Think Progress is such a funny place. I have never heard such crap. Everyone patting themselves on the back for their tuitive insight, and yet almost every bit of it is name calling and false pride. It sort of reminds me of a movie I once saw called the exorcist. Everyone spewing forth the most disgusting crap. What is even more funny is that everyone pats themselves on the back for being so wonderful. OK, I am done now, start with the insults again!

I always like seeing my stuff quoted, but you made one mistake

I was NOT responding to any troll here, I was responding to O'Reilly's claim that those involved in the rape and murder of Abeer Rasheed(?) and her family have not yet been convicted for their roles in this atrocity, and that the ringleader, Steve Green, has not yet been tried

I can see how responding to the trolls is a waste of time, but to not respond to them, or their media whore icons, like O'Reilly, Savage, Coulter, Malkin, etc, gives them an undeserved legitimacy because it gives the impression that logical people agree with what these screeching lunatics inflict on our society with every utterance

At heart, these swine, the media whores and the trolls, are nothing but cowards and bullies, and having dealt with bullies, often times the only thing they understand is a good, swift crack across their mealy, lying mouths

And that's what responding to them accomplishes, a rhetorical slap at those who deserve it most for all the damage they've inflicted on our society, raping, subverting and undermining our Constitution on an active basis

Besides, if trolls are stupid enough to post their BS on sites like this, they deserve to be used as the easily-debunked punching bags that so clearly show their clear mental limitations and absence of logic & humanity for anyone other than themselves

This is what happens when you respond to Trolls and DON'T report 'em for Abuse:

I never watch the FACTOR as I see more than enough of Billo on Countdown with KO every day. When Keith’s daily segment on Orally runs longer than 10 minutes I switch to the RFD channel and watch re-runs of antique tractor shows. What is news to me is that Orally has been replaced with Ingram and moved into the sales department at Fox. A quick review of his investment portfolio may shine a light on some mystifying conundrums. Cubans ignorance caught most off guard when viewing his status in society. Further diagnosis would be needed but on its face one could conclude his possible suffrage of the condition Savage claims afflicts some with illogical political views AND the order of everyting that is…….if you know what the meaning of is is. Comment by Billy Hill — November 19, 2007 @ 4:47 pm

So, Billyhillyboy, ’splain to us why it’s acceptable for Bill O’Reilly to advertise the movie he’s vilifying…. I’d love to see that particular spin. Hold on - lemme get my popcorn and diet Coke! Comment by Leftside Annie — November 19, 2007 @ 4:53 pm

Further diagnosis would be needed but on its face one could conclude his possible suffrage of the condition Savage claims afflicts some with illogical political views AND the order of everyting that is…….if you know what the meaning of is is. Once again our resident hick makes up a sentence with random fragments and tries to pass it off as philosophy. Chloroform it, redneck. Comment by RUCerious — November 19, 2007 @ 4:53 pm

Recognizing that there are some low-life thugs in the military does not make you unpatriatic, as chicken hawks like Bildo would have us believe. No, but running the movie WHILE THE WAR IS STILL GOING ON will harm the morale of our troops. Comment by DaleW — November 19, 2007 @ 4:56 pm

Dale: BULLSHIT. Get a grip. Our troops are being treated like crap by this administration - and they know it. Their morale sucks because of 4 and 5 deployments. Their morale sucks because the goalposts keep shifting. Their morale sucks because when they get home, it takes them 8 months to get any sort of assistance from the VA. Their morale sucks because they’re being lied to by their Commander in Chief. A film that tells the truth is not going to hurt their morale as badly as the lies they’re being fed by George W. Bush and his neocon chickenhawk advisors. Comment by Leftside Annie — November 19, 2007 @ 5:02 pm

