“Rumors have been flying recently that Tucker Carlson could soon be on the way out at MSNBC.” Tucker’s show is “in real danger of being canceled,” according to an NBC official, but the right won’t let him go down without a fight. TVNewswer reports that a few of Tucker’s die-hard fans have launched a petition drive to “save Tucker.” The group’s webpage states, “This decision by MSNBC will silence a conservative voice, part of a move by MSNBC to swing left and become ‘FOX for the Liberals,’ dropping any pretense of objectivity or balance.”
Tucker recently signed off his MSNBC show with this comment: “That does it for us. Thank you for watching, as always. We mean that sincerely to all eight of you.” MSNBC management was reportedly “infuriated” at Tucker’s flippant sign-off. Contact MSNBC here and tell them what you think of Tucker’s show.

Tucker is so far right that he makes Hannity look like a liberal. Good riddance, reich-wingers shouldn’t be allowed on T.V, ever, unless of course it is for public viewing of state sponsored execution.
November 26th, 2007 at 10:14 amHe’s still on TV?
Huh. News to me.
November 26th, 2007 at 10:16 amGeez, could it be possible that poor Tucker is failing as a talk show host, not because “tha libruls” are unjustly trying to silence a conservative icon, but rather because his show is just flat-out BAD?

hence, the invention of medicated “Tucks”…
November 26th, 2007 at 10:24 amI seriously doubt that MSNBC is trying to “swing left” and oust Tucker for that reason. MSNBC is part of a large corporation whose objective is to make money, which apparently Tucker doesn’t seem to bring in. Ratings mean everything.
Interesting that Tucker’s fans are playing the fairness card. Why is it that the wingnuts mightily condemn the Fairness Doctrine when it’s about providing some balance to their own bloviators, but when one of their own is on the chopping block, it’s all the fault of the “liberal media” — which, apparently, carries all the broadcast power in our society.
Hypocrites.

The people, through ratings, have shown that Tucker is not successful and should be let go. And yet, conservatives rail and protest.
The people, through polls, have shown they don’t like the direction that this country is taking. And yet, conservatives rail and protest.
I guess democracy for conservatives only exists when you agree with them.

November 26th, 2007 at 11:05 amDumb Question: don’t the networks care about ratings ? My point being that Tucker, Limbaugh, et al represent the 25% of the population who still believe that Shrub is doing a good job.
Wouldn’t chasing the 75 % rather than the 25 % be a good business decision ? And if looking for a balance similar to the population, wouldn’t that be 3 people for the 75% for every one person for the 25% ?
November 26th, 2007 at 11:08 am54-
Sure the 75% would be a better goal, but 72% of the stuff on TV news is just info-tainment, 65% of all people know that. ;)
November 26th, 2007 at 11:14 amMapleStreet, good questions.
That elusive ‘liberal bias’ we hear so much about doesn’t hold water.
A handful of conservatives, not all Americans, own all US media. They will bend, shape, rearrange, or change ‘the message’ to protect us vulnerable naive citizens from ourselves.
75% is a pretty solid majority, yet you’d think Fox was the only ‘news’ out there.
November 26th, 2007 at 11:16 amWouldn’t chasing the 75 % rather than the 25 % be a good business decision ?
Comment by MapleStreet — November 26, 2007 @ 11:08 am
You would think so. Unfortunately, that 75% mostly prefers to think for themselves instead of having a talking head tell them what to think. So they’re a little harder to reach.
November 26th, 2007 at 11:17 amAnd also “good ratings” for stuff on cable is much lower than that of the networks.
November 26th, 2007 at 11:18 amI’m surprised MSNBC didn’t re-sign him to a huge contract, just like right-wing idiot Glenn Beck got a new deal despite zero ratings.
I love how MSNBC even tried Tucker in two time slots each day (4PM and 6PM) to see if he could get ratings somewhere, but he failed in both times. The wacko right will still see removing him as a form of “bias”. They consider MSNBC far left because they have one liberal (Olbermann) and one left-leaner (Matthews, although he goes after Dems all the time and has a brother who ran as Lt Gov of Pennsylvania as a Republican) to go with all their other right-wing commentators (Russert, Buchanan, Scarborough, Tucker, Imus, Smerconish, Savage, etc.).

November 26th, 2007 at 12:24 pmIf you’re happy to see Carlson’s show cancelled, don’t tell us, tell MSNBC.
Here’s what I wrote them: “…I’ve read with much interest the recent speculation regarding the (I hope) imminent cancellation of Tucker Carlson’s program on MSNBC. Much of cable news is a wasteland, and Mr. Carlson’s timeslot is, unfortunately, no exception. While I am certain that any replacement will represent a marked improvement, I am writing (for whatever little it may be worth) in the hopes that your network will consider giving David Shuster a chance to take over the vacant airtime that Mr. Carlson’s departure will create. Mr. Shuster is already a contributor to MSNBC, meaning viewers will not be presented with a complete unknown, and his appearances on Countdown and elsewhere have been generally quite good. Be it Mr. Shuster or someone else, I urge MSNBC to select a new anchor/host whose program will not constitute an open insult to the viewers of your network, as Mr. Carlson’s does.”

