It’s a win-win. America can get all of its news, information and entairtainment from one source. No more inefficient programming ( the number of companies that provide your media programming shrunk from more than 200 in 1985 to three since Bush became president). Free enterprise at its finest . . . there is currently no possibility that you will get programming (i.e., your news, radio and entertainment) from anyone but the big three.

Freedom of information . . . it’s what America is all about. You can buy a clock radio, a television, a movie and tv news all from the same politically embedded conglomerate. (Big wonder we are seeing no caskets, funerals or battle footage on the nightly news, and hear no anti-war anthems on the radio – many of you are too young to remember the sixties, but “Ohio,” “Where have all the flowers gone,” and other amazing tunes were a direct result of the anti-war movement under Richard M. Nixon, who, bad president that he was, never sought to silence the voice of America. . . . couldn’t have happened today under this administration and its calculated consolidation of the media (i.e., your voice)

The FCC and the DoJ sold their souls to the devil when they denied Echostar’s bid to buy DirecTV . . . they concluded that Echostar, a relatively small Colorado start-up, would obtain a monopoly in violation of anti-trust laws if Echostar purchased DirecTV – insead, they decided that a merger with Murdoch’s worldwide enterprises would be better for competition.
