Variety reports:
The latest National Intelligence Estimate concluding that Iran discontinued its nuclear weapons program four years ago has claimed one casualty: CNN has postponed speculative documentary “We Were Warned — Iran Goes Nuclear.”
The two-hour spec, which was slated for Dec. 12 under the “CNN Presents” banner, was “set partially in the future,” featuring a what-if scenario as former government officials — playing fictional cabinet members — debate how to deal with the Iranian threat.
That special was “based on a different set of rules and a different set of conditions,” said CNN veep-senior exec producer Mark Nelson, noting that the surprising NIE report “changed everything.”

lol! doh!
December 6th, 2007 at 2:41 pmMaybe they can sell it to the SciFi Channel…
December 6th, 2007 at 2:43 pmcnn is very israel alliance friendly
December 6th, 2007 at 2:44 pmOops, the ugly reality that Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and other muslim countries do not present “a threat” to the good ole US of A…
The major threat to world peace is the insane troublemaker Bush, who projects his own insanity and hostility onto the leadership of other countries. He’s the projectionist now…
Impeach, then flush. Repeat.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:44 pmWith the writer’s strike, certainly 24 could use the script!
December 6th, 2007 at 2:45 pm…”NIE report changed everything.”
Well duh!
December 6th, 2007 at 2:45 pmthese new CNN newsfiction products are scary – they should leave the hypothetical dramatizations to the History Channel or something. Someone at CNN doesn’t realize how badly they’re damaging it’s credibility as a news source.
Market-driven thinking – CEO’s with MBA’s – the sure fire method to dilute, bastardize, and discredit any good idea that comes along – thanks!! America’s business schools, for continuing to crank out MBA grads who shouldn’t be allowed to run a fruit stand.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:45 pmSo was that going to be like the ‘documentary’ movie on ABC about 9/11 or whatever that aired last year?
December 6th, 2007 at 2:46 pmThey can always have Lou Dobbs star in a documentary entitled “We Were Warned – The U.S. Goes Nachos”.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:46 pmCan’t they just dub in “Syria”?
December 6th, 2007 at 2:46 pmFunny (not) how the only nukuler countries which pose a “threat” to us are either the one’s who don’t do business with us, or have natural resources they’d like to protect FROM us by ACQUIRING “newks”?
(the spittle drips from the trolls slack-jawed mouth)
December 6th, 2007 at 2:50 pmToo bad they hadn’t showed: “We were warned : the Aug 6th PDB : bin Laden determined to strike in US”
or, is that too historical?
December 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pmThe two-hour spec, which was slated for Dec. 12 under the “CNN Presents†banner, was “set partially in the future,†featuring a what-if scenario as former government officials — playing fictional cabinet members — debate how to deal with the Iranian threat.
******What more evidence do you need to see how the Telco Act of ‘96 has harmed our country & democracy.6 major companies controlling all we hear, read & see.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pmCan someone please tell me why a “news” channel would be producing a speculative documentary like this anyhow? Oh that’s right–they aren’t a news channel–they were actively helping to hype a threat and promote the march to war. That makes them complicit toadies.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:51 pmOh darn — CNN’s propaganda masquerading as “news” got scuttled.
Why hasn’t CNN produced any documentaries entitled “We Were Warned — North Korea Goes Nuclear” or “We Were Warned — Israel Goes Nuclear”?
December 6th, 2007 at 2:53 pmWhat on earth is CNN thinking?
How about a documentary based on a real trend, one in which the President of the United States declares martial law and hundreds of thousands die in the streets as democracy is snuffed out. No more or less real than what they were planning to run.
Pathetic.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:53 pmSpeculative documentries. Now that’s a new one. Was it written by cheney “by chance”. Might it be time place your bets on what will happen if we continue to live in the bubble?
December 6th, 2007 at 2:55 pmCmon, CNN, go ahead and broadcast your bullshite propaganda piece even when it’s now obviously just a pack of neocon dreamcream lies.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:55 pmDont worry Iran had made a documentary also
” The American battleplans for Iran”
thats been shelfed too
December 6th, 2007 at 2:56 pmWe were warned by a guy named Orwell.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:58 pmI thought the #1 rule of news agencies is that they are supposed to report the news not create news. Apparently nobody told CNN about it.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:59 pmNow is the time to ask Bush for the $50 million back, that was set aside for nasty, lying documentaries about Iran
December 6th, 2007 at 2:59 pmIn its place, CNN will this weekend air two Campbell Brown-hosted specials on the Iran situation and its history. Portions of “We Were Warned” correspondent Frank Sesno’s original reporting will be incorporated into those hours, which air Saturday and Sunday.
So there it is…This was supposed to be Campbell Brown’s big coming-out party at CNN. That speaks volumes. And they are still running “specials” which will undoubtably tell us that we should think about bombing them anyhow.
December 6th, 2007 at 2:59 pmI don’t know if Iran’s documentary has been postponed or not… Really, all this means is instead of finding out later, we know right now how wrong we’ll be to invade a Middle Eastern nation.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:00 pmWhat more evidence do you need to see how the Telco Act of ‘96 has harmed our country & democracy.6 major companies controlling all we hear, read & see.

