Report: ‘massive failures’ at DHS.
Government watchdog CREW today released a report, Homeland Security for Sale — DHS: Five Years of Mismanagement, “detailing massive failures and billions wasted at the Department of Homeland Security.” Some highlights:
– $24 billion has been spent, and at least $178 million wasted, on the failed Coast Guard Deepwater program;
– over $600 million has been allocated for unworkable radiation border scanners;
– $1.3 billion has been lost on the USVISIT program, which was never fully implemented; and
– projected $2 billion loss on the SBInet “virtual fence” border program.

Congress won’t do anything about it; and if they tried to investigate, it would suddenly become a matter of national security and everything would be classified.

And they say the final cost of the GWOT will be in the TRILLIONS, much of it completely unaccounted for. We could probably have made every radical islamist a multi-millionaire with the amount of money we’re pissing into the black hole. It’s obviiously NOT going to build goodwill for the US abroad, so where is that money going? Sad. Our pockets are being picked with a vacuum cleaner.

There are lots and lots of ways to GIVE away or SELL our national treasures.

They are out to corrupt the government and to undermine the people’s confidence in the government’s ability to serve its citizens. The resulting backlash will make the uninformed clamor for lower taxes. They will feel justified because of the incompetence and corruption of the government in providing basic services. The elite will benefit by lower tax rates on the highest income and windfall profits through the privatization of services. Of course, the Republican elite will have the funds to provide necessary services for themselves.
