The Center for Constitutional Rights recently produced an ad called “Rescue the Constitution” that criticizes the Bush administration for “destroying the Constitution” through the use of tactics like renditions and torture. Fox News is refusing to air the ad, claiming that it needs “documentation” that the constitution “is indeed being destroyed.” Watch the ad:
Fox has previously refused to run an ad that was critical of then-Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito Jr., which was seen as an “effort to shield President Bush’s choice for the high court.”
this is why Dems should shun FOX. All real Americans should shun FOX. leave it to the rightards.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:23 pmYes, that’s how Fox works…need documentation for everything they put on the air…How accurate they are…!!
So all what Hannity, O’Reilly ,Gibson and co. put on the air is very much verified and checked vs truth. !!
This is the laugh of the day…if not the century.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:26 pmSo FoxNews requires extensive documentation that the claims of ALL its commercials are true? So they must vouch for the veracity of all the commercials they air. So we can hold them accountable if the content of any of their commercials is found to be of questionable veracity? Guess they’ll have to ban all political ads, then. Can we revoke their license, please?
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:31 pmFox was designed by Roger Ailes as a GOP propaganda network. EVERYTHING they air has been screened to fit the Republican agenda.
Unfortunately, I doubt any other major network will air the ad either. Their is a complete blackout on the very word, “Impeachment”.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:31 pmNot to mention ads for sodas, junk food, fast food…
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:32 pmSorry, “There …”
UG.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:32 pmDidn’t they run a documentary smearing Kerry during the 04 election?
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:33 pmDidn’t they run a documentary blaming Clinton for 9-11?
Didn’t they pay off Andrea Makris?
Next year is an election year, and Fox (like most network and cable channels) will receive a great many political ads to run.
Are they going to “require documentation” for each one of these political ads? You know, to make sure that everything in every one of the ads is true?
My guess is no.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:38 pmThey take everything so literally. So if the actual parchment paper Constitution stored in a hermetically sealed metal box filled with inert gases in the National Archives isn’t actually being “completely done away with” or “irreparably damaged” physically, they have a point. Then they fall back to “it’s just Danny Glover, who is getting too old for this shit, and his own opinion.”
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:39 pmI find FOX’s position entirely consistent. Why run ads concerning things in which you do not believe?
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:43 pmNext year is an election year, and Fox (like most network and cable channels) will receive a great many political ads to run.
Are they going to “require documentation†for each one of these political ads? You know, to make sure that everything in every one of the ads is true?
My guess is no.

Oh of course they’ll have documentation for the truth of all the ads they run, if anyone asks.. but they won’t be able to just whip them out on a moments notice for just anyone… but you have the Fox Network CEO’s word that they’ve done all the research and the documentation is there…. somewhere… really.. honestly… He read them just the other day…
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:44 pmThe ad would be totally lost on the audience.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:44 pmFOX is State Sponsored TV
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:45 pm“documentation” = the Constitution
Of course no one at Fox has a copy…
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:45 pmFox needs “documentation†that the constitution “is indeed being destroyed.â€
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:49 pm– – Fox won’t be satisfied until Nicolas Cage documents this in yet another chapter of “National Treasure.”
All what the Center for Constitutional Rights needs to do is fix a few things like declaring that DEMOCRATS are trying to deny Bush his “constitutional right” to do anything he desires and torture as many people he wants and Fox will accept that. /sarcasm
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:50 pm“documentation†that the constitution “is indeed being destroyed.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:50 pmAnd they’re also destroying the Bill of Rights, “they” being the corrupt in the administration and the corrupt in the news media who are afraid to report the truth.
Documentation? How about the Congressional Record for the past six years?
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:51 pmCMW REPORT, Spring 2003
Title: “Court Ruled That Media [FOX] Can Legally Lieâ€
FOX could show this AD, they are just being polarizing and divisive, as usual.
December 3rd, 2007 at 4:51 pmDocumentation straight from the horse’s own mouth. And I quote verbatim.
“Stop waving the Constitution at me, it’s just a God Damn piece of paper.”- George W. Bush.
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:00 pmThe media, which is supposed to be the fourth arm of the Constitution, cannot run an ad to preserve the integrity of the Constitution?
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:11 pmSmells Faux like to me.
So if Bush and Cheney were caught on surveillance cams at Constitution Hall torching the document would that be proof? Or, wherever the original copy of the Constitution is being held? What a bunch of morally bankrupt fools.
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:12 pmIf Faux REALLY cared about documented information being put out on their network, they would have fired billo, Hanniteehee, kristol and barnes long ago.
Luckily, they have a disclaimer for everything they broadcast; it is the little blue and white logo in the bottom left corner of their show, that’s all we really need to know.
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:19 pmSave this with everything else for presentation to the FCC in February 2009!

Uhka Ho, it is very clear that BushCo has had that old yellow piece of paper in their sights since before they ever got in the WH.
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:21 pmWow.
Why does FUX hate the Constitution?

