Washington Post’s ‘fair and balanced’ op-ed page.

Gracing the Washington Post’s opinion page today are two former Bush administration officials, two movement conservatives and a journalist-turned-columnist warning that “47 million uninsured” isn’t “our biggest health-care problem.” Hardly anyone’s idea of balance. Here’s how the page is advertised on the frontpage of the Post’s website:

  1. Menehune Says:

Don't forget the NYTimes--they had the anti-NIE op-ed today, too.

  2. DieNowForPeace Says:

Of course, to those beholden to the Pharmaceutical lobby, the biggest problem is product liability litigation.

Man, I'm dead tired of the phuckers.

  3. Marie Says:

    Nice.
WaPo, a fair and balanced newspaper of our time, right up there with the Washington Times.

  4. barfly Says:

Hey, it's two neo-cons vs. two paleocons. For the Wapo, that's journalistic balance.

  5. Bobwurst Says:

great, another republican who wants to molest someone...

  6. patooty Says:

Now we get to see whose side the MSM is on and where their bread is buttered. They'll out themselves handily with how they choose to cover this blistering NIE report and scathing indictment of the bush administration.

  7. DieNowForPeace Says:

Why can't the National Enquirer cover politics?

  8. patooty Says:

bobwurst - Isn't molester and republican one in the same? They want to molest something or someone all of the time. It's either young men or programs to benefit the people.

  9. Bush Cover Ups Says:

The most important thing for the UNited staes is making sure your people have good health

Were sick of stories coming out the US on our news channels of kids dying of simple toothaches and leading to massive absesses,

  10. patooty Says:

When americans discover the truth, they can hold these newspapers on charges of propaganda & treason along with the bushies.

  11. Uncle Ho Says:

These days, the National Enquirer has more credibility than the msm.

  12. Jason Says:

Just to be fair to the Washington Post. Yesterday, they had four Op-Eds that argued the other side. So it is fair, just on seperate days.

I'm a fan of TP, but I'm noticing recently that they're moving closer to conservative-style attach methods. Be more objective.

  13. patooty Says:

If I were editor of a newspaper today I'd be very careful about what I publish on what will turn out to be bush's fall from the white house. The people are sick of spin which happens to be another word for lie. Once something is put in print and circulated, it becomes prima facie evidence. We are looking at the line drawn in the sand between the fascist media and the people. The people will win if by no other method than boycotting the MSM entirely and effectively shutting them down.

Prima facie evidence coupled with the owners/editors/writers who intentional perpetuate the "lie" results in crimes against the people and prison time.

  14. raynman Says:

Please please please end the writer's strike so that we can get the Daily Show and the Colbert Report back on the task of presenting REAL news to the public.

It's ironic that the MSM responded to Stewart's shot across the media's bow on Crossfire years ago not by re-examining itself and moving back toward its journalistic roots, but entrenched itself even deeper into the back pockets of the established elite.

That's why the media fears/hates blogs with a passion. Journalism isn't about going to College and earning a degree, its about asking the tough questions and damn the consequences.

  15. Fan of Man Says:

so this is more proof republicans LOVE molestation..... we know. we know.

  16. patooty Says:

coincidence? Dr. Daniel Amen suggests that all presidential candidates be scanned to detect early onset Alzheimer's Disease. I think that Bush's Alzheimer's diagnosis was made by his recent 'I don't remember' comments. Maybe what we're looking at here is mental disease and not just stupidity.

  17. Bush Cover Ups Says:

TP this is what the UK had on the news yesterday ,,, the unsafe areas of Afghanistan for Aid workers all on 2 maps , before and after ,,,,,, the difference is unreal

Leaked aid map of Afghanistan reveals expansion of no-go zones

  18. patooty Says:

So Chimp escapes criminal prosecution by a mental disorder claim and Darth excapes criminal prosecution due to heart problems. Either way I think these two neocon-fascists will be out of the white house before 09.

#12 - "I’m a fan of TP, but I’m noticing recently that they’re moving closer to conservative-style attach methods. Be more objective." Comment by Jason — December 6, 2007 @ 10:21 am

I have yet to see anyone banned for having an opinion opposite from TP's. It's only people who violate the Terms of Use.

It's the Redstate/Freeper/Limbaugh cabal who ban anyone who refuses to swig the kool-aide and dares to opine anything other than their conserva-fascist approved talking points.

    TP isn't as bad as the right-whiners are. Yet. . . . . . ;-)

  20. shoeless Says:

What's wrong? The Washington Post Op-ed page is balanced between the extreme fringe far right, and the bat$h!t crazy lunatic right.

