On Fox News yesterday, Bill O’Reilly let loose on “far-left websites” like DailyKos, stating, “If you read these far-left websites, you’re a devil worshipper. You are.” O’Reilly’s ombudsman responded, “As a journalist, you know better than that.” O’Reilly shot back: “Satan is running the DailyKos. Yes, he is!”
Watch it:
At the end of the segment, O’Reilly said, “That was a little satire there…don’t get too upset about it.” But he then added, “I still think they are satanists.”
UPDATE: From Tom Tomorrow’s This Modern World:

December 7th, 2007 at 4:30 pmSatanism….Sweet!
Actually, anyone with a clue knows New England Patriots fans are the
real Devil Worshippers. It would explain a lot about their season.
GO STEELERS!!!
December 7th, 2007 at 4:31 pmBill is not very good at satire. He should stick to what he knows best - being the most dishonest person on TV.
December 7th, 2007 at 4:32 pmActually, Satan and Hell are now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Murdoch’s News Corporation.
So, Bill actually works for Murdoch and his EMPLOYEE Satan…

December 7th, 2007 at 4:34 pmWow — did I miss the satanic homily on TP today? The pentagrams? The sacrificial rituals?
Is there some secret area of TP I don’t know about?
December 7th, 2007 at 4:34 pmHa Ha! Falafel King is really working hard for the gold medal on the Olbermann show. And he is still talking smack about Dailykos.
Memo to Falafel Bill-O: Newsweek didn’t call you to be a contributor. Hint, hint!!!
December 7th, 2007 at 4:35 pmO’Reilly’s an idiot. The remarkable thing is that he has a forum from which to display his idiocy. Feh.

December 7th, 2007 at 4:36 pmOh boy, Keith’s going to have a ball with this one tonight. I almost believe that Billo writes this material for Keith on purpose.
December 7th, 2007 at 4:37 pmO’Reilly’s ombudsman responded, “As a journalist, you know better than that.â€
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

That’s almost as funny as the IDIOTIC “satanist blogs” remark.
What a moran.

Yeah, really. I mean, I’ve been on TP for how long and I’ve missed all the dark rituals? Geez, come on, folks. ;)
Hey, BillO. Got a word for you. Starts with dum, which you definitely are, and ends with bass, and the only thing that this has to do with fish is how fishy your support seems to be. ;) Put it together, and you know what you are…
December 7th, 2007 at 4:38 pmremember - to billo, “far-left” means anyone to the left of Trent Lott (who is a quitter)
December 7th, 2007 at 4:38 pmHe’s on to us. Quick–open the window to get the sulphur smell out of here. And fersatanssakes someone get this damn goat head out of here before someone sees it!

December 7th, 2007 at 4:40 pmSo does Billo think he’s Jesus Christ? Because he’s certainly getting on the cross.

December 7th, 2007 at 4:40 pmHow come I haven’t been invited to the animal sacrifices and blood rituals that obviously ThinkProgress organises?
I feel so left out…

December 7th, 2007 at 4:40 pmYep….he got it right 100%
Not wanting more wars = satanism
Wanting truth from our civil servants = satanism
sick of the lies and spin = satanism
living up to our treaties = satanism
NOT TORTURING = satanism
giving our veterans the care they deserve = satanism
Can it be any clearer?
December 7th, 2007 at 4:41 pmMust be slow on Fox News for new material. Bill-O must be running out of material. Thanks Bill for entertaining us during the writer’s strike!

PATRIOTISM! According to Bill-O, anyway…and a frightening number of people who agree with him.

December 7th, 2007 at 4:45 pmMaybe he can get Geraldo to do a two hour primetime special report on the threat of satanic worship. I really miss those days when paranoia was restricted to concerns over rampant daycare provider child abuse and demonic worship. None of you taped that gem of Americana by any chance? What I’d give to relive those fearful days
December 7th, 2007 at 4:45 pmOh, the sacrifices we’ve had to make to hang out around here!
December 7th, 2007 at 4:46 pmWhy does O’Reilly’s “ombudsman” keep insisting O’Reilly is a “journalist”? Clearly, Bill O’Reilly is not a journalist. He’s a clown, and he wants it that way. No self-respecting journalist would ever baselessly accuse someone of being a “devil worshipper.” O’Reilly is a joke, a caricature. He makes no pretense whatsoever of being a journalist. He hates journalism (as does Fox News)–that’s the whole basis of his show, and his popularity.