6 companies–But only 1 voice–that is what is truly scary.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:01 pmSo, CNN is trying to scoop Fux News with their entry in the docu-drama category, or would that be a dramedy? Either way, what a farce!
December 6th, 2007 at 3:04 pmMaybe they should play the movie about the battle of Thermopolis over and over and over again.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:04 pmXerxes was a really bad guy, a Persian, and he might be scheming to nuke the Spartans…

And signed into law by Bill Clinton.
Never trust a Corporate Democrat.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:07 pmBetcha they were pissed that Bush was doing the war drumbeat and were commanded by the CEO’s to support it, which turned out to be a lie.
NAH, they will just wait till Bush comes up with another lie to play it sometime in the future, say Summer 08, just before the elections and after another “Terrorist” attack on US soil, which will conveniently happen just about then.

December 6th, 2007 at 3:08 pmI wonder what changed between now and 2003 when the intelligence wasn’t confirming what the Bush Administration was saying about Iraq, but they went ahead and pushed the falsehood anyway.
Huh.

December 6th, 2007 at 3:15 pmMaybe they can show it as the ‘movie of the week’ at the Federal Prison with it’s illustrious occupants :
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Powell, Gonzales, Libby, Rove et al.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:17 pmSounds like a hack project to begin with… but KUDOS to CNN for at least having the integrity to pull it after the NIE was released.
We shouldn’t have to be grateful for such a move, but in this current political and journalistic climate… I AM THANKFUL.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:19 pmand woof and mrs dan senor are beyond devastated that their awesome! little shock’n'awe redux is put on hold…
December 6th, 2007 at 3:23 pmHow can they possibly call it a documentary?! Michael Mooroe includes real people’s personal opinions in his documentaries and suddenly “partially set in the future” “former govern, ent officials playing fictional cabinet members” and “Iran Goes Nuclear” (in the face of the NIE) are all acceptable to CNN for a documentary?
These people are nuts. This whole structure is crumbling. We need a new book, a prequel to 1984, a survivor’s guide to armegeddon. ’cause here it comes…
December 6th, 2007 at 3:24 pmCNN = Credible News? NOT!!!!
December 6th, 2007 at 3:28 pmThey can’t report what actually happened in the past. How the f&@k are they going to depict something set “partially in the future”?
December 6th, 2007 at 3:37 pmTracy2 is going to be beside himself with hysteria over this – In case you didn’t know, Tracy2 knows everything about Iran, and exactly what their plans are, so we’d better just hush, and do what he and chuck norris say, right away, or we’ll all be dead by New Years.
December 6th, 2007 at 3:42 pmMaybe they can do a faux documentary on the rapid decline of their credibility. Oh wait! That’s already occurred. ZING!
December 6th, 2007 at 3:51 pmAnd signed into law by Bill Clinton.

