In an interview with the Deseret Morning News, right-wing pundit Glenn Beck described a recent meeting with President Bush which left him “stunned and awestruck by Bush’s command of the situation”:
“The thing is,” Beck says, “he’s not the guy you see on TV. I talked to (CNN’s) Wolf Blitzer, and he said the exact same thing. It’s amazing.”
“He is clear and focused, and there are no hems and haws. I would not want to sit across the table from him as an enemy. He said a few things that were breathtaking, and my immediate response was, ‘Why are you not saying this?’ and he explained. I can’t quote him. All I can say is that he has Abraham Lincoln-honorable reasons … he has chosen not to say certain things. But (the Iraq war) is going much better than people think.”
In contrast to Beck’s belief that Bush is in total control behind the scenes, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) said that a recent meeting with the President left him “very underwhelmed.”

It would not take much to impress Beck.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:32 pmOf course he was impressed.
They were discussing mountain bikes, or dressing little puppies up, or brush clearing, or burying government records.
All things Bush is expert in.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:34 pmAnd you have Bush-like dishonesty, Mr. Beck.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:34 pmDamn if this isn’t going to yield some hilarity on a snowy day. While I run out for a six pack can the rest of you get the ball rolling. Abraham Lincoln indeed!

December 3rd, 2007 at 2:35 pmMore like McCarthyistic.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:37 pmI suspect that Bush has the same response to Beck.
“I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straight forward and trustworthy and we had a very good dialogue.
“I was able to get a sense of his soul. ”
Oh, wait. That was Putin.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:37 pmNo really, he’s totally honest and a mental powerhouse, but I can’t give you any examples because….ummm…..he’s modest.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:37 pmBeck has his nose so far up Bush’s ass that he HAS to be Pinocchio.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:38 pmBeck sez: “All I can say is that he has Abraham Lincoln-honorable reasons … he has chosen not to say certain things.”
So, Bush can say “these things” to Beck but not to the American people? Or is it that Bush does not say certain things because he can’t pronounce them? Or is it that “all I can say” from Beck is that there isn’t really anything real to praise Bush for?
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:38 pmBlech meant Jack Abramoff Lincoln, I guess.

Exactly right.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:43 pmWell, at least we should all be reassured that bush is not the dumbest person in the USA.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:43 pmBeck: He said a few things that were breathtaking, and my immediate response was, ‘Why are you not saying this?’ and he explained. I can’t quote him.”
Bush is using that little known stealth honesty of his. Bush cracks me up. Of all the stupid $hit he says, the “breathtaking” quotes are top secret.
Apparently Bush’s brillance is too much for us Americans to be able to handle!
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:43 pmBreathtaking???
Are you sure that wasn’t something else keeping you from drawing a deep breath Beck?
Gotta love that, “I would like to tell you what he said, but I can’t. Trust me, Boy George is frigging brilliant!
Yeah, right.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:44 pmThe only way beck stays relevant is when he is kneeling at the alter of bush. Beck is the last, great cheerleader bush has - and his ratings prove it.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:44 pmThis freak must be on the Bush payroll! What a joke.
Notice how after each right wing cheerleader leaves Bush they all say the exact thing that counters the truth…
He’s has such deep compassion.. yeah right, like during Katrina…
he is so well read… yeah OK… read those Shakespeares - yeah sure
Now it is “he is known fro his truthfulness like lincoln”..
All the Presidents liars… what a freak show, it might be entertainment if it weren’t so deadly cruel….
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:45 pm#11…that’s the gist of it. Has Bush told Beck things he ‘can’t tell the American people’? And Beck understood his reasons and is now keeping them secret too? But none of the rest of us are worthy enough to judge the honorability of the President’s decisions ourselves?
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:45 pmWhat are some of the particulars, Beck? We want to know. Or are you just taking the President’s word that his reasons are honorable? Hey Glenn, did it ever occur to you that Bush is lying to you as well, that his ‘honor’ is just more deceit?
So, Bush can say “these things†to Beck but not to the American people? Or is it that Bush does not say certain things because he can’t pronounce them? Or is it that “all I can say†from Beck is that there isn’t really anything real to praise Bush for?
Comment by PatrioticLiberalChristian — December 3, 2007 @ 2:38 pm
And there it is. Is the President of the United States revealing information to some television hack that he refuses to share with the American public?
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:45 pmI love how all these accounts of how great he is are always from people who had some exclusive behind-closed-doors meeting with him but they can’t tell you what exactly they talked about. Maybe it was about clearing dry brush.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:46 pmWell there went my last ounce of respect for Wolf (”I am Israeli) Blitzer.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:48 pmMaybe beck bought a ticket for the rapture from bush.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:49 pmLike the old SNL skit when Reagan had the bumbling old man persona for the public, then behind the scenes, he was quick-witted and aggressive.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:49 pmThe amount of days Bush has left in office, and the amount of days Beck has left in his “career.”
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:51 pmWhat I find extremely telling is that, according to Beck, Bush said some mighty smart things, but Beck can’t quote ANY of those things.
For all our joking around about neocons “drinking the Kool-Aid” this might be THE prime example. The idea that Bush posited theories to Beck that were so mind-blowing, Beck can’t remember what they are, would leave me to believe Beck was all Adams’-Apple deep in his deep throbbing man-crush on the Demander-In-Chief. To paraphrase the sage Debbie Gibson, he gets lost…in his eyes… and then everything becomes an exciting romantic montage where only visuals are recalled…Bush smiling, Bush talking, Bush laughing, Beck laughing along WITH Bush, a stolen glimpse at a reflective surface so Beck can see himself with Bush and think “I’m with him…I’m with HIM.” it’s all a masturbatory fantasy thinly veiled as conservative talk radio.
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:51 pmHummm… Beck, who has the IQ of a bag of hammers, saying someone with the IQ of a bag of rocks has ANYTHING is suspect….
Come to think of it anything Beck says is suspect anyway! nevermind…..
What losers…
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:52 pmI used to be against waterboarding…but now I see it has a place. Glenn Beck is saying that our President personally told him some state secrets along with his reasons for keeping them quiet. Strap him down boys, we’ve got 24 hours and the clock is ticking!
December 3rd, 2007 at 2:52 pmSome things Blech & Bush can’t tell us…
-The USA will have to file bankruptcy by 2010
-Cheney planned 9/11
-The 2000 vote was rigged
-Cheney actually does phuck himself
-Global warming is the biggest threat America faces today, other than Republican lawmakers
-We will have no ‘08 elections
-Imhofe & Lott are gay, but support anti-gay legislation
-Bush admires Al Gore

