On Monday night at the 35th International Emmy Awards, Robert DeNiro will present Al Gore with the Founders Award. The honor is not only “in recognition of his role in raising the alarm about global warming, but also for his efforts in launching the interactive Current TV.” Earlier this year, Gore also won an Emmy award for the global television network, which allows viewers to “create and influence what airs on TV.”

Poor baby George is waiting for his award of the worse President of the United States of America.

“Relief aid is pouring into Bangladesh as rescue teams battle to reach remote areas devastated by the country’s worst cyclone in a decade, amid fears the death toll could be much higher than the official figure to date of 2,300.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, the Islamic equivalent of the Red Cross, warned the toll could hit 10,000 once rescuers reach outlying islands.”

A.P. Reports:
A U.S. military medical team is already in Bangladesh and two Navy ships — the USS Essex and USS Kearsarge — each carrying at least 20 helicopters and tons of supplies, will be made available if the Bangladesh goverment requests them, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said.

On another note, of course the Neo-Cons hate Gore getting any recognition. Strangely silent in all of these awards is Alex Jones, Mike Rivero of Whatreallyhappened, Jeff Rense, Ron Paul, and all of the “Libertarians”. They still keep saying, “Al Gore wants to take away our land, F-150s, Ford Explorers, and replace them with Sissy Cars like Tesla Motors Lithium Ion Powered Electrics”. If those guys stuck with 9/11 and the police state, I would respect them more.

I guess it’s too much to ask for them to actually criticize real decisions and actions, instead of the ones they imagine. Ah well, they never WERE that big on the reality-based world.
November 18th, 2007 at 10:54 pmI’m sorry I brought it up. In my defense I didn’t think even a troll would use my heartfelt wish that we could do more as an opportunity to condemn an entire religion. Y’all got nothing. Nothing! You and your perverse ideology(ies) have been proven null and void. You are jesters on the world stage, quickly making your way to the dustbin of failed political ideologies.
The Bush Administration has proven once and for all that Republicans are incapable of governing wisely or honorably. Republicans are buffoons. They are spendthrifts and thieves.
You losers actually threw Gore to the side to elect a feckless, thieving, war criminal and his cabal of war profiteers. America will pay the price for your idiocy in treasure, instability, and blood. Seen the value of a dollar lately? The economy is so fundamentally screwed-up that a larger war will be the only way out. I don’t think you’ll be gettin’ a deferral on this one.
You could have had a very intelligent patriot, a man who can understand the complex interactions of a globalized community and economy. Instead, you chose an incompetent boob who believes he is doing god’s work while steadily waging war and paying off his cronies.
Remember when Bush was touted as America’s CEO President? Whadda’ ya’ think now that he’s looted the treasury and wiped his fascist ass on your Constitution? He’s a bungler.
Even your majority Congress betrayed the values you elected them on: smaller government and lower taxes. That’s a hoot. It turns out, Republicans couldn’t manage a popcorn stand without running a deficit and stealing from the till.
And y’all had the freekin’ audacity to belittle Al Gore (a real soldier, BTW – not like your poseurs Bush and Cheney).
Y’all got NOTHING!
And while I’m at it, why don’t y’all lay off bashing all the gays. Hell, your party has more freaky sex fiends than the internets tubes. Talk about throwing stones at glass houses! Jeeeeeezus!
Did I mention, y’all got nothing.
And, another thing: why did you vote for this system in the first place? Are you wealthy? Do you own a corporation? Do you make over 250K a year? If you answered no to these questions, you voted against your own best interests, and that’s just stupid.
Did you vote against abortion and/or stem cell research and/or Terri Schiavo and/or the War on Yacksmas? If you did, that moves you beyond the realm of stupid and into the category of fools. Do you honestly think that any of your leaders – including your religious leaders – give a damn about an aborted fetus? Well, they don’t. They care about picking your pocket with one hand and wanking you with the other. Aborted fetuses, my ass.
Y’all got nothing. No. Thing.
Al Gore, is basically a good person, a smart person, and a patriot – these facts alone stand in stark contrast to the filth y’all drug in.

I know this a point of contention for Gore doubters, but if we drive a car, then we are being also somewhat hypocritical. The best any person can do is to be as green as they possibly can, and be aware of the impact our actions and their consequences on the world around us. When electric and hydrogen fuel cars are plentiful, then perhaps we can be a step closer to being 100% real environmentalists.

Fine, cool with me, as long as we understand that it wont happen overnight, that we still need to burn coal and oil for now and that certain ecogroups have decided that the really effective forms of alternative energy dont jive with THEIR worldview.

November 19th, 2007 at 12:09 amA great comment from another blog:
The normal state of Earth’s climate, i.e. average climate is a snowball, much colder than today. Been this way for the last 4,000,000 years, roughly 100,000 year ice age cycles. The Holocene climate optimum, the maximum if you will, occurred at about 6-8,000 years ago, so it is expected we should be going down in temperature about now — and we are. The current warm period began about 11-12000 years before present time — We may be now headed towards a new ‘Dalton Minimum’ or worse. The average duration for interglacial periods, what we are in now, is 10,000 years. We have about overstayed our welcome.
The last time CO2 went up, it was about 20 times today’s values, the last time the temperature rose, many degrees higher than today, the net effect was lots of big plants grew quickly. You see, plants and all the things that depend on them, do really well when it’s warm.
Oh yeah, almost forgot, about that CO2 thing, CO2 lags temperature, does not force temperature. CO2 is a minor trace gas in the atmosphere. About 95% of all greenhouse effect on Earth is caused by water vapor. Without the greenhouse effect, think Mars — No carbon life forms.
The hysteria is about the UN wants your money, so they can pretend to control the weather — Here is a question you should ask yourselves before forking over the money — how will you know what they are doing with the money, what effect it’s having, or how well things are going? They want with it, no strings attached, including making it theirs — Just like Oil For WMDs program they ran for Iraq, remember that?. Nothing new here.
BTW, the UN IPCC says that if they implement all their recommendations, it will do nothing to change the climate. Yep zero, or so close it won’t matter. Ask them.

November 19th, 2007 at 12:22 ammuckdog, Mars has plant-based and perhaps organisms life as indicated by the Martian Meteorite found about 10 years ago, and the changing seasons. 11,000 years ago did not hydrocarbons accelerating the greenhouse effect as we have today.
UN controlling the weather is Exxon/Mobil contrarians, and people like Alex Jones and Mike Rivero. Also, controlling the weather, and effecting climate change are two different things. the phenomena known as “Chemtrails” or as the government and Colin Powell says is “Aerosol Mitigation”. that’s a whole other topic, and not worth going into much detail now.

November 19th, 2007 at 12:26 amA minor point. The data used by the IPCC comes from many independent sources. One fact is certainly not in dispute. That is; CO2 levels are higher than any in 700,000 years according to the oldest ice cores we have found.

November 19th, 2007 at 1:07 amI wonder if the author considered that since Bananas grow only in certain tropical regions, what the other 3 quarters of the globes population were supposed to eat?

Be nice. “Wondering” isn’t in their programming. I think you can find the video on YouTube if you search “Banana Creationism”. I’d search for it but, alas, it’s time for this “naked ape” to go to bed.
G’night humans.
November 19th, 2007 at 1:15 amYou too trolls.
Well, now we know the source of information our little troll muckdog relies on to expand his knowledge of global climate change: Anonymous posts in some random website, no evidence or citations needed. I am still LOL’ing after following his silly link.
And that is the problem with the pinheaded reichwingers: They think a scientific debate on climate change is simply about opinions, and that their uninformed opinion is about as good as the opinion of thousands of climate scientists who have spent -quite literally- their entire lives studying our planet’s climate.
It would seem conservatives in the US have little choice but to be anti-science, you know, reality having a well-known liberal bias and all….
November 19th, 2007 at 1:16 amgore sucks
November 19th, 2007 at 1:19 amAL Gore gives the green movement a bad name. He’s capitalizing on an honest movement. And his wife loves censoring artists. Total slime bags.
Not to mention as president of the senate he didn’t challenge the obvious dubious results of the floritda vote in 2000.
Anyone who supports Gore is a sell out.

I am not really sure what your peeve is, but helping raise awareness of a very important issue is hardly “giving it a bad name”.
Gore’s wife “loves censoring artists”? What in the world are you talking about?
November 19th, 2007 at 1:26 amI’m so sick of neo liberals. You guys cant be challenged without immediatly thinking of right left ideologies. I’m a liberal. I’m not one of those that blindly supports anything thats affiliated with liberalism. That’s neo liberalism. which is just blowback from neo conservatism. We’re not supposed to become more liberal to combat radical conservatism. We need to just stand our ground and be the section of this country that uses common sense!
Americans have lost their minds.
November 19th, 2007 at 1:28 amAll Al Gore had to do is sign the deed that the house put forth challenging the results and the supreme court. And he didn’t do it. you stfu and quit being such a pundit man.
November 19th, 2007 at 2:10 amoh and do you like having warning labels on cd’s? do you like your first amendment right being rewritten and dictated to you by lame ass disney types? You’re not much of a liberal if you dont live and die for the right to free speech.
November 19th, 2007 at 2:12 amyou folks dont know how to take criticism very well. I’d say that makes you the extremists. Not me.

Why should he be? W wanted to be Prez. Gore wanted to be a rock star.
They both got what they wanted.

How little you know. W was never president, and still isn’t. he’s a petty tyrant, manpulated at at every turn, a lazy, indolent tool of those who hate americans, including his biggest supporters, the terrorist-enabling Saudis. He has taken America to it’s loest point in its history, while Gore shows the world what the Republican antiAmerican machine stole from the American people and the rest of the planet: a real man, with real ideas, and a real brain. You Bush fellators will be the future’s “Good Germans” of this era, this gullible, misled, fearsome chickenhawks who helped weaken the greatest nation on earth, turning it into a cheap whore for oil. that’s the history we will write, bigass, you can bet your life on it. Even though you won’t, cowardly as you are.

How little you understand of the process.
It required, at the very least, one member of the House AND one member of the Senate before the challenge could go forth.
Not one member of the Senate would sign on, so VPres. Gore had no choice but to allow the Supreme Court to select Pres. Bush in 2000.
If the recouring efforts had gone foward in Florida, 6 out of the 9 possible recounting scenarios would have awarded then-VPres. Gore with the Presidency, and he would have won both the popular vote as well as the electoral vote.
It’s rather ironic that the recounting efforts that then-Gov. Bush was pusing for (all districts in the entire state) would have awarded the Presidency to VPres. Gore!

Actually, neo-liberalism is structural adjustment-based economic policy, not a political movement. Neo-liberalism is the type of policy promoted by the IMF during the 1980s and 1990s persuading governments to open up their markets, privatize their industries, deregulate their banking sector, and constrain government spending. It was a dismal failure that has increased poverty worldwide.
I, too, am so sick of neo-liberals.