That’s a fair point, but Tina made her statement in the context of winning an Emmy, thus pointing out the oddity of a highly-acclaimed production (perhaps unfairly) languishing in the ratings.
Tucker, on the other hand, was just pointing out that his show is a failure.
November 26th, 2007 at 12:30 pmWhy would the right care if he is canceled? They obviously don’t watch his show or it wouldn’t be in danger of being canceled.

Neither Clinton nor Kennedy started a war on false pretenses. Neither Clinton nor Kennedy trampled the Constitution. Neither Clinton nor Kennedy attempted to get telecom companies to spy on Americans BEFORE a terrorist attack occurred supposedly justifying such actions. Neither Clinton nor Kennedy attempted to influence elections. Neither Clinton nor Kennedy outed a covert agent to punish a political enemy. Furthermore, Clinton and his staff recognized that Congress was a legitimate branch of the government and they responded to subpoenas.
But all that aside, Clinton isn’t President anymore. Kennedy is still in the Senate — returned there SEVEN TIMES by the voters of Massachusetts since his accident at Chappaquiddick (I think they have forgiven him). Neither one of these men is an issue anymore.
BUSH is the President. And if he is committing crimes in office, we have every reason to be concerned. Pointing fingers at others is just distracting relativism.
If you are going to defend Bush, defend his actions directly.