  21. pluege Says:

    Washington Post tag line:

"The propaganda arm of right wing extremists.'

they can have it for free.

  22. Marcus Aurelius Says:

Here's a clue: Bolton looks into the mirror each morning and decides to go out into the world without shaving off the wacky mustache. Need I say more?

We all already know that the WaPo has been assimilated.

  23. missmolly Says:

And this is the "liberal" MSM that the wingnuts are forever whining about?

  24. Zooey Says:

    What liberal media?

  25. patooty Says:

    Captain Kangaroo's still alive?

  26. Vet Says:

Wilfred Brimley looks GREAT! Lost quite a bit of weight.

  27. lefttown Says:

3-to-1 odds that the top of Bolton's head is as bald as a newborn baby's behind. That looks like one cheap toupee he's wearing. That dust-gatherer below his nose could be a fake, too.

  28. VerbalKint Says:

The Washington Post has been turned into complete garbage. Except for Froomkin.

Jason, only an idiot would deny that the WaPo is a hard right propaganda sheet that does little more than publish White House press releases.

  29. GSD Says:

Muppet-face Bolton must be very upset about Bush appeasing Kim Jong Il. Bush sent Lil' Kim a mushy love letter recently.

Bush is rewarding on of the leaders of the Axis of Evil!

    -GSD

  30. GSD Says:

On the page that Jason notes there is a piece by David Ignatious who was a war pimping whore and also Dean David Broder, a personal friend of Karl Roves who eats quail wings and sausage at the Rove house and says how much he 'likes' Karl Rove.

    A real lefty crew indeed.

    -GSD

  31. Peter C Says:

The quote from Bolton is revealing. "an essentially unmolested fashion". Is that the job of the United States - to be the world's "molester"? If so, these Republican's sure are qualified.

  32. hellinabucket Says:

    Anti Bush = Pro USA.

  33. hellinabucket Says:

16 separate agencies compiled the NIE.

  34. Krazny Says:

    Comment by John Kerry — December 6, 2007 @ 10:51 am

The facts directly contradict my beliefs in the father (Reagan) the son (Bush II) and the holy ghost (Rush) thus it must be false.

  35. DieNowForPeace Says:

    all anti Bush

    Welcome to the majority.

  36. deebaser Says:

It’s ironic that the MSM responded to Stewart’s shot across the media’s bow on Crossfire years ago not by re-examining itself and moving back toward its journalistic roots, but entrenched itself even deeper into the back pockets of the established elite.

    -------------

Tee Vee Journalists all seem to have nice suits, book deals, etc. Tony Snow had to leave a job at the white house because the low 6 figure salary was too financially constricting.

    "Commentary" is the new "Journalism"

  37. Uncle Ho Says:

Bolten sez: I am the walrus. goo-goo ga joob

  38. theswan Says:

Good reason to surf rather that buy print.

And where are the Democrats? Hiding? Seems that they make no news or just try to disappear behind failed attempts to follow up on subpoenas.

Republicans sell lies. Democrats sell nothing.

  39. Leftside Annie Says:

Well, I guess if one end of a teeter-totter is resting on the ground, you could conceivably call that "balance"...

  40. desaparecido Says:

No one with a mustache and haircut like that should be allowed to opine in the Post. Incidentally, who wins in a fist fight between WP op-eders? Ignatius? Eugene Robinson?
Who you guys like and why? Bring it?

    http://www.tshirtinsurgency.com

  41. Dagoril Says:

Looks like it's time for another Corporo-Fascist "journalist" ethics conference.

I'll go get the smelling salts, I anticipate many cases of the vapors over there!

  42. muckmac Says:

Since when was "opinion" supposed to be "fair and balanced"? That's the whole point of an Op/Ed page - to be unfair and unbalanced. Granted, the WP seems to have an inherent lean in general, but calling them "biased" about their opinion page is a bit of a reach....

  43. defendwesterncivilization Says:

Bolton is a very wise man who has studied evil and understands the true goals of Irans 7th century based leaders who women should be the slaves of men and bow to them like hitler wanted the "mud people" to bow to him. Nobody wants war including conservatives but to Have Peace at the cost of wishful thinking is the same as the moron Neville chamberlain declaring peace in our time while hitler was planning to kill 1 billion Jews and countless millions of others.

  44. defendwesterncivilization Says:

Tony Snow did not leave cause the pay was bad he is dealing a serous
illness and does not want to waste time dealing with the liberal media who have made up their minds to support the democrats and Hate Jews and western civilization.