O’Reilly has yet to comment on the fact that his show is now profiting off the promotion of a film he claims is “hurting our troops and helping the terrorists.” It really shows you how childish Cuban really is. Cuban ran the ad, and he wanted it to air during the show to make a point? O’Reilly is not in charge of Fox News marketing. “I’m Mark Cuban, look at me!! Love me, please”. What a waste of talent. And most of you buy into this nonsense. Oh, the last Iraq movie from Redford tanked badly. Really badly. So will this one. You should be embarassed if you go see this movie. Something is wrong with anyone who goes to see a movie about a teenage girl getting raped by anyone. “How did you like the movie sir?” Man-” I thought it was great actually. They showed this cute girl getting gang raped by some pretty big guys. The scene was disturbing, sort of, and the anti-US message was awesome. I’d see it again and again.” Sad! Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:03 pm

No, but running the movie WHILE THE WAR IS STILL GOING ON will harm the morale of our troops. Comment by DaleW — November 19, 2007 @ 4:56 pm
————————————
I disagree. Our troops know better than anyone else that there are SOME bad apples among them. Knowing that a film depicts one of the worst examples of those bad apples will not effect the morale of the “good apples”. You should give our troops more credit. Comment by Vet — November 19, 2007 @ 5:04 pm

#40, annie, can you provide proof that our troops’ morale sucks, and the reasons for it? No, not just a few troops, but a large majority? proof? at all? Comment by DaleW — November 19, 2007 @ 5:05 pm

There is no excuse for “Redacted.” The incident is based on a true story, but those who committed the crimes are in prison for life.
————————————
I wasn’t aware of any convictions in the real case, I thought the legal process hadn’t yet gotten to the trial stage, most notably in the case of ringleader Steven Green Comment by KingCranky — November 19, 2007 @ 5:05 pm

“I’m Mark Cuban, look at me!! Love me, please”. What a waste of talent. And most of you buy into this nonsense. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:03 pm Mark Cuban is one of those multi millionaires that you support. He doesn’t want to pay the estate tax you know… when he dies. I thought you supported these guys. Comment by Dave C — November 19, 2007 @ 5:05 pm

A film that tells the truth is not going to hurt their morale as badly as the lies they’re being fed by George W. Bush and his neocon chickenhawk advisors. Comment by Leftside Annie — November 19, 2007 @ 5:02 pm Of course it does Annie. It paints the picture that anyone in our millitary are capable of this. There are sickos in every walk of life. A few bad apples can make an entire group look like them. Just ask any soldier about the Abu Grhaid prison story. Every soldier I have spoken with says the same exact thing. “Those fu***** morons have made the entire millitary and me look bad. I hope they put them away for a long time!” It is just another attempt to hurt our troops. Show the world how bad a few are and ignore all the good. Bad news on page one. Good news on page thirteen. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:11 pm

No, but running the movie WHILE THE WAR IS STILL GOING ON will harm the morale of our troops. Comment by DaleW Yeah, the folks that live and work in that Iraq hell hole day after day don’t know how bad it is. Are you insane? Is this another troll? Its 130 degrees in summer, you wear 120 lbs of stuff on your back, all the citizens have you in their gun sights, the nations leadership is corrupt (Iraq’s too), the war on terror has no end in sight, soldiers don’t get any downtime between home and in-country, private mercs earn 25x what the typical soldier earns, DC’s leadership uses you as props - then forgets about you, etc… Our troops know best. better than YOU and better than me. Yeah, hiding what is going on over there is best for everybody - especially republicans. Comment by StratRat — November 19, 2007 @ 5:12 pm

No, but running the movie WHILE THE WAR IS STILL GOING ON will harm the morale of our troops. Comment by DaleW — November 19, 2007 @ 4:56 pm I doubt seriously this will have much impact on the morale of the troops — it’s not like this is a new story the troops haven’t heard. We are constantly told about how this, that, and the other thing will “hurt the morale of the troops”. Sorry — I think the morale of our troops is a bit tougher than that. They can handle a movie profiling a few of their own who have proven unworthy to wear the uniform. They can handle demonstrations back here in the states by people who want the war to end. They can EVEN handle those of us who blog here at TP. Our soldiers are just not that fragile. However, their morale MIGHT take a hit from conditions over there — always having to be on guard and never knowing who is an enemy and who is a friend. Or maybe being on a third deployment with very little rest in between. There are some real problems they cope with — it’s doubtful that a mere movie will overshadow them. Comment by missmolly — November 19, 2007 @ 5:16 pm