My ongoing thought exactly.
December 6th, 2007 at 4:10 pmCNN should have been the first to break the the story one year ago that Iran has no nuclear weapons. Instead, they have a tiny investigative journalism unit and are not very critical of presidents. CNN and the traditional news outlets merely parrot whatever government officials say. They are no different than Pravda during the Soviet Union.
December 6th, 2007 at 4:16 pm…and replaces it with, “Bush tried to lie us into another war.”
December 6th, 2007 at 4:23 pmWho’d have played Sandy Berger?
December 6th, 2007 at 6:02 pmMaybe CNN could turn its spotlight on the history of imperial America and imperial England when the CIA and the Brits overthrew the democratically-elected government of Iran 1n 1953 and replaced it with the vile vicious torturing and murdering Shah… Stomping on Iranian democracy, kinda makes you proud to be ‘Merican, huh?
December 6th, 2007 at 6:36 pm45 – lucky for Righty that most Americans have a juvenile aversion to historical knowledge.
December 6th, 2007 at 6:50 pmI think the military brass if forcing Congress to do their job and the media also. Adm. Fallon sounds like he is close to arresting the Z-ioCon traitors in our gvt.

yeah, and msnbc, abc, cbs are not :-)
The funniest thing I saw was Wolfie Blitzer strutting in front of a (TV) map of Iran and every part of Iran there was covered with small red nuclear symbols.
It really was hillarious.
Only Americans are dumb enough to fall for this propaganda.
December 6th, 2007 at 8:13 pmDoes anyone still TRUSTS CNN???!!!!
December 6th, 2007 at 9:27 pmI meant… Does anyone still TURST CNN???? When I see its logo, I change chennels…
December 6th, 2007 at 9:28 pmThe evidence is there CNN is AGENDA driven and presents more and more speculation and less news , every day .
A. -Abe Vreis (Dutch Reporter) found out Ft. Benning Psyops
were working at CNN Atlanta , later confirmed by station . Can u Believe that several PSYOPS creating ‘ NEWS” , Appalling .
B. Walter Issacson refused to show Afghan Civilian casualties ‘because of 9 -11′ . Making a predetermination to how to cover news and facts , because it MIGHT offend some is scandalous .
C. The Generals, Colonels, CFR represented on CNN is appalling , Gen Grange ; Cohen ; Clark ; and the banners promoting ” operation Iraqi freedom ” – sick joke .
D. Fell over when I heard Aaron Brown call uber right wing war monger Robert Kagan ( signer of PNAC ) ” my good friend ” , during what was supposedly an interview .
E. Lou Dobbs not only attacks “illegals’ he regulary attacks China for their ” threatening military build up ” . Leaving out facts ours is TEN times more and PNAC’s plan includes the surrounding of China , THEY know it .
The usual Venezuela bashing is expected , but framing China as not reacting to the U.S.’s aggression is absurd .
F . There is virtually NO REPORTING of GAZA, unless Palestinians are killing each other . When Israel killed OVER TEN people, CNN covered it at the bottom as a banner , guess DEAD Palestinians are ” not worthy victims” when killed by JEWS . not to mention the numerous school kids that have gotten their heads BLOWN OFF ,which NEVER makes on the Pro-AIPAC CNN>.
G. During Larry Franklin prosecution there’s a literal BLACK OUT of NEWS . WHY, they are prosecuting TWO AIPAC executives for receiving documents illegally from Franklin . BlitzeR has worked for AIPAC and CNN is basically an arm for Israeli foreign policy .
This is just SOME of the agenda driven ,(WHEN they aren’t hyping the FRICKEN WEATHER ), some of their agenda driven so called news and Wolf Blitzer’s , what I call SPECULATION ROOM, is about the WORST, non informative , one trick pony ” NEWS ” filled with ENDLESS SPECULATION, what if, what happens if , poll driven non sense that I have ever seen and it’s getting worst everday .
December 7th, 2007 at 3:29 amI hope you all understand one or another reason. When world is uniting because of speed of information communication, the leaders are driving people to dump a bomb on some literate/illiterate living beings or civilization. Religion is not civilization as USA realizes. Who then, can make a mistake? Read out a yoga practice here. When some one speaks about war, speak about peace. This is yoga for better life now. Peace should be in hearts and mind that are important parts of body too. Live happily and forever.
