"Every day Saddam remains in power with chemical weapons, biological weapons, and the development of nuclear weapons is a day of danger for the United States." -- Joe Lieberman, August, 2002

"Saddam Hussein's regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies, including our vital ally, Israel. For more than two decades, Saddam Hussein has sought weapons of mass destruction through every available means. We know that he has chemical and biological weapons. He has already used them against his neighbors and his own people, and is trying to build more. We know that he is doing everything he can to build nuclear weapons, and we know that each day he gets closer to achieving that goal." -- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

"The debate over Iraq is not about politics. It is about national security. It should be clear that our national security requires Congress to send a clear message to Iraq and the world: America is united in its determination to eliminate forever the threat of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction." -- John Edwards, Oct 10, 2002

"Iraq does pose a serious threat to the stability of the Persian Gulf and we should organize an international coalition to eliminate his access to weapons of mass destruction. Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." -- Al Gore, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." -- Bob Graham, December 2002

"I will be voting to give the president of the United States the authority to use force - if necessary - to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- John F. Kerry, Oct 2002

"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandates of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." -- Carl Levin, Sept 19, 2002

"Even today, Iraq is not nearly disarmed. Based on highly credible intelligence, UNSCOM [the U.N. weapons inspectors] suspects that Iraq still has biological agents like anthrax, botulinum toxin, and clostridium perfringens in sufficient quantity to fill several dozen bombs and ballistic missile warheads, as well as the means to continue manufacturing these deadly agents. Iraq probably retains several tons of the highly toxic VX substance, as well as sarin nerve gas and mustard gas. This agent is stored in artillery shells, bombs, and ballistic missile warheads. And Iraq retains significant dual-use industrial infrastructure that can be used to rapidly reconstitute large-scale chemical weapons production." -- Ex-Un Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter in 1998

Plus there are many, many more like that from democrats...

DC

Here is your first post in it;s entirety.

The fact remains that the president and vice president could not and cannot force Congress to vote on a damn thing, especially when the Congress was being led by the Democrats at the time.

Why don’t all you partisan BSers come down from your towers and acknowledge that the Iraq vote was done at the time it was because we all wanted to pressure the UN to act quickly to get Saddam into compliance with their obligations.

That’s the truth of the matter. In the end, Rove is more correct than his opponents, since it was the Democrats who had control of the Congress, and thus control over the timing of the vote.

Comment by DreamCrusher — December 6, 2007 @ 5:01 pm

First you come out blazing that dem bloggers keep saying Bush "forced" them to hold a pre-election vote. Then, when I asked for a quote from a dem blogger to that effect, you couldn't provide one and blathered how you'd claimed Rove was just as wrong as dems. The inner tubes don't forget.

DC, your the kind of guy who climbs a tree and slings acorns down at the world below and for all that your just a guy stuck in a tree going nowhere, doing nothing.

Yawn. Rove’s obviously not exactly correct either, but neither are his opponents. They’re both wrong.

Take yourself some Troll lessons and when your shown to be wrong don't then claim that everyone else is wrong too. It's so, well, wingnutty of you to do that.

Dreamcatcher says

Really? Then why do lefty bloggers continue to state that Bush forced the vote on Iraq then?

Please provide quotes from prominent lefty bloggers who say Bush "forced" a vote on Iraq Res. before the 2002 election.

I don't excuse Tom Daschle for giving in to pressure of Bush and greater wingnuttia claiming Dem cowardice if they didn't vote before the 2002 election. Again, for wingnut cognitive dissonance, Rove was saying that Bush didn't want a quick vote and tried to dissuade dems from having a vote before the election. That claim is total bullshit.

The two parties are playing everyone for fools. Only when more people wake up to this fact can we take America back and fulfill the potential of the nation.

OK, I'll bite this time. What is your plan to "take America back and fulfill the potential of the nation." It is not, according to you" to be done through the two parties. Right?

"Oh, I’ll savor the moment a Democrat gets elected, and they, to your horror, decide to stay in Iraq. Especially if it’s Hillary."

All along, Bush has set this up as an operation too big to fail. But it's failing anyway, due to atrocious planning. The next president will be left with the debacle Bush started, and it will be years before Bush's failure is undone. Just like His father left Bill Clinton holding the bag in Somalia.

"All your little dreams will be crushed. All because you couldn’t see through the charade that the Democrats are playing with you liberal naifs."

Comment by DreamCrusher

Dealing with a 2 trillion debt run up by the spend-and-borrow republicans, delousing the various government agencies of Bushies, and restoring the rule of law is what I dream of. And I'll laugh my sodden ass off, when the next president raises your taxes to pay for your little wargasm.

“Oh, I’ll savor the moment a Democrat gets elected, and they, to your horror, decide to stay in Iraq. Especially if it’s Hillary.”

All along, Bush has set this up as an operation too big to fail. But it’s failing anyway, due to atrocious planning. The next president will be left with the debacle Bush started, and it will be years before Bush’s failure is undone. Just like His father left Bill Clinton holding the bag in Somalia.

“All your little dreams will be crushed. All because you couldn’t see through the charade that the Democrats are playing with you liberal naifs.”

Perhaps if the Repukes would stop obstructing everything, they would have. But no, the lockstep lemmings have backed up our National Embarrassment at every turn.

Which I fervently hope will lead them straight into political suicide and relegation to permanent minority status.

You're really not demonstrating much knowledge or insight as to how the political process works, dc. A couple more years of study (that doesn't include watching Fox) and you'll be fit to come back and comment on some of this stuff. Until then, you're just tipping your hand - letting too many people know how much you don't know, and they're going to use that against you, for sure.
