NBC has rejected a TV ad by the White House front group Freedom’s Watch “because it refers to the group’s Web site, which the network said was too political.” The ad thanks soldiers for their service but also contains a “welcoming message” that states: “For too long, conservatives have lacked a permanent political presence to do battle with the radical special interests groups and their left-wing allies in government.” “We have a policy that prohibits acceptance of advertising that deals with issues of public controversy,” said Alan Wurtzel of NBC.
Yet they’ll peddle every other kind of crap known to man. Heck, NBC–go ahead and run their ads. They’ll be funnier than any of your lame-ass comedies.
December 7th, 2007 at 5:29 pmsorry Ari
December 7th, 2007 at 5:29 pmI don’t care whether or not NBC rejects the ad, as long as their policy is applied consistently.
December 7th, 2007 at 5:31 pmthey turn down liberal groups’ ads all the time…
December 7th, 2007 at 5:38 pmGood. I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but it seems like Ari and others are propagandizing not for American conservatism, but for Zionism.
December 7th, 2007 at 5:39 pmLets see here,
the radical special interest groups are Big Oil and Big Pharm
and
lthe eft-wing allies in government? does Freedom Watch mean the government that is led by an authoritarian Republican? or is it the increasingly conservative Supreme Court they are referencing?
December 7th, 2007 at 5:40 pmhow about the Congress which was led by Republicans until 2006?
Oooooh, I can hear reichwing heads ’splodin’ already!!!
December 7th, 2007 at 5:43 pmari’s a pro when it comes the throwing down the utterly false premise.
December 7th, 2007 at 5:48 pmtweety’s got huckleberry footage on the box, and rev.gov. huckleberry is claiming his surge in the polls is, literally, the product of divine intervention, and coming very close to declaring himself a messiah….
let’s hear it for the first christian-ayatollah presidential candidate!!!
December 7th, 2007 at 5:51 pmThis is surprising. It’s usually progressives that are censored:
Networks Refuse To Air Liberal Ads, Too
But this isn’t the first time. FW had an ad refused in August because it asked viewers to call their representatives and voice their support for the President and the war, but the phone number went to an operator who asks if you agree with the ad. If you do, your call is patched through. If you do not, they hang up on you.
December 7th, 2007 at 5:53 pmFor me, this is my Freedom Watch.
December 7th, 2007 at 5:55 pm“For too long, conservatives have lacked a permanent political presence to do battle…”
December 7th, 2007 at 5:58 pmWhat! You mean 7 years of WH lies, re-writing agency reports, secret energy policy meetings with energy companies, bankruptcy laws written my the banking industry, prescription drug law written by pharmacy companies; all this and more, and that’s not enough political presence?
Well, gee, we’re sorry. Now, go peddle your cry-baby crap somewhere else.
I saw that “Freedumb’s Watch”ad on CNN and thought it was in very poor taste to politicize our military the way Ari Fleischer and Dan Senor did.
I also saw the terrific ThinkProgress/MoveOn ad touting Progressive ideals on CNN a few times and thought it was fantastic. I’m going to contribute some greenbacks to ThinkProgress so they can buy more air time.
Keep up the outstanding work!
December 7th, 2007 at 6:47 pmBut the “Swiftboater Ads” are just fine.

December 7th, 2007 at 6:54 pmI saw that “Freedumb’s Watchâ€ad on CNN and thought it was in very poor taste to politicize our military the way Ari Fleischer and Dan Senor did.
Corporate News Network can’t refuse to run the ad, after all Dan (second in command under Paul Bremer during the CPA days of the Iraqi occupation) Senor is married to Campbell Brown of diamonds or pearls is a legitimate question for a presidential candidate fame.
December 7th, 2007 at 10:22 pmThese Freedom Watch freaks would kill you and me in a dark alley if they were sure they could get away with it.
December 7th, 2007 at 10:56 pm“For too long, conservatives have lacked a permanent political presence to do battle with the radical special interests groups and their left-wing allies in government.â€
This is the greatest example of theatre of the absurd since Samuel Beckett.
