Four gay men describe encounters with Sen. Craig.

The Idaho Statesman reports that “four gay men, willing to put their names in print and whose allegations can’t be disproved, have come forward since news of U.S. Sen. Larry Craig’s guilty plea. They say they had sex with Craig or that he made a sexual advance or that he paid them unusual attention.” The Statesman has audio clips of the men’s accounts. A fifth unidentified man described a separate encounter at the Denver International Airport in September 2006. (HT: Atrios)

UPDATE: On Aug. 28, the Statesman reported the accounts of three other anonymous males who claimed to have encounters with Craig.

But the same gay hooker who serviced Rev. Ted? The irony is astounding.

I'm now wondering if Sen. Craig shouldn't be tested for meth use. At least if he tested negative it would give him a chance to distance himself from the Haggard scandal, which now overlaps his.

Once you again you are making the automatic assumption that this is the result of what Democrats are doing. It is not. It is the report of a newspaper, not the DNC.

Tell us, why do you assume that any time a Republican is being criticized for being a hypocritical liar, that it is the work of Democrats, and not ordinary, apolitical Americans?

BTW, whether or not you realize it, you have just publicly called Sen Larry Craig's integrity into question. Are you a Democrat?

  16. GSD Says:

Why are all Republicans publicly opposed to gay sex but are all privately pickle poachers?

That's funny, USAP, because the Dems I know are true patriots who are trying to preserve our Constitutional rights and freedoms, and renew this country's reputation in the world.

All of the Republicans I know say one thing and do another. All of them.

Did the definition of "integrity" change and no one told me?

What does it say about the emotional brittleness of the typical conservative female, that not one of these closeted scandals was brought forth by a mate? Their husbands must have so instilled a sense of utter failure and ruin within their psyches that these women cannot admit the truth, under any circumstances. The Big Daddy mentality writ large, or something more like Stockholm Syndrome?

  23. barfly Says:

And it would be strange and more than a little hypocritical if the same conservatives who railed against Clinton's proclivities (and Hillary's seeming indifference to them, for her own political reasons) don't say boo about Mrs. O'Closetedgayrepublican.

  24. Saint Augustine Says:

Remember that Larry Craig married a woman with children by another man after he claimed he wasn''t gay years ago. I imagine everytime he does her in the ass he fantasizes about some guy he did on the home from DC.

Sadly, Craig's homosexual behavior with his voting record are both examples of phucking your fellow man!

  25. Anne Says:

Funny the only people I hear the repubs complaining about are Jefferson and the Rep. from WV. ...or and I forgot...Bill Clinton is STILL responsible for every problem in the world. Why don't you go over to LGF, Redstate or Freepers where they would buy into your lies.

And Larry Craig really is gay, BTW. Just because he publicly denies it does not prove that he does not privately practice it.

  35. Michael Lafferty Says:

This outcome was perfectly predictable. Is there any rational person who understands human behavior, naive enough to believe that the incident in the Minneapolis restroom as anything other than an attempt by Senator Craig to 'hook up' with a potential partner? Or, that this was the first and only time he had done so, or would do so in the future? Closeted, repressed individuals are driven to repeat such conduct, and take greater risks as time goes on as they seek to satisfy their hunger.

The problem here is not the conduct, per se—though the conduct in a public place where a reasonable expectation of privacy exists is, in fact, a violation of law—rather, it is the combination of a long term condemnation of ANY such contact promulgated to a degree approaching bigotry, the hypocrisy which therefore necessarily exists when a conflicted individual like Senator Craig simultaneously engages in—while condemning—the behavior, and the awkward denial which accompanies being 'caught.'

Get it, morally outraged, indignant, Clinton-blaming characters?

Seriously, the number of significant Republican operatives 'flaming out' as it were, instead of coming out, is astounding. And, the flimsy excuses: wide stance, in fear of my life and so on - simply unbelievable. Until this inconsistent, hypocritical behavior stops, Republicans can expect those they have labeled their 'political enemies' to continue to draw attention to these incidents, despite that fact that many, if not most, of those on the opposite end of the political spectrum believe that such behavior—between consenting adults, in private—should not be an issue.

Had Senator Craig not made his hateful, long-term condemnation of homosexuality a cornerstone of his political agenda, few would be paying any attention to this. Although I wish he had made other choices all along, I see this as a fitting end to political career which has brought continuing human and environmental costs to the Pacific Northwest, while lining the pockets of his corporate farming, mining and ranching partners.

At least I agree with this widely held Republican point of view regarding Senator Craig: his career cannot come to an end too soon!

Huh? Um, public conduct is not private conduct. See Minneapolis, et al.

"It is not hypocrisy to be tempted by some behavior but still think that behavior is wrong."

Your neurons must not be firing properly. It is hypocrisy, silly, to consistently and publicly condemn such behavior, while simultaneously engaging in it. Senator Craig has a long history of condemning such behavior, while wrestling not with temptation alone, but actually engaging in the behavior he condemns. See any dictionary not authored by a Republican operative.

