I also find it interesting the the right wingers think it is Bush’s job to protect the people. That could not be further from the truth. His oath of office was to protect and defend the constitution. As president one of his duties is commander in chief of the armed forces. This duty was not given to the president by our founders so he could direct the military to go hither and yon acting out the military fantasies of elitist think tanks. No the duty was given so that the military knew they were to be subject to civilian oversight.

Under this administration there has been no oversight they have treated the military as simply being one more piece of the executive branch to be used to achieve political goals, be those goals instilling a sense of nationalism by using the military as a focal uniting point (See Germany circa 1940) or to use the military to achieve longstanding ambitions (see Germany circa 1940, and the PNAC circa 1998). I’m sure the more gifted writers here could spell this out better but to my understanding of the constitution (I’ve read it, I’ve read the federalist, I’ve read many many court cases, I’ve taken several law classes in college etc… so my knowledge is not Supreme court level, but it is much higher than sh!t house lawyer knowledge) the president is failing lock stock and barrel at defending it. Thus that makes him un-American and a traitor, and by extension anyone who supports his every last move is also the same.

When I was in he Army, I had a Top Secret (SCI-SBI) clearance. Even though what I knew is no longer relevant, I don’t talk about certain aspects of my job at the Pentagon.

If there was ANY real evidence that torture worked, Pres. Bush would be stumbling and bumbling all over himself in an attempt to explain it.