Dude Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:16 pm

So, Billyhillyboy, ’splain to us why it’s acceptable for Bill O’Reilly to advertise the movie he’s vilifying…. I’d love to see that particular spin. Hold on - lemme get my popcorn and diet Coke! Comment by Leftside Annie — November 19, 2007 @ 4:53 pm I will submit that Billo does not even know the existence of the ad. I have been told (because I never watch the show I have that 6th cents that all liberals have I already know what the show is about simply because it is on Faux Snooze therefor I never need to watch) that most of The Factors segments are “canned” and the studio just racks and runs them. If that is not true its hard to do a show and watch it at the same time as the technicians turn down the sound during commercials and the makeup girl is doing her job thus distracting him. I think this is a conspiracy inside of Fox and has something to do with Billo being taken off the air for the next 2 weeks with no explaniation. It could even be “forced community service” on his part or therapy. It will be exciting to find out what is really happening whith the “big giant head”. Comment by Billy Hill — November 19, 2007 @ 5:16 pm

Just ask any soldier about the Abu Grhaid prison story. Every soldier I have spoken with says the same exact thing. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:11 pm Ha ha ha, how many soldiers do you find in your washroom while you’re beating off? What a crock… every soldier I’ve spoken to. If you actually spoke to a soldier they’d kick you in the nuts and tell you to enlist & serve in this war that you’re cheerleading. Comment by Dave C — November 19, 2007 @ 5:17 pm

Of course it does Annie. It paints the picture that anyone in our millitary are capable of this. There are sickos in every walk of life. A few bad apples can make an entire group look like them. Comment by Southern Man To the right side, yes I believe they could not tell the difference. The right side is a very simple being. if one does it, all must do it. No fuss, no muss. They cannot think in complicated terms: left vs right, right vs. wrong - very simple terms. It sometimes takes intellect to understand a situation and correctly ascertain the wrongdoers. The right side doesn’t have the patience for that. If the daily talking points don’t arrive, theirs is a silent world. The problem is that most progressives know that the situation is complicated. Most progressives know that there are bad apples, but we don’t disrespect the entire unit or army for it. We want the individuals at fault to be held accountable. We want the entire story told, so everybody can judge for themselves. Comment by StratRat — November 19, 2007 @ 5:21 pm

Show the world? When the world already thinks that US is one of the biggest threats to the planet? Imagine yourself being from “not the US”, when you have serious news about Vietnam, Korea, Granada, NIcaragua, Guatemala, East Timor, Iraq and Serbia, where Kissinger and Albright don’t lecture about State affairs. Imagine you see an extremely powerful country where every President strikes 3 or 4 countries in each admin. Imagine you read about the million Iraqis killed and 4.5 millions displaced (Saddam’s wet dream) for reasons that have changed over the years. Imagine that you are from a poor country that decides to stop following the economical structures designed by IMF and WorldBank. It is not about liking Americans or not. It is about despising your govt’s doings all over the world since Jefferson times. Comment by Juan C. — November 19, 2007 @ 5:39 pm

Comment by Dave C — November 19, 2007 @ 5:17 pm I actually enjoy this kind of comment from people like you. It shows your inabillity to share and discuss ideas with someone who thinks differnt from you. You are a puppet for the left. “Ha Ha ha, how many soldiers do you find in your washroom while you beating off?” Wow. Again, Wow. That is ivy league stuff there. But to get back to your well written response to mine. Go out and ask ten soldiers about what they think of Abu Ghraib. I have. My best friend just returned from his third tour in Iraq. He is voluntering to go back. He stated that response I used, word for word. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:43 pm

Comment by StratRat — November 19, 2007 @ 5:21 pm It really is funny that in your mind, only progressives understand all of the complex elements that involve this war. Only liberals and progressive are smart enough to get it. You think youe elite, but you sound more foolish than Eelmer Fudd. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:47 pm