Maybe Happy Bunny said it best when he uttered, "Whatever, Moron."

I didn't think I would be back to post again, but this just has to be shared: the real BOMBSHELL in the Idaho Statesman series is the allegation that then first-term Representative Craig was named as one of seven Congressmen who engaged in sexual contact with Congressional pages in the '1982 Congressional page scandal.'

Sexual contact with a CHILD? In the effective care of Congress? Oh, Senator: that's a HUGE problem for you and your Republican colleagues who managed to cover this up for so long.

Can I just repeat that? With a CHILD? Who had been entrusted to your care, and that of other Congressional representatives?

The identification by the page has been confirmed by the attorney and former Arkansas GOP official who represented this young man at the time, and subsequent to the contact which was alleged to have occurred.

Read the series. It will, of course, be denied. But the accounts are believable, and appear irrefutable. And, the series is devastating. It's likely time to put the Senator on suicide watch…

Sorry. Maybe you ought to read the series before publicly staking out a position. Facts can surely be inconvenient. Better luck next time…

Looks like Craig doing kids finally shut up USAP, now he's jealous.

Why would any sane person own up to boning larry craig? EWWWWGGGHHH!

  97. CVille Dem Says:

May I humbly suggest that the idiot troll who calls himself USA_Patriot is getting his jollies by the responses to his misinformed and dishonest posts?

If you want to give him what he deserves, totally ignore him. He has gotten far more real estate at this thread than his ignorant rants deserve.

Ignore him. He will go away. Everyone with any sense knows he is full of it; you don't have to say it. NOT RESPONDING speaks volumes. Do you argue with a lunatic shouting on a street corner? Treat the trolls the same way. They dry up pretty quickly when they can't bait in a thread.

George's eyes cross, and his tongue hangs out. Like the GOP, it is powerless after midnight - a special switch-cut-out plays a couple bars of
America the Beautiful and then shorts the battery out.

Clearly, Li'l Pattie feels compelled to take a wide stance on such important issues, ML.

But a brisk round of Whack-A-Troll can be so entertaining.

    .

    Larry Craig IS NOT GAY!
    HAS NEVER BEEN GAY!

    EVER!

He just pleads guilty to soliciting anonymous sex from "other" men.

Now, this makes Larry a liar or a woman... NO?

    .

S 1959 is ambiguously written, and I am on one of the “conspiracy theory” websites that they mentioned in the House subcommittee meeting.

So with all of that, I have to ask myself, “am I a terrorist”?

  103. Lefty Patriot Says:

    Let’s see some evidence.

    Comment by DreamCrusher — December 2, 2007 @ 6:55 pm

Oh, you'll see plenty of evidence. There isn't a republican politician in office today that hasn't committed numerous crimes and lewd acts.

    "Let’s see some evidence."

    Comment by DreamCrusher

A little late to be demanding evidence, isn't it, Mobileweaponslabsboy? About 2 trillion bucks too late.

It seems a little petty to be asking for proof now, after you "swallowed" Bush's lies, don't you think?

  105. DRxJ Says:

Just for the record, as I have "dealt" with many a doctor shopper:
attaining above your prescribed allotment of controlled substance is illegal. Whether it is through forging a prescription, or having someone purchasing it, and then "giving it away". It is illegal. Nuff said.
But thank you for derailing this particular thread, USA Patriot (or Mr. P, or whatever you're posting as today).
    Back on topic.
Senator Craig is not gay? Yet three men can testify that they were either engaged in sexual activity, or were proposed to be engaged.
Damn liberal media with their facts, anyways!
But hey, when in doubt, bring up Bill Clinton, 7 years removed from office.

  106. Lefty Patriot Says:

Quit being partisan hacks and demand evidence.

    Comment by DreamCrusher — December 2, 2007 @ 11:02 pm

how about a guilty plea from the guilty party? that's pretty good evidence.

talk about partisan hacks, you're the expert. Craig pled guilty. The case is closed, he has only managed to get himself into deeper trouble by lying, the usual republican gambit. always the losers.

  107. ozma10 Says:

I think when the trolls are out and about they are best ignored. It is their true function to suck life from otherwise energizing discourse and keep it circling downward. This keeps everyone else from really getting to the point of being able to build on a conversation and bring ideas into light. It's possible they are even being paid to do this. Cut them loose!

    Acquire one, d*ckhead.

  109. Tender Chicken Says:

And those are just the ones who are willing to come forward. Imagine how many more there are. Imagine how many of them are hypocrites, just like Craig, who live a life in public as straight, but in secret are gay. Imagine how many of them are politicians just like Craig.

#148 - "There’s a world outside the confines of Think Progress. Free your mind." Comment by DreamCrusher — December 3, 2007 @ 7:07 am

Sort of like there's a world outside the confines of Redstate, or Freep, or Limbaugh.com? That's where the true lemming reside, afraid to confront the truth head on. They need their opinions dictated to them so they can say "ditto" and not engage their brain.