November 26th, 2007 at 2:44 pmI’m not obsessing Nurse Matt. Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 2:45 pm
Another self loathing, homophobic projecting Republican closet case - oh, the surprise!!! Why don’t you put away that WIDE STANCE, and go get some therapy - poor little ‘tard!
November 26th, 2007 at 2:46 pmTucker is a young republican who somehow got on TV with the big boys and girls. I used to watch crossfire until I realized that their attempt to have a balanced debate was a ruse. Tucker couldn’t hold his own against Carville or Begalla, and CNN knew this. Put in one of the rights really heavy hitters if you want balance on CNBC.
Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 2:37 pm
What’s your point? You ‘tards can NEVER hold you own! That’s why your blogs censor, and why your ’shows’ cut off the mic’s!!!
Tucker got there the same way ALL of you ‘tards do - he knows someone! To be specific, his DADDY (at least one of them) is a GOP insider. You wingnuts NEVER get anywhere on your own talents - if you had any you’d be liberals!
November 26th, 2007 at 2:48 pmNow, now, Dr. Matt; SM is right in that it is a fact that Juanita has made these accusations.
That doesn’t make the “assault” she alleges a FACT, but let’s assume SM isn’t sophisticated enough to tell the difference. (The level of his discourse certainly seems to justify that assumption.)
While most of us would tend to rely on things like criminal convictions to support charges of criminality — like Scooter Libby being a convicted perjurer, for instance — SM is much happier clinging to outdated or discredited smears as his version of “facts”. And why wouldn’t he be? Reality’s liberal bias is well known. It must get exhausting trying to justify your beliefs when the objective universe keeps undermining them. After a while, what choice do you have but to lower the bar on what is a “fact”?
November 26th, 2007 at 2:50 pmResort to name calling when you lose an argument much nurse matt?
Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 2:49 pm
Another irony-deficient right-winger. Beautiful.
November 26th, 2007 at 2:53 pmThe only irony in this room is that all the women have left. Irony is that two women who were injurred by two very powerful men, are still respected. Not beautiful.
Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 2:59 pm
Were you even attempting to make sense with this?
(By the way, the irony to which I was referring was your claim that another poster resorted to name calling when losing an argument in the same sentence in which you name-called. Rich. Very rich.)
November 26th, 2007 at 3:07 pmWere you even attempting to make sense with this?
Comment by ralph the wonder llama — November 26, 2007 @ 3:07 pm
Slothern Idiot-Man doesn’t need to make sense, he just posts the inane to try to derail the threads.
None of his posts make sense and only flaunt his achievements in the highest levels of stupidity.
November 26th, 2007 at 3:28 pmUnderstood, Wayne, but most of SM’s posts at last look like he tried to make sense wth them. That last one just looked like his robo-troll random sentence generator took over.
November 26th, 2007 at 3:31 pmTHIS SHOULD PISS OFF SOME FOLKS HERE USA USA USA USA USA USA USA, some of u guys are scary as hell, the first post on here calls for public executions of right wingers, no one has rebuked those comments, you guys are jim jones types, if tucker goes so be it, but david shuster has this quivering lip thing going on that makes him unwatchable to me, i dont think he can stand the heat, not thattucker is that good but geez you guys, all tucker would have to do is come up with some scandal involving the republicans or the military or anything involving bush, and u guys would be fawning over him……..u guys are too easy to please…an example is kieth olbermann….once he steps out of line u’ll go after him too………you guys are crazy……USA USA
November 26th, 2007 at 3:45 pmdropping any pretense of objectivity or balance.
so conservatives finally admit that this is the FOX hallmark…sing hallelujah, the truth shall set you free.
November 26th, 2007 at 3:52 pm.
Well, crap now, southern eejit.
I can say anything I want on the Internets - say, how about this one:
George Bush raped me!!!!
See? I can say that a million times on the internets, but that certainly doesn’t make it true.
“Some people say” doesn’t qualify as investigative reporting, son.
November 26th, 2007 at 4:00 pmWhy do you always resort to reffering to people who disagree with you “homophobic, closet cases I think the real problem of homophobics is within you. You should stay away from gay people. You might further understand yourself and where the hate comes from rhf.
Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 2:55 pm
Why do you always make obvious “gay-slur” posts, and act surprised when people recognize you for the closet case you are! If you want me to stay away from gay people, then perhaps you should stop posting here? If you go to a therapist, you might further understand yourself and where the self loathing and hate comes from southern woman!
November 26th, 2007 at 4:00 pmThe only irony in this room is that all the women have left. Irony is that two women who were injurred by two very powerful men, are still respected. Not beautiful.
Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 2:59 pm
But the women haven’t all left - you’re still here!
November 26th, 2007 at 4:00 pmHey dumbass, yeah that’s you Southern Man. Neither of your links for Juanita NBC interview work. Not the video and not the transcript. All you have is the lame ass letter she wrote to Hillary 20 some years after the fact. And as a woman it looks to me like she slept with Hillary’s husband and didn’t like getting busted for it. But then again there are no links to the “real” interview.
November 26th, 2007 at 5:03 pmc’mon people!! - he’s not that bad - ok,he may be a geek and a bit retarded but he’s no where near as bad as hannity, gibson, coulter and the likes
November 26th, 2007 at 5:28 pmT uck
November 26th, 2007 at 10:12 pm* ucker, uh, you know what I mean. he’s a punk.
Poor Tucker, couldn’t cut it in the big leagues. I guess it’s back to a safe place for Tuck on some bogus right wing spin cast. Do you think people are starting to catch on, that the right wing “shock” factor is tiresome? Hey Tuck, i’m one of those “retarded cousins” (Canadian) you once referred to on one of your blast offs. Tucker was funny though. At least he had the balls to “expand” his resume by challenging the other side. Unlike Coulter and O’Reily who, even though their ratings are in the tank, can’t seem to gather enough intellegence to break away from the “shock factor.” I stand corrected, I think Coulter has balls…..real ones. No brains though.
November 26th, 2007 at 11:30 pmDear MSNBC,
Tucker Carlson is a self-absorbed, ego-maniac, and thus very much a bore to watch.
Put David Shuster in his spot, David is gripping and engaging, because he actually cares about facts- can you imagine?
Joey,
November 27th, 2007 at 2:27 amLA area
and the other is a murderer. Now that’s fact!
Comment by Southern Man — November 26, 2007 @ 1:42 pm
And how many people’s deaths has your dear George W. Bush caused, Southern Fool? Not just those innocent Iraqi civilians that I’m sure you don’t give a flying F about, but thousands of this nation’s troops. The blood of all of them on George W. Bush’s hands and yours. Proud of yourself? Explain why.
November 27th, 2007 at 3:45 pmFace it, libs: The mainstream is watching real news, and wants a balanced viewpoint, thus, Fox News.
I used to watch a lot of CNN…decades ago when there was no choice. I still watch sometimes for an hour a day…when Glenn Beck is on.
Comment by O. Bigfoot — November 27, 2007 @ 12:55 am
Right. The song and dance is over BigA$$. Your game of coming here to make “outrageous” comments to get a rise out of people is, like you, boring. Go now to your KKK meeting, where you belong.
November 27th, 2007 at 3:50 pmWake up, man. Where ya’ been? Dennis Miller is syndicated nationwide. (They can do that now…for about the last 60 years.)
Comment by O. Bigfoot — November 27, 2007 @ 1:02 am
Even Dennis Miller knows his career is over. Let’s see, he went from network television to a lousy radio show. Yup, he’s really movin’ on up! Get real. I actually feel sorry for Dennis Miller. He showed promise once upon a time, but now he’s just a pathetic fool. Like you. Sad.
November 27th, 2007 at 3:52 pmAs for Tucker Carlson, isn’t he from a well-monied family? We’re not going to boo-hoo for him. No doubt he’s set for life financially. He can now express his hate and intolerance and stupidty during family dinners, where it belongs. He never deserved a public platform to begin with.