I’m a OIF veteran myself. Personally, I don’t think either side of the political aisle really “gets it”, or really understands OIF. But I do believe the dems are much closer, IMHO. This from the guy who says he pays 75% of his earnings in taxes, then walks away when he’s challenged on his math. If you’re looking for intelligent discussions start by being honest. Of course the soldiers are hurt by what happened in Abu. But they’re hurt by the fact that it happened, not that it was reported. The same goes for this movie. It’s the facts surrounding the movie that harm their reputation, not the movie. That’s something that you & billo don’t get. btw, when you spoke to your friend returning to Iraq, why didn’t you sign up & join him? Comment by Ret. Col. Jack Ripper — November 19, 2007 @ 5:33 pm Comparing the story of the last hours of Jesus Christ and a story about a few bad soldiers raping a girl is pretty lame. The bible is the most printed book on the planet Col. I can see the relevance in that movie. A story about the rape of a young girl in Iraq that happend a few years ago? Unles your into young girls gertting raped, I don’t see it. If your into Jesus(like 100’s of millions are) I get it. It sounds like strat rat may really be into the rape story line though. P.S. I never saw The Passion. How did it end? Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:55 pm

You think youe elite, but you sound more foolish than Eelmer Fudd. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 5:47 pm Hate to burst your bubble S. Man but you (and B.O.) are the ones saying “It paints the picture that anyone in our millitary are capable of this. There are sickos in every walk of life. A few bad apples can make an entire group look like them.” You believe that, because of this movie, the whole bloody world will think the whole us military are rapist. Now that is foolish. What it shows, is that the us military does not have as great control over their soldiers as they should. Of course, many, many people on the right believe that the earth was created 10,000 years ago and god actually wrote the bible so you could easily understand how these people would think the way you do. 49 - Dale - I read the papers every day. I read the stories about the soldier who came back from Iraq with part of his skull missing - who was told that he wasn’t disabled. I read the stories about how soldiers are deployed over and over and over again - and how their families suffer for it. I read the stories about the vets who can’t get jobs. I read the stories about how the VA tries to cheat our soldiers by tweaking their disability ratings downward to decrease their benefits. I read the stories about all the soldiers who kill themselves. I read the stories about how so many of our soldiers are homeless. I read the stories about how our soldiers suffer from PTSD and can’t get treatment. How the hell would you feel if you knew you were laying your life on the line for your country — and that when you came home, your country was going to kick you in the ass…? You think youe elite, but you sound more foolish than Eelmer Fudd. Comment by Southern Man Eelmer Fudd? I understand. I believe sir, you have vividly made my point. But seriously, The right side - through Bush and the neocons - have us in a never ending war with a made up enemy, fighting in the wrong country and ignoring the true threat. All for ego, revenge, and profit. Nothing else.Your argument about the film is naive. a full 70% of this country knows we are being run by a gang of idiots. The film won’t change their opinion. Only the last 23-25% think otherwise. To me, that shows an incredible dis-regard for complexity. Those last supporters truly don’t care what is best for America - only what is best for the republican party. Again no complexity - just blind support for “their team”. To be fair, simple is easy and convenient - somthing the right side likes. Comment by StratRat — November 19, 2007 @ 6:08 pm

Perpective one: O’Reilly attacks a movie, and the genius and herioc movie maker (whom we should ALL listen to for moral advice), takes a stand and places his ad on O’Reilly’s show as a protest. That’s the popular perspective here. How about this one? Perspective two: O’Reilly attacks a movie, and the movie maker, hellbent on doing anything, at any cost, to attack a man he percieves as disagreeing with him, actually ends up PAYING O’Reilly THOUSANDS of dollars in order to fund his attacks on his own movie further! …sorry, but I don’t think that’s as laudable as you all seem to think here. ————————————
How is this movie relevant? Good question. I don’t know what’s in Brian de Palma’s mind, but I would guess that he feels that, as in Viet Nam, when you put young men in a horrible situation with no clear goal and no clear, identifiable enemy, some of them will tend to do horrible things. When you can’t tell the friendlies from the hostiles, everyone tends to become an enemy and the paranoia reaches a hellish level for anyone caught in the middle. This is a fictional story which mirrors current events. I’m guessing it’s point is to make us consider the fact that we’re putting our soldiers right in the middle of hell and still expect them to do the honorable thing. I’m guessing de Palma is all about making a statement about the policy more than the troops, but that’s just my opinion and I’m not planning to see it because I don’t want to subject myself to that horror. It was “Casualties of War”. He played the bad guy to MJ Foxes good guy. It was a really bad movie that tanked at the box office. Just like the majotity of Penn’s movies. I love the fact that Sean had to play the role of a mentally challenged hanicap man to win his beloved Oscar. He went the Hoffman route. Oh, and speaking of Penn: good job on the Venezuella trip dumd ass. Chavez is already using you for propoganda. He’s a true American. He also played in “The Falcon and the Snowman” where he was a spy giving goverment secrets to the Russians. That was a true story. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 8:09 pm

