Rove refuses to answer McClellan’s claims on Plame.

Following a speech in South Texas yesterday, Karl Rove responded to former White House press secretary Scott McClellan’s claim that Rove, along with “Libby, the vice President, the President’s chief of staff, and the president himself” were responsible for McClellan “unknowingly” passing “along false information” about the outing of Valerie Plame. Rove dodged the question, stating that McClellan said it “had all gotten carried out of proportion“:

Away from the podium today, Rove took time to respond to a new book by former White House spokesman Scott McClellan. In it, McClellan reportedly says Rove gave him false information to pass along to the news media. “He sent me a couple of emails saying that this had all gotten carried out of proportion and that he was surprised they’d done it and said he’d give me a fair explanation in the thing and he’s a friend and he’s a good guy and we’ll see what the book actually says.”

Though Rove had been a confirming source for Robert Novak’s column that blew Valerie Plame’s undercover CIA status, McClellan had told the press in 2003 that Rove and “Scooter” Libby were “not involved.” Libby was later convicted for lying about his involvement.

UPDATE: Today at a speech in Dallas, Rove was asked, “Who is Valerie Plame?” Rove responded, “Somebody whose name I wished I’d never knew.”

we’ll see what the book actually says

I'm sure Scotty was given a large number of good reasons to go through another round of "edits".

  2. Veritas Says:

Isn't it time to bring Karl Rove in for suspicion of treason in the intentional outing of a covert CIA agent? Or maybe we're waiting for a Dem President so the deck won't be so totally stacked? Or....the possibility of being "immediately pardoned" will no longer exist. I say to let Rove sweat it out. Let KKKarl be subpoenaed and indicted AFTER his partner in crime leaves the white house and there's no chance for a pardon. He'd better like prison vittles.

  3. Lt. Progressive Says:

Is Rove the Lee Atwater of the 21st Century, or did we have it good with Lee?

  4. Veritas Says:

Scotty's book and testimony is just part of an ongoing investigation into Karl Rove. Once those missing RNC emails are brought to Congress, Karl Rove won't be sitting too pretty.

  5. Veritas Says:

Geesh! I don't think there's been one day in the past three years where there haven't been multiple crimes committed by this white house and it's corrupt personnel in every department. How can any Republican save face these days? How can any Republican go out in public these days and not be totally ashamed of themselves, their party, and their administration. It's one continued litany of fraud & corruption, day after day.

  6. missmolly Says:

Geez -- can we get any of these guys under oath? Otherwise, this is like nailing jello to a tree.

  7. Veritas Says:

So, as I read this to mean that Scottie was given information by Bush that Rove and Libby were "not involved". That may very well be true. If it is, we've got an even bigger fish to fry right now and he sits in the Oval Office. Either way, someone's going to pay for this act of treason now or later when the Dems control things.

  8. Veritas Says:

Missmolly: A big "cyber-Geez(sh)" to you. Our choice of an expletive was pretty close.

  9. Veritas Says:

It sounds like a case of "damned if you do/ damned if you don't" for Karlie right now. If admits that he wasn't involved when Bush will kick him to the curb for being involved, then it's perjury if under oath. If he admits that he was involved and Bush should have known it and, thus, channelled false information to Scottie, then it's Bush whose butt is on the grill. This is getting complex.

The full truth will come out. It may not until after this administration is a thing of the past, but it will come.

So, now we're in the non-denial denial phase... soon we'll be in the "I can't comment under advice of my attorney" phase....

    I'm trying to figure out if that's a snark or a compliment - ;-)

I think it's the "in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king" situation. We all seem to be a lot smarter than the IIC -- just by comparison.

  14. Veritas Says:

Lt Prog: The truth has a nasty habit of outing itself eventually. There are so many people with a vested interest in keeping a lid on things when corruptions reaches these heights that it probably won't fully be known into the next administration....if then.

As I see it, the only thing about any incident which truly exists is the "truth" of what actually occurred. The truth about everything since GWB stole the election in 2000 has been repressed and spun so much that it all hides beneath layers of lies and fictionalized versions of what occurred.

It's safe to say that this country has been mired in fiction for Bush's entire presidency and it's damn time for us to get ourselves and our country back on the track.

LOL -- my first choice in response to this situation was something I figured TP would ban my post for. So I went with the second choice.

I like how Leahy said that the preznit wasnt involved in the USA scandal, nullifying executive privelege...you know if they want ep old bush will have to admit he was involved - damn thats sweet - sorry back to topic...

Karl is a rat looking for flotsam...

Will we recognize it when it does? As Veritas said, the "truth" has been spun and twisted so much, we might not.

That's a good question that will have to wait to be answered on Rove's death bed. Atwater apologized to Dukakis when he found out he had termainal cancer.

  20. VerbalKint Says:

Rove is a traitor and a psychopath. I'm surprised that Manslagt isn't on this thread doing some of his dirty work for Karl.

Nice follow up. Indeed, we'll have to wait and see..

  24. CitiDC Says:

Rove's influence lingers - his old firm is now raking in the dough according to this story by Rove expert Wayne Slater.

Note in the article that Rove sold his business for an "undisclosed amount of money" on what sounds like a lay-a-way plan. I hardly believe that - it's more likely he was taking illegal kickbacks while he was a government officer at the White House.

Give this a read to speculate on Karl Rove's Unexplained Personal Wealth.

Not surprised by Tubby McTreason Rove dodging Scotty's claim on Ms. Wilson in his book. Tubby is in hot water with other crimes that has his fingerprints such as Siegleman case, USA firings, voter rigging, and so on.

