do you really want that on your conscience?

  40. Uncle Ho Says:

Since Bonehead thinks the line in the sand is in Iraq, is he going to enlist himself?

You know what made ME tear up? That bit that Brian Williams just showed on TV, when the soldier, just returning from Iraq, surprised his kid in school. The kid ran up to him, jumped into his arms, crying, and said something to the effect that, “I didn’t think I’d see you again.”

Yeah, THAT made me tear up. More than once. Boehner’s an a-hole.

This is a man who hands out tobacco lobby checks on the floor of Congress right before votes affecting the tobacco industry. He’s a man who is raking in money off of this war from defense industry lobbyists and Abramoff clients. He protected Mark Foley even though he knew he was sexually harrassing underage Congressional pages. He has supported every erosion of our Constitution during the Bush administration.

What he’s really crying about is how much money he stands to lose if the Iraq War is ended.

  48. Coffins Draped with a Flag Says:

Will Boehner stand up and support a “draft” to fulfill his dream of winning all the wars on terror? No, he will run like the crying baby coward that he is.

  49. Jay Randal Says:

    Probably DHEA.

What a dope this Bonehead or whatever is. Maybe we should do the following:

Stop meddling in other country’s affairs

    Stop putting dictators in power

    Stop funding Israel

    Stop fighting wars for oil

Develop multiple forms of alternative energy quickly

Show some guts on the domestic end and impeach Bush and Cheney

Bonehead is pushing the “perpetual war” against Eurasia.

    War is Peace

Exactly right. I’ve been noticing this for 6 years now. What happened to the republican swagger? What happened to their bravery? They were the tough party until 19 furriners attacked us. Now they run when they hear thunder. What a bunch of wimps.

  58. DigDug Says:

I worked with someone like this. A person that lied compulsively and contantly, which naturally got him into a lot of trouble in our company.

And when ever he got into a tight spot, or felt like he had to really make strong point about something, out would come the waterworks. He could turn it on like turning on a light.

When I watch Bohner I see the same thing. Exactly the same thing.

  59. Menehune Says:

Is it possible that some of these clowns really, really believe their own BS? It could be possible that in his mind we really are engaged in the defining struggle of our age. Blubberin’ Boehner actually seems to believe that he is the only thing standing between freedom and vast hordes of scimitar-wielding jihadis streaming over our borders. Nutter.

  60. DigDug Says:

He’s not sad, he’s not thinking about something deeply upsetting to him personally, he’s just acting.

  61. Coffins Draped with a Flag Says:

What makes me cry was learning about all the suicides committed by returning vets and all the homeless vets and all the broken families because of this war and all the families that witnessed coffins draped with flags… the returning coffins that the public is not allowed to see. That’s what brings tears to my eyes. And in German his name would be pronounced “beener”. The second vowel is long in German names.

  65. Bad Eye Says:

    Please?

  66. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

Boehner was discharged from the Navy during the Vietnam war after 8 weeks of training due to a “bad back.” (Sure). I don’t mind a man or a woman crying when it’s appropriate, but this guy is either an idiot who is completely out of touch with reality or a conscious manipulator. This is what happened last May when he broke down during another debate about Iraq:

“Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) broke down on the House floor today, sobbing uncontrollably as he urged his colleagues to vote in favor of the $100 billion Iraq war spending bill.

“Members on both sides of the aisle feel differently about our mission in Iraq and our chances of success there,” Boehner said, pausing to compose himself. As he continued, Boehner began to weep openly, crying out: “After 3,000 of our fellow citizens died at the hands of these terrorists, when are we going to stand up and take them on? When are we going to defeat them?”

    http://thinkprogress.org/ 2007/ 05/ 24/ boehner-weeps-again/

NOTE his link between 911 and the Iraq war.

    And then there’s this:

“In 1993, current House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) voted numerous times to limit the deployment of troops in Somalia, including one bill that set a six-month timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. forces.

Like several other war supporters who once backed timelines, Boehner now attacks those who favor redeploying U.S. troops out of Iraq’s civil war as “defeatists” who want a “date certain for surrender.”

But Boehner has taken this hypocrisy to a new level. Despite clamoring for a withdrawal from Somalia in 1993, he had the temerity to charge yesterday that war critics were “walk[ing] out” on Iraq “just like we did in Somalia.”

Unbelievable. Someone give this “man” an Emmy for that performance. He gets all choked up thinking about HIS children and grandchildren… yet fails totally to recognize that he is not acting in an old western, where “lines in the sand” get drawn.

IF what Bushco says is true, our enemy is nation-less and respects no borders. Our enemy can be anywhere. How in the hell can any reasonable person buy into the lie that our enemy has somehow conveniently located themselves in Iraq for us to fight?

Mr. Boehner, you and those like you, cry your alligator tears while you absolutely spurn every ounce of logic and common sense. Word - you fail at leadership. Utterly. Totally. Get off the floor of MY congressional hall.

Does Boehner cry for the vets of his war in Iraq who come home to find health care is substandard for them, the red tape is prohibitive, and their benefits are non-existent?

Does he cry for the families of those who have died in this misbegotten war?

Does he cry for the loss of freedom and democracy in America? For the defiling of the Constitution?

Perhaps The Boner is aspiring to become Lawton Smalls’ alter-ego. If you haven’t heard Lawton before, he is a hilarious Gomer-Pyle version of a wannabe Christian-Reich neocon. Despite his false bravado, he occasionally reverts to brief fits of crying. You can find free audio clips at: http://www.thesnotgreensea.com