Southern Man, the fact that you know someone who is proud of his service and wants to go back is interesting, but irrelevant. Now, whether or not it was good form for de Palma to make this statement regarding what our policy does to the souls of some of our soldiers while they’re still there is also a good question. Maybe de Palma felt that it would have done more good for society to make his statement regarding Viet Nam while we were still there. The Mi Lai massacre, for example, happened, I think, in 1968 and we were still occupying the country for another five years. I agree with you that a movie like this cannot be good for a given soldier’s moral, but I don’t think that’s the point of the movie at all. I think he’s talking to the people back home, not the people in the action. I think he’s saying that we need to get our people the hell out of there. Comment by Ret. Col. Yes, because art should never be about anything upsetting or disturbing. Who needs Guernica!? Its only the most amazing painting ever! And of course, we can completely trust you to be the arbiter of value of what “hurts the troops,” since you’re completely impartial.
Southern Man, spare the rhetoric. It is a documentary about what happened. I have yet to see it, but I doubt it really hurts the troops. Your arguments that it does fall well short of any reasonable standard of logic. Comment by AbsoluteCentrist — November 20, 2007 @ 3:28 am

Dale: BULLSHIT. Get a grip. Our troops are being treated like crap by this administration – and they know it.
The right side doesn’t have the patience for that. If the daily talking points don’t arrive, theirs is a silent world. The problem is that most progressives know that the situation is complicated. Most progressives know that there are bad apples, but we don’t disrespect the entire unit or army for it.
How about perspective three: Only a reich-winger would make such a hissy fit about a film and only a reich-winger would actually listen to O’Reilly for moral advice. Comment by Dr. Matt — November 19, 2007 @ 6:14 pm Actually, that’s not a perspective. It appears obvious that many of you can’t tell the difference, but subtle and uncalled for insults to people who have not said anything that attacks you directly, while using puns as jokes (such as reich for right) do NOT qualify as arguments or perspectives. I’m actually not a right winger. I think they’re every bit as stupid and foolish as the left when you go too far on either side. I don’t watch O’Reilly factor myself. In fact, I could care less about the movie, I’m actually shocked that this whole escapade made the news at all, as the movie is like as not barely going to create revenue or an audience. Its just a small indi film. However, my post referred to an action one man took, not liberalism as a whole. Yours simply insulted me because you feel threatened by anyone who doesn’t agree with you, and lack the faculties to genererate a sensible and logical response. That’s what children do. All in all, I’d say that was a miss. Comment by LawlessMP — November 19, 2007 @ 7:10 pm

What a perfect handle for you. I recall that there were people who said, “I could care less what William Calli did under fire. It’s tough for our guys over there you know.” I guess some things and some people never change. Comment by Ret. Col. Jack Ripper — November 19, 2007 @ 7:24 pm

You’re not making much sense. You’re saying that a movie which graphically depicts the torture-execution of a renegade Rabbi by an occupational force roughly 2000 years ago is “relevant,” but a movie mirroring current events, in this case one about our own soldiers raping and killing an Iraqi girl and her family is somehow NOT relevant???!!!! I don’t follow your thinking. Comment by Ret. Col. Jack Ripper — November 19, 2007 Let me simplify. Have the accused even gone to trial and been convicted of the supposed crime? No. What an inteligent and non biased approach to making a movie. This movie is being released now before we even know the outcome of the trial, to make money from the anti-war left. The Sean Penn crowd aresuckers for good ole hate America movies. How is this movie relevant? Why not make a movie of the thousands of Americans who die in it’s streets everday because of drugs, gangs, and other crimes? That would be relevant.
Comment by Ret. Col. Jack Ripper — November 19, 2007 @ 7:33 pm

