Early Monday afternoon, the Bush administration released a new National Intelligence Estimate revealing that Iran had halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003. Though the blockbuster revelation was featured prominently that night in all three network newscasts, it was all but ignored on Fox News. Steve Benen reports that on Monday night, only one of Fox’s primetime shows — Special Report with Brit Hume — even mentioned the report. On Tuesday, after President Bush held a news conference, the shows did cover it, but with only conservatives and administration supporters discussing it.
And 4 out of 4 will rot your brain if you watch too long.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:14 pmWHAT??? Brit Hume ignored his marching orders and mentioned something that could be embarrassing to Bushco?
December 5th, 2007 at 3:15 pmAh…. The Inconvenient Truth rears its head again eh Fox?
December 5th, 2007 at 3:15 pmUS MUST BREAK AWAY FROM ISRAEL
US support for Israel, dating even back to 1947, is bought with political campaign contributions to American politicians. Harry Truman defied the advice of his State Department not to partition Palestine or recognize Israel, because officials of the Democrat Party told him they would suffer heavy financial losses if Truman didn’t recognize Israel. The corruption continues to this day.
Quite clearly, friendly relations with oil-producing nations are in the best interest of the US, and sacrificing those good relations for the sake of Israel is NOT in the best interest of the US.
It’s time for the US to put the Israel lobby in its place and take back American politics and politicians for US interests.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:19 pmI’m shocked!! SHOCKED I SAY!!
December 5th, 2007 at 3:19 pmI’m surprised they all didn’t talk about it, but make it seem like it wasn’t all that big a deal. I’ve seen them pull that one a few times.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:19 pmDon’t worry, they will come out tonight and say the intelligence community has it in for Bush and the NIE is all political.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:20 pmIntelligence in any form means very little to these people…
December 5th, 2007 at 3:21 pmOnly CNN was covering the story. It was anti-Bush as this post portrays Fox as pro-Bush.

in other words, CNN for a change was truthful and complete. I get it. Your Deserter-In-Chief, commander Codpiece, is exposed as an incompetent hack, and you object? Some American you aren’t.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:21 pmAccording to Fock Snooze, NIE stands for nightly ignorance and electricshocktherapy.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:23 pmYour source for fairly unbalanced reichwing propaganda.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:24 pmWhen this story broke, I specifically went to FoxNews.com to read their spin. Every other news website featured it as a prominent headline, but Fox of course buried it. Their article hardly even mentioned anything about Iran having no active nuke program, and instead just quoted Hadley and Bush about how we have to keep the pressure on Tehran.
What a joke of a “news” organization. It’s sad how the right-wing wants their own set of facts, and their own version of reality. They remind me of Sherri Shephard on The View. They revel in their ignorance. There’s a reason why most Fox viewers believe Saddam attacked us on 9/11, and that he really did have an active WMD program.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:26 pmYeah…but they had an excuse. There was really cool video of police in california trying to capture an escaped kangaroo. That trumps everything except pixelated shots of Britney’s vJ.J.

Sorry cappy if facts are anti-bush. If this makes you sad, go to the nearest public restroom and tap out the secret password in morse code with your feet, I’m sure larry craig will come to your rescue.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:32 pmWell, I think that by its very nature, Fox News tends to ignore anything that has or contains the word “intelligence”. Something to do with hypocrisy causing their brain cavities (and I mean cavities) to implode….
December 5th, 2007 at 3:33 pmFaux will not touch this story with a 10’ pole because this is the story that’s going to bring the monkey boy down. His soon to be famous presser the other day, where he told the world that he just found out about the NIE last Wednesday, is 1.) A lie or 2.) Proves that he is the most incompetent President in the history of this country. Take your pick Faux.
NOTE: Options 2 implies what Seymour said “Tell me when I want to hear it.†[emphasis on “Iâ€]

December 5th, 2007 at 3:33 pmThere are two simple reasons why FoxSnooze didn’t cover the NIE:
1. Darth Cheney was out hunting with Tony Scalia so Fox couldn’t reach him in order to get their lies straight.
2. Fox decided to keep quiet and let Limpballs and Little Seanie Insanity “focus group test” the party line today.
You can bet they will be hitting the story with full force today and the headline will be: “Fallacious NIE Report Authored by Three Hyper-partisan State Department Officials”.
Yup. That’s the ticket! That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:33 pmEven better – Fox cut away mid-presser to regularly scheduled programming! (At least in some markets.)
December 5th, 2007 at 3:34 pm3 out of 4 Fox primetime shows ignored NIE.
- – Those must be the shows that Huckabee tunes in.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:40 pm“3 out of 4 Fox primetime shows ignored NIE.” Yup, and 4 out of 4 are doing a heckava job being nimrods.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:40 pmThe NIE report was NEWS, so why would it be on Fox? Fox is in the business of marketing and entertainment, not news. Just ask a fox viewer about current events, and it won’t take long to realize this fact.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:41 pmAny doubt about the complicity of “treasonous Fox News”??
December 5th, 2007 at 3:45 pmFox is sliding down the bunghole along with Bush.
December 5th, 2007 at 3:46 pmAny doubt about the complicity of “treasonous Fox News?
Nope.
And it also appears that the WSJ has now caved to the Murdoch propaganda machine with its story today about the NIE having been written by three anti-GDumbya State Department officials.
Neither FoxSnooze nor the WSJ seems able to recognize that the truth has an anti-GDumbya bias.

And, conversely, GDumbya has an anti-truth bias.

Perhaps, Captain, it was the FACTS themselves that were anti-Bush. You know, seeing as it’s about him lying and/or being totally out of the loop on our most critical foreign policy issue and all…
December 5th, 2007 at 4:06 pmI like Lewis Black’s line where he say George Bush has accepted Global Warming as a reality. Now… he’s not so sure anymore.

If it doesn’t fit,
It is bull shit.
Not guilty.
December 5th, 2007 at 4:26 pmDid they fire the producer and writers of the fourth?
December 5th, 2007 at 4:36 pmFox snooze talking points:
The report was written by inexperienced new staffers.
It’s a conspiracy against Bush.
You’re not going to start believing the intelligence now are you?
December 5th, 2007 at 4:47 pmFox: What are you going to believe? What we tell you or your own lying eyes?
December 5th, 2007 at 4:52 pmWhat a surprise – Fox doesn’t cover negative news on Bush.
December 5th, 2007 at 6:29 pmGive them time to get their talking points memorized after Roger Ailes dictates them. When they get the “spin” right, they will report the news.
I successfully ignore 100% of what Fox News broadcasts.

Then there’s the Fox viewers…
December 5th, 2007 at 6:45 pm#13 brian – i checked out the fox website too – did you read john gibson’s spin on this issue?? – omfg!!! – what a disgrace!! – he basically is saying that iran ALREADY has a nuke and it is up to the next prez to take ‘em out and if anyone will, hillary wouldn’t hesitate!!!….yeah nice one gibby – and you of all people would know – must be great having a job where you don’t have to be accountable for anything you say
