Hubbard flip-flopped on staying at the White House.

Earlier today, Al Hubbard, chairman of President Bush’s National Economic Council, announced that he was resigning from the White House after serving three years. But in an interview on the Fox Business Channel two weeks ago, Hubbard gave no indication of his desire to leave. In fact, he said that he was “very happy where I am“:

Just two weeks ago, Hubbard appeared with Glick on FBN. She asked him if he would remain in his position for the rest of President Bush’s time in office. Glick asked if he would consider taking a job in the private sector, such as CEO positions at Citigroup or Merrill Lynch. Hubbard responded, “That’s nice of you to even suggest I would be considered…I’m very happy where I am.”

Just more lies. Lies. Lies. Lies.

Didn’t Chief of Staff Josh Bolton reputedly say that people could resign by December 2006 or stay for the long haul? Wasn’t that the stated reason that Rove resigned?

    So, then, what of Hubbard?

So, then, what of Frances Frago Townsend?

I don’t think the rats announced their intentions until they were already swimming away from the sinking ship….

  3. Jason says:

I’m not sure why this is considered a flip-flop. Lots of things can happen in two weeks, like maybe he did get offered a new position. TP needs to focus more on real issues.

I concur. But I don’t think that’s the real story here, despite TP’s headline. I think that it’s just another rat leaping off the sinking ship — and with this many rats leaving, one should be asking “why?”.

He realized his mother’s cupboard was bare so he left to earn some sweet corporate milk and honey. Look…it’s an honorable thing he’s doing–he’s trying to keep the dog from starving, ferchrissakes.

Is he or his spouse being investigated?

  7. Minotaur says:

Holy Cow…fer real? He said he wasn’t leaving and now he is, man alive, that IS big!

  8. n1K says:

He is also leaving during a very bad situation in our economy, without the President team offering much advice in terms of the sub prime mortgage mess that has evaporated credit, and sunk the US dollar and all US denominated assets. With many economists predicting a severe recession in the US, taking care of the economy, or the consequences of the housing bubble is a little too much for Mr. Hubbard.

    Better to bail.

  9. Lefty Patriot says:

did he get caught with a live boy or dead girl? America wants to know.

Its a change of mind though its obvious you think there is something more, then again libruls see conspiracy in everything.

Now for a more serious flip flop, have you heard what Billy Clinton had to say about the Iraq war?

Translation: The Bush admininstration knows exactly where the economy is heading, so they decided to fire the partisan Bush crony hack (former Dubya college classmate and Dan Quayle’s deputy chief of staff) Hubbard. My guess is they’ll hire a CEO or former CEO from the financial/banking industry in order to lessen the impact of the coming recession on the major banks.