Because it gets in the way of their ability to suck money from the repugs.
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:30 pmAnd what would FOX consider “documentation” that the Constitution was being destroyed?
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:34 pmDenying the rights of Americans, denying the writ of habeas corpus, secret prisons for rendition of prisoners, and many other issues which I need not list here – these do not fly in the face of the Constitution?
We have our own version of Pravda here in FOX.
Does it require “documentation” that all claims by advertisers are completely accurate?
Be careful not to offend MiniTrue, else MiniLove will be breathing down your neck…
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:34 pmFox News Network is as much a “state-controlled” media as Pravda ever was. Or Muscharaff’s state-controlled TV station…the only one still delivering “news” in Pakistan. Bet you mucho dinero that Fox receives funding via one of the black op funds that go through the intelligence agencies in this “democracy.”
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:43 pmPfffttt… it was just a quaint and outdated document anyway.
December 3rd, 2007 at 5:50 pmSo, if I create a new diet pill, that doesn’t really make you lose weight, will Fox refuse to air that ad too?
December 3rd, 2007 at 6:10 pmWhat? Fop Snooze won’t run an ad that’s in direct contradiction with the horshyit they put out 24/7?
December 3rd, 2007 at 6:15 pmCmon, this is the expected outcome, surely.
Fox “News” didn’t need any “documentation” from the Swift Boat Liars, though.
December 3rd, 2007 at 6:20 pmFunny, isn’t it?
Someone report them to Conservative Moneygrubbers Guild. They are turning down money! The communists.
December 3rd, 2007 at 6:23 pmWell, it is Faux News and what do expect from a Fascist Propaganda Network….the truth, ha, I think not, the truth has a liberal bias.
Bush/Cheney
Hague Trials ‘09

December 3rd, 2007 at 6:44 pmDoes Fox require their other advertisers to prove their advertising claims? I think not. Fair and Balanced? Hmmph!
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:55 pmI’m wondering, is there any way that their refusing the ads of some but not for others open them up to legal remedies ?
They don’t have to agree with their commercials – look at all the infomercials shown on over-the-air stations and the disclaimer that this is a paid announcement.
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:55 pmO. Bigfoot is the epitome of a typical rightwing troll. I here biggie is taking a vacation to Bali soon.
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:57 pmCorrection, I hear that biggie ….
December 3rd, 2007 at 7:59 pmReal Americans don’t watch Faux News for Nazis. It makes the old Soviet run news agencies look mild in comparison.
December 3rd, 2007 at 8:10 pmReal Americans don’t watch Faux News for Nazis. It makes the old Soviet run news agencies look mild in comparison.
Comment by David B — December 3, 2007 @ 8:10 pm
That’s the truth.
December 3rd, 2007 at 11:13 pmOh I see. So now Fox is going to make all those Republiscum political ads that will be placed soon to prove that what they are saying is actually true. Wow, I’m impressed. NOT!
December 3rd, 2007 at 11:40 pm.
Why does the Fox Propaganda Network hate the Constitution?
.
December 4th, 2007 at 1:03 amDidn’t some right-wing troll whine about Gonzo’s losing his “freedom of speech” at that University? It’s funny I haven’t seen him on this thread complaining about the Center for Constitutional Rights’ having its freedom of speech abridged by FoxNews’s refusal to accept the commercial. (This is a perfectly apt analogy as Gonzo was to have been paid for his speech while the CCR was planning to pay for its speech.)
December 4th, 2007 at 1:35 amCenter for Constitutional Rights CCR-NY.com does wonderful work. They have been trying to get the German Courts and other International Courts to try Rumsfailed for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Give their site some hits and see the wonderful work they are doing for human rights.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:13 amThis coming from the station that sued in the state of FL for the right to be able to lie to its viewers based on 1st amendment rights?
December 4th, 2007 at 8:07 ambigfoot loves FOX because FOX lies to support bigfoot’s cowardice. Bush has played on the weakness of the cowards like bigfot and Jason Hitler since the beginning of his first campaign, and they have unthinkingly goose-stepped right along with the rovian lies and fear-mongering, allowing their morals to disappear in a puff of “shock and awe”, as if blowing children to pieces were a video game. bigfoot is an amoral, antiAmerican imperialist, no more evolved than Attila.
December 4th, 2007 at 8:13 amIn some tribes, one warrior would ride in close to an opposing warrior and take an item from him or just touch him.
Faux is so repellant that, why deal with them.
Just run it on MSNBC and any other station like perhaps a country music station or a hunting and fishing station. I’ll bet the rates are a lot cheaper there.
Perhaps with the byline that FAUX would not portray this ad because they feel they can control the everything around them.
December 4th, 2007 at 10:17 amI challenge any of you to present a right of yours that has been trampled.
December 7th, 2007 at 6:55 pmHow has YOUR life been changed by this administration or the Patriot Act, which you claim is trampling rights and shredding the Constitution.
Instead, you create myths and slurs, and stir up controversy over something that is imagined or made-up, then spread it to each other until eventually you each believe it as truth.
You’re incredible to watch really. A bunch of lemmings, following blindly with your misplaced values and lack of fact.