December 3rd, 2007 at 2:58 pmI’m sure that Abraham Lincoln is tired of turning on his grave…

Abe Lincoln would roll over his grave to see this idiot clown President being compared to him. Comparing Bush to Lincoln is like comparing Fox News Network to Edward R. Murrows.

December 3rd, 2007 at 3:05 pmSmall minds think alike..
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:06 pm“Bush has Abraham Lincoln-like honesty.”
This is true inasmuch as the word “honesty” is spelled the same in sentences dealing with the great leader Lincoln and the twisted man-goat Bush, respectively. To wit:
“Abraham Lincoln was notable for his honesty and forthrightness.”
“George W. Bush is notable for the fact that he not only does not know what the word ‘honesty’ means, but is probably unable to spell it.”
See there? Spelled exactly the same way.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:06 pmMore proof Glenn Beck is a moron.

Can anyone imagine Bush saying these types of things:
Allow the president to invade a neighboring nation, whenever he shall deem it necessary to repel an invasion, and you allow him to do so whenever he may choose to say he deems it necessary for such a purpose - and you allow him to make war at pleasure.

December 3rd, 2007 at 3:24 pmIt takes a dry drunk to understand another dry drunk.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:24 pmBeck never has been the sharpest tool in the pack. He believes that there are always simple, sound bite sized answer to any problem. His awe of Bush tends to reinforce that idea.
A few points of obvious bullshit from Mr. Beck
1. Bush has always been noted for his lack of foreign policy experience and knowledge. We have a man who started the Iraq War without even knowing the difference between Sunni and Shiites. We are now to believe that he has an in depth understanding. Give me a break.
2. There are reasons for the war that have never been provided to the public that totally justify this war and that would convince any person of its necessity.
The exact quote:
What is wrong with this statement? Let me count:
a. The information is obviously not secret. He would never have told Glen Beck such highly classified information.
b. The president has apparently never provided such information to the Congress or we would not see dissent arising from Republican members.
c. Glen Beck says that the President has his reasons.. Hard to think of what they could be. The President does have a reputation for being dishonest and advancing the ” Its alright, you don’t need to know” excuse on a liberal and dishonest basis.
3. Abraham Lincoln honorable reasons? Beck cannot (Oh, its so confidential ) say what these are. However, our nation was being torn apart by the Civil War, large parts of the nation were in insurrection and there were all those slaves to be freed. I am sorry, but where are the similar justifications for this war?
4. The eloquent Mr. Bush is dishonest. Note that Glen Beck states:
“
a. Anyone who has studied Lincoln knows that his public and private persona were the same. He had a great sense of humor and an accomplished speaker (horrible speaking voice.
b. Bush has pretended to be the good old country boy as an image. No one else in his family has the same accent. One would think that his prep school background, Yale under graduate and Harvard MBA would have taught him how to speak. Earlier recordings bear this out.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:26 pmBeck has a Bush-like naivety.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:28 pmComparing Bush to Lincoln is like comparing a Dwarf Willow to a California Redwood. Republicans suck at comparisons and they do it constantly. This is how they’re able to compare waterboarding to just cooling off on a hot summers day.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:29 pmThis reminds me of used car lots with names like “Honest Abe’s”. If you have to assure your customers that you are honest then you almost certainly are not.
Similarly, we hear a lot of defensive Bush supporters assuring us how honest and intelligent he is. Just the fact that they feel the need to assure us of these characteristics which should be assumed in a United States President is rather telling.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:39 pmPerhaps Bush doesn’t say these same things to the American public because Bush apparently knows that only Beck is gullible enough to believe his bullshit.
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:41 pmOMG. I just threw up a whole lot in my mouth!!!!!!
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:44 pmI know what Bush said that took Glen’s breath away: “Pull your pants down Glen, I need you.”
December 3rd, 2007 at 3:46 pmBush is the direct opposite of George Washington. Our first President, in his youth said, “father, I cannot tell a lie… I cut down that cherry tree” Bush, other the other hand, cannot stop telling lies every time he opens his mouth…