I have always admired the loyalty of Browns fans in the face of all evidence to the logic of it. (Hint: Juan, that’s another softball I am tossing you….)
December 7th, 2007 at 4:48 pmSo,
Bill thinks we worship the devil.
and
Coulter says we are godless.
I’m so confused. Well at least the right wing is there to tell me how to think.
December 7th, 2007 at 4:49 pmIt should be pointed out, that the only reason that creeps like O’Reilly feel empowered to peddle such nonsense, is because the vast majority of Americans are complete knuckle-dragging morons that don’t have the common sense to turn his TV show off.
If he didn’t have the ratings, he would just fade away.
Don’t blame him, blame your neighbors folks. It’s their fault that he has a platform for this stupid crap.
December 7th, 2007 at 4:49 pmWe will never make those like O’Reilly accept societal norms. They will always pose a threat to a well ordered society. People like O’Reilly should simply be put down as you would put down any dangerous animal. A few good examples of the right wing being treated this way would return civil discourse to our society.

December 7th, 2007 at 5:34 pmFrom wikipedia, under the heading “defence mechanisms”:
“Projection: Projection is a primitive form of paranoia. Projection also reduces anxiety by allowing the expression of the undesirable impulses or desires without becoming consciously aware of them; attributing one’s own unacknowledged unacceptable/unwanted thoughts and emotions to another; includes severe prejudice, severe jealousy, hypervigilance to external danger, and “injustice collecting”. It is shifting one’s unacceptable thoughts, feelings and impulses within oneself onto someone else, such that those same thoughts, feelings, beliefs and motivations as perceived as being possessed by the other.”
Or, as stated more succintly on http://www.abess.com —
“projection — A defense mechanism, operating unconsciously, in which what is emotionally unacceptable in the self is unconsciously rejected and attributed (projected) to others.”
In any event, it would appear that the shoe fits, falafel boy.

December 7th, 2007 at 6:01 pmRe: comments #66 and #83 –
According to Andrea Mackris’ complaint in the lawsuit against Bill-O, it appears that he used the terms “loofa” and “falafel” interchangeably.
Falafel is defined by the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary as follows: “a spicy mixture of ground vegetables (as chick-peas or fava beans) formed into balls or patties and then fried”
Perhaps O’Leilly (or one of his rabid fans, aka trolls on this site) could explain how one might use falafel in the shower under intimate circumstances. Wouldn’t it fall apart?
If you are trying to lose weight (or avoid gaining it during the holidays) and need an appetite suppressant, you may wish to review the complaint in full, which can be found at:

Question to upright left — If you take Bill-O at his word and are posting on this site, perhaps that would make you a devil-worshipper? So, are you or aren’t you?

December 8th, 2007 at 11:48 amRe: Post #119
Since the Christian Reich tells us that we must take the Bible literally, word for word, then at least one of the following conditions must surely apply:
1) None of them have ever sinned. But this can’t be true. The New Testament clearly states in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — English Standard Version
This then leads to Option #2:
2) Every member of the Christian Reich is missing eyes, ears, tongues, brains (likely in many cases) and/or other assorted appendages. The Biblical reference appears near the end of this post.
Does their respective church perform the necessary surgery as part of a religious ceremony? Does the altar double as a surgical suite? Do major health insurance plans cover the necessary costs or is this funded by donations left in the offering plate?
Since we are told that the Bible is infallible and “all have sinned”, then body parts which cause a person to sin must be removed.
Still shaking your head in disbelief? Then please consider the following passage from the New Testament (i.e., Matthew 5:27-30):
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ 28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.” — English Standard Version
Wouldn’t this be a great two-part question during the next Repuke “debate”? 1 - Do you believe every word in the Bible? 2 - Which body parts are you missing? And hook all of the candidates up to a polygraph machine, just for fun.
December 8th, 2007 at 12:16 pmSorry, wilco, keltoi, et al:
Ever since Rush Limbaugh declared the Pittsburgh Steelers to be his favorite football team, the curse of the Rightwing Nutballs has descended upon that team.
I could never root for a team knowing Rush Limbaugh was rooting for them at the same time I was…and rooting against them and making him cry are oh-so-satisfying.
December 8th, 2007 at 2:14 pmOh goodness.
Time to call the guys with the butterfly nets…

Sorry, bud, but the post to which I responded said, “Whatever the reich wing accuses us of, they are doing themselves.” Therefore, I don’t feel the need to limit it to devil worship.
December 9th, 2007 at 12:36 amI’m quite confident that O’Reilly was referring to those who agree with left wing sites, not those who read them to try to understand how seemingly normal people can actually have some of the views expressed here. ;)