to make money from the anti-war left. -SM Right, 70%+ of America is sick of this ’stay the course to nowhere’ thats not left or right SM, thats democratic America talking.
So, film makers should only make movies about the bible and your interests. How telling…. Comment by Dr. Matt — November 19, 2007 @ 6:13 pm No, film makers can make whatever they want Matt. Their timing has always interested me though. As someone who watches few movies, I could care less. I’ll tell you whats telling…stereotypes. I was told by a friend about TP a few months back. I decided to join in on the fun, and learn a thing or two. I purposefully gave myself the name “Southern Man” to put some of your bias on display. You have not dissapointed. I have been labeled everything you can possibly asociate with the south. Religon being my favorite. I did not know that only southerners went to church. I looked in the yellow pages and noticed many churches in every corner of the country. I guess no one goes to these churches that are above the Maso Dixon line. I am not religous by any means. I was married at La Maison Creole Manor. I was married to my lovely wife by a female judge. I don’t go to church and I have not yet read the bible. I have been accused of “getting over the Civil War, you lost man!” All while not ever bringing these things up. I am from the south. That does not mean I am into NASCAR and drink Mint Julieps everyday. Please continue to show your stereotypes; it shows others who you are and what you think of others based on geograhical location.

Col. Jack Ripper — November 19, 2007 @ 8:09 pm

Hey lefty, you didn’t see “The Falcon and the Snowman”? I believe it was an HBO original. And that was the storyline. I could care less what you believe lefty. I am curious as to why it is impossible for you to believe I have a friend that served in Iraq. Because I mentioned he want’s to go back? There are some soldiers who believe in what they are doing. I enjoy watching you make a fool out of yourself when some come in here and show you up. You are always the first to call people names and attack them, instead of debating them with substance. Your a joke where I come from. But please don’t ever change. Comment by Southern Man — November 19, 2007 @ 8:33 pm

Look, SM, I don’t believe you. You have lied many times about many things here, and your profound gullibillity prevents me from giving you any credence, especially that a cowardly chickenhawk like you would have a friend who’s going back to Iraq because he wants to. However, just to hedge my bet, i would have to guess that anyone foolish enough to have such a chickenhawk buddy might just be as gullible as you, and might stupidly want to head back into that clusterf**k because he believes the propaganda fed him by Limbaugh and Betrayus. Still, I hope he fares well and returns unharmed, if he does exist. I still don’t see why you’re not there beside him. Comment by Lefty Patriot — November 19, 2007 @ 8:37 pm

Between federal income tax, state tax, local tax, property tax, sales tax, gas tax, car tax, boat tax, fishing license tax….. Throw in private schools for the kids(you wouldn’t let your kids go to the public schools around here if you had the means to do so, really bad) and a few others, and thats where some of us are because of the amount of taxes that are there.
Our troops planned in advance the rape and murder of the 14 year-old girl and her entire family. For a long time, our media referred to the 14 year-old victim as a "young woman".

Charles Manson only ordered the killing of 6 (?) people and did not kill any himself. George W. Bush has killed 1,100,000 Iraq civilians and 3,871 US troops. I think that makes Bush far worse.

He honestly is trying to tell folks that he pays 75% of his earnings in taxes. Think that through and then believe that he has kids in private school. The man is full of shite.

he's a bushbot, thus a born liar. he will vote against his own financial interests every time, being ignorant and easily spooked by codewords: socialism, state's rights, etc. a perfect fool for the repigs.

Just so you know the moron you're dealing with, check out this quote...

I didn’t say I was in the top two percent. But when it’s all said and done, I pay right around seventy five percent of my income to taxes.

And a lot of people in here spew the same pathetic logic that Penn does. Well, most in here can get their thoughts across in inteligent fashion, unlike Penn.

Figures a half-wit rightard would call logic "pathetic". Try utilizing it some time, you won't sound so pathetic. Although you'll have to give up your hard-won ignorance.
