VDH forgets he wanted to bomb Iran.

VDH forgets he wanted to bomb Iran.

Writing at the Corner today, Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson — who was recently given a National Humanities Medal by President Bush — tried to claim that he has long cautioned against bombing Iran. Unfortunately for Hanson, he was saying something quite different in August:

“I have written too much about why it is a bad idea to bomb Iran now.” — Victor Davis Hanson, 12/5/2007

VERSUS

“We really need to start doing some things beyond talking, and if that is going into Iranian airspace, or buzzing Iranians, or even starting to forget where the border is and taking out some of these training camps.” — Victor Davis Hanson, 8/13/2007

To be fair to the creep, he never actually used the word “bomb”. Because of his bizarre theories about the nature of war, and the “west” vs. the “east”, he probably thought a little muscle flexing would send those dirty Persians running for cover and sobbing like little babies.

The man has been reading too many of his own press releases, and thinks he’s a freakin’ genius.

Do these people not understand the nature of the internet? Of recording devices?

Or are they just hoping against hope that no one will pay attention when they try to rewrite history?

Does every republican lie with impunity now? It appears they have all taken a cue from Bushie, the boy-king.

  6. Gregor Samsa says:

But.. but… Hanson didn’t use the word “bomb”. He only said “take them out” and “forget where the border is”.

    /sarcasm off

    TERRORISTS ARE WHAT TERRORISTS DO.

Acts of aggression to influence political change.

The Administration and their sycophantic groupies ARE acting like the terrorists they seek to annihilate.

I wish the neocons would stop giving themselves National Humanities Medals and such. Now these once-coveted awards are worthless. It’s like they’re covered with sh*t now.

One of our brave elected officials must take up the call and put together a budget proposal for a new, state-of-the-art facility where all of these NUTS can be housed after the next elections.
Call it the “George W Bush Santitarium for Neo-Cons and their Enablers” or something along those lines.
These are dangerous people and they must be contained in a safe environment so as to avoid their harming others (as we all know, Neo-Cons are not known to place THEMSELVES in harm’s way)

  12. Menehune says:

To his credit, he just said “taking out”. I think he was merely advocating that Americans start dating members of the Iranian Revoultionary Guard so they’d see how nice and polite we really are.

  13. teacherman07 says:

In the interview, Hanson is urging retaliation for Iranian attacks on American forces in Iraq, not advocating a bombing campaign directed against Iranian nuclear facilities, the usual connection in which bombing is mentioned. In the recent blog post, he doesn’t say, “I have never, ever advocated any use of force or any bombing against Iran,” but rather, “I have written too much about why it is a bad idea to bomb Iran now,” with clear reference to the Iranian nuclear program that’s the subject of the NIE. There is no contradiction between the two statements, much less evidence of an intent to deceive on Hanson’s part.