While I would prefer trials; I will continue to enjoy the Reps turning on neocons (I consider the second a sub-group of the first) as the neocons turn on each other. I have a feeling it will turn into a bunch of scared rats eating their young. Heck, they may destroy themselves without outside help.

  28. Long Tooth Says:

"Is Rove the Lee Atwater of the 21st Century, or did we have it good with Lee"?

    Great question. Flash forward..

"Is Fred Smith the Karl Rove of the 2020's, or did we have it good with Karl"?

Permit little Joey the final word.

    Reichspropagandaleiter Dr. Goebbels:

"Propaganda has no principles of its own. It has only one goal, and in politics that goal is always to conquer the masses. Any means to that end is good. and any means that does not serve that end is bad."

  29. ForTruth Says:

Kilo thats lame. Just try to say "oh who knows anyway'?

  30. Lefty Patriot Says:

Perhaps you failed to notice that the "investigation" was conducted by Rove's side. Treason is a benchmark of the Bush administration, and supporting Bush's mouthpiece is supporting treason. that's what you do.

Yeah...I'll bet he really wishes he never heard of her name, cuase when the Civil trial comes around....that rat bastard is going to get some more heat.I don't think he can get shrub to get him out of going to this one.I hope the Wilsons wait till the preznit is out of office....hehehehe...there is no statue of limitations on TREASON.and those rat bastards commited just that...TREASON!

  33. mudsharks buddy Says:

hey Kilo...who appointed Fitz ?you know...as special prosecuter.

  34. mudsharks buddy Says:

earth to kilo, earth to kilo...are you receiving us?....

  35. republicans hate facts Says:

It’s indeed very lame. To call for then celebrate the fact that there was an investigation being undertaken for years on end (have we all forgotted “Fitzmas” ?) only to pretend you are ignorant of its findings once it was concluded.
    Comment by Kilo — November 29, 2007 @ 8:21 pm

You mean the conclusion that Plame was a covert agent, and that the traitors couldn't be charged because of obstruction of justice? Impeachment is only the beginning of the punishment you TRAITORS deserve!

  36. mudsharks buddy Says:

ah yes...the "conclusion"...and how did that work out for ya?Libby was convicted for lying to a grand jury, and obstuction of justice....hmmmm?why would he do that?Hmmmm?....which begs the question.....who was he protecting...know full well the Preznit was going to pardon him....and I know what your going to say...he wasn't pardoned......not yet he hasn't...but you know the Preznit will.

  37. Lefty Patriot Says:

He already went before the investigation. That investigation concluded without a finding for treason and the Wilson’s have withdrawn their civil lawsuit.
It’s over kid. Just accept it.

    Comment by Kilo — November 29, 2007 @ 9:58 pm

It's by no means over, in fact, it's just beginning. You obviously have no idea what a shitstorm is coming your way. 70% of the American people are fed up with your lies and antiAmerican behavior and the support of same by rightard monkeys like you. I know you're a foreigner, and have no allegiance to the USA, so it's easy to understand your inability to cope with the American way, but the traitors that have broken this country will be dealt with.

  38. 29percentofusarestupid Says:

People, people... why... why are you debating with a person who denies that the sky is blue and grass is green??? whatEVER you say... kilo will say the opposite. he will refuse to acknowledge any fact that does not support his argument. you cannot reason with the unreasonable. let him be in the 29% that he is so proud to be in. it is his right to do so.

  39. sacopenapa Says:

Is Rove out???? Oh yeh... they never arrested him fot treason! Nobody get arrested for outing a CIA agent anymore. Not in the FSA, the Facists State of America (former USA).

  40. mudsharks buddy Says:

Kilo: the Wilsons have not withdrawn their civil suit..you wish they had. This ain't over by a long shot. But I'd like to revisit Libby and his conviction on several counts of lying to the grand jury and obstruction of justice.Got any explanation for why he would do this.Kilo? And why would the Preznit commute his sentence....when a grand jury found him guilty?...No Kilo...it is you who have to accept the facts here...you should stop letting politics get in the way of your sense of honesty.

  41. mudsharks buddy Says:

you can't explain the reason Libby lied......it's not that you won't...it's because you don't want to admit that he lied under oath.So that means..he was and still is protecting someone(s)...not everyone is as stupid as you are. You're just redirecting the facts here..and the FACT is LIBBY LIED UNDER OATH...And was CONVICTED Of OBSTRUCTION of JUSTICE,And LYING to The GRAND JURY...on several counts...THOSE ARE FACTS ,HE BROKE THE LAW....and what does your boy do?Commutes his sentence.....no Kilo..this stinks and you know it.I still say he's protecting someone ...and who could that be?...Hey whats the koolaid flavor today?

  42. mudsharks buddy Says:

oh and don't worry about me coming back when this goes to trial....YA'LL Come Back now.....Ya Here!

  43. mudsharks buddy Says:

ok kilo....just answer this.....Why Would Libby LIE?

  44. mudsharks buddy Says:

dodging the question?I didn't ask you what questions he lied too.The Fact Remains....He LIED (under oath no less).no...I'm not going any further with you on this....you're being willfully ignorant...................eh!

  45. mudsharks buddy Says:

you didn't read anything about the trial? Where did you get your info?...Fixed Noozz......now who's speculating?

  46. mudsharks buddy Says:

hey....dimwit.....besure to LISTEN to the recordings on the first link I posted.....I gave you that because I know you don't like to read.....oh and keep trying.....your level of stupidity is entertaining....for now anyway.

  47. mudsharks buddy Says:
