Media mogul Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. announced today that it has “acquired Beliefnet, the largest faith and spirituality information site on the Web, for an undisclosed sum.” Murdoch, who also recently bought Dow Jones & Co., will have access to Beliefnet’s roughly “3 million unique visitors each month and a daily email newsletter that reaches nearly 11 million subscribers.”
Crap. Now I’m going to have to get my morning Buddhist thought for the day from someplace else.
I refuse to line Mudrock’s already too deep pockets.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:22 pm~~~ BREAKING NEWS!!! ~~~
Rupert Murdoch has purchased 100% of the stock of God, Inc.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:22 pmNews Update!
December 4th, 2007 at 6:27 pmHeaven, having been purchased by Murdoch, just declared moral bankruptcy.
wonder how they’ll feel about that after Rupe boosts their numbers by plastering everything with bikini-clad coeds.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:38 pmIt would seem Murdoch is hell-bent on world domination. “Hell” being the operative word.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:38 pmMurdoch owns it all now, from his Page3.com pornography, to his new religious outfit.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:41 pmSaints and Sinners, all under one roof, brought to you by Fox “News” Corp.
I am SHOCKED, frankly, to learn that he did not already own it.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:44 pmGreat! Now we get righteous messaging with the same kind of soft porn on Belief net like they already have on Faux News.
Time to become an internet atheist.
December 4th, 2007 at 6:45 pmI have boycotted tabloid newspapers for years , If we all do this Murdoch could be out of business in 3 months
December 4th, 2007 at 6:48 pmlots of “downmarket” values out there in the religion biz these days. just saying.
December 4th, 2007 at 7:00 pmPraise God, that a truly spiritual, highly ethical Christian gentleman like old Rupe acquired it!
December 4th, 2007 at 7:06 pmAnother one bites the dust.
R.I.P.
Beliefnet
MySpace
PhotoBucket
Murdoch is in talks now to buy LinkedIn and he has previously sent out feelers for Digg. His daughter Elisabeth is in talks to purchase Reveille, the producer of “The Office.”
And on it goes.
December 4th, 2007 at 7:31 pmMaybe Murdoch will do to the religious right what he’s done to the news business…
December 4th, 2007 at 7:31 pmOh joy… more Zionist controlled media.
December 4th, 2007 at 7:39 pmEd Schultz has brought up the idea a few times, progressives could pool/invest their money together and buy a piece of the media. Grass roots investments/contributions…to hear the real news – I am game.
December 4th, 2007 at 7:51 pmDow Jones + Beliefnet. looks like Rupert’s made the perfect connection between the infinitely gullible and the almighty dollar .
December 4th, 2007 at 7:55 pm.
Bush was trying to use fear to get us in another disastrous war. (World War III! Be afraid! Let’s invade!) We are already fighting two failed wars in the Middle East. The last thing we need is a third. Bush is not about diplomacy. He’s about destroying things. I can’t wait until this man leaves office.

I got this from the beliefnet site about the NIE and saw quite a few other posts like it. These dont sound like FOX people.
December 4th, 2007 at 8:07 pmwhen I hear of Murdoch, I think of the contributions going to Hillary who is also a member of AIPAC….
I’m thinking Hillary is going to go down with the news of NIE’s judgments as she supported Kyle-Lieberman Amendment, more AIPAC BS.
My guess is, Murdoch can lie and spin the news to favor his views, AIPAC?, but in time the awakening American people will be looking elsewhere for news.
December 4th, 2007 at 8:19 pmMy guess is, Murdoch can lie and spin the news to favor his views, AIPAC?, but in time the awakening American people will be looking elsewhere for news. -had enough
Murdoch has been a flip-flopping political tool for Thatcher and then Blair [whose secret meetings to discuss national policies did not go over well in Britain] I dont trust him or FOX News with their partisan polarizing agendas
December 4th, 2007 at 8:41 pmThat dude needs to be shot right between the eyes.
December 4th, 2007 at 8:44 pmSo is murdoch gonna expand spiritual values by showing “The Simpsons” or “Married with Children” ?
December 4th, 2007 at 11:20 pm.
Beliefnet sells it’s sole to the Devil.
GO FIGURE.
Pray on that one.
.
December 5th, 2007 at 12:41 amThe FCC and the DoJ sold their souls to the devil when they denied Echostar’s bid to buy DirecTV . . . they concluded that Echostar, a relatively small Colorado start-up, would obtain a monopoly in violation of anti-trust laws if Echostar purchased DirecTV – insead, they decided that a merger with Murdoch’s worldwide enterprises would be better for competition.
Beautiful.
December 5th, 2007 at 1:34 amIt’s a win-win. America can get all of its news, information and entairtainment from one source. No more inefficient programming ( the number of companies that provide your media programming shrunk from more than 200 in 1985 to three since Bush became president). Free enterprise at its finest . . . there is currently no possibility that you will get programming (i.e., your news, radio and entertainment) from anyone but the big three.
Freedom of information . . . it’s what America is all about. You can buy a clock radio, a television, a movie and tv news all from the same politically embedded conglomerate. (Big wonder we are seeing no caskets, funerals or battle footage on the nightly news, and hear no anti-war anthems on the radio – many of you are too young to remember the sixties, but “Ohio,” “Where have all the flowers gone,” and other amazing tunes were a direct result of the anti-war movement under Richard M. Nixon, who, bad president that he was, never sought to silence the voice of America. . . . couldn’t have happened today under this administration and its calculated consolidation of the media (i.e., your voice)
December 5th, 2007 at 1:44 amHonestly, my version of heaven would have a LOT of half naked women. I am thinking we are on the right track here.
December 5th, 2007 at 1:55 amIs there anybody in America who is scarier than Rupert Murdoch? I can’t think of anyone. He should be arrested for preaching hatred. It’s a trajedy that the Zionists in America have made him their frontman, but he appears to have no trouble selling his country down the river.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:01 amSo in other words, Rupert just bought the one site on the web with more falsehoods and misinformation than foxnews.com.
December 5th, 2007 at 7:42 amBut but but golly, RM is a high priest of capitalism, which must place him next to Jesus (let’s just ignore that embarrassing “throwing out the moneychangers” episode, shall we?).
