Progressive talk radio host Rachel Maddow “taped a pilot” recently for MSNBC, in which she teamed up with MSNBC prime time VP Bill Wolff. Maddow currently makes “irregular appearances on MSNBC.” According to TVNewser, there is “no word on if the pilot is being considered ready for take-off.”
UPDATE: MSNBC’s Dan Abrams is hosting a series this week entitled Bush League Justice which focuses on how the Bush administration has politicized the Justice Department.

I listen to Dr. Maddow every afternoon. Kent Jones isn’t exceptional, but she is…
December 10th, 2007 at 6:44 pmGo Rachel Go.
.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:45 pmGood luck Rachel. Congratulations on getting a show on TV, but makes me wonder, have they bought you out and giving you a script to read from, you know direct from the White House?
Anyway, give ‘em hell.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:49 pmLooks like the “free market of ideas” is changing its mind about “what sells”.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:51 pmShe is very smart with courage.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:54 pmhave they bought you out and giving you a script to read from, you know direct from the White House?
Fat chance Buckie, she’s as true as can be. Smart as a whip and cuts to the bone.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:55 pmMSNBC needs to bring back Phill Donahue.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:56 pmRachel is awesome!
Break a leg, girlfriend!!
December 10th, 2007 at 6:57 pmYay Dr. Maddow!
December 10th, 2007 at 6:59 pmHurray Rachel
December 10th, 2007 at 7:00 pmOnce again, another reason why MSNBC has lost ratings and is no longer a reliable news source!
December 10th, 2007 at 7:05 pmkeep telling yourself that, JP.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:10 pmSeattle used to have a famous TV clown whose name was JP Patches. Now think progress has a troll named JP. Odd.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:11 pmOnce again, another reason why MSNBC has lost ratings and is no longer a reliable news source!
Comment by JPisHere — December 10, 2007 @ 7:05 pm
yes, becasue they haven’t put her on the air yet. Then the ratings will start to climb. You’re not too bright, I see.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:11 pmJP is here, there, and on every thread with his discount one liners…..
December 10th, 2007 at 7:15 pmAwesome news! Way to go! Rachel is smart, funny and WAY more intelligent than anyone on the Faux Propaganda Network.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:15 pmRachel Maddow is one very smart woman. She can hold her own in any debate, letting any conservative windbag blather on and make a fool of him/herself, while she manages to keep her cool and the demeanor of one who is self-assured in her arguments.
This would be a big plus for MSNBC if they were to sign her contract.
BTW, Tweety made a brief commentary himself on the show today wherein he spoke of the lack of depth and historical background knowledge in this administration, citing Dana Perino, thinking it’s cute that she doesn’t know of the Bay of Pigs. This isn’t the first time that the breathtaking lack of knowledge has shown itself in the Bush White House - namely, Bush himself.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:19 pmDoes MSNBC know Maddow is a uhh…..esbian-Lay? OMG….they’re taking over the airwaves!!!! James Dobson was right!!
Yawn.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:19 pmThe comparison between the intelligence of Maddow and any airhead on FOX will be drastic — with FOX coming out on the short end of that one. No surprise. FOX has only sycophantic parrots with short skirts and sharp tongues, and only the ability to memorize the talking points from Roger Ailes.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:23 pmI love Rachel Maddow and look forward to her appearances on Countdown and catching her Air America show in rebroadcast on Sundays. She is without a doubt the smartest women in the talk scene today. I like her even more than Randi Rhodes, whom I like, but sometimes I get sick of her rants.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:33 pmGo girl!!!!
December 10th, 2007 at 7:37 pmIt is simply astonishing how those in the corporate airwaves will twist themselves in knots in order to find some justification for allowing a liberal to finally have his or her own show. Even Keith Olbermann, the darling of the left, has said that he does not consider himself to be a liberal. What are these corporate executives so fearful of? As someone else alluded, the only liberal that was on television was Phil Donahue and he was let go when he dared to advocate an anti-war position during the buildup to the Iraq invasion. The only program, without qualification, that can be considered truly progressive is Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez. In this era where television seems so timid in criticizing authority, it remains to be seen if the television executives will give Ms. Maddow the freedom to say whatever she wishes regarding the issue of power and authority in this country.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:40 pmHere’s hoping it works out for her. She’s intelligent and brave. We need more like her.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:40 pmComment by RUCerious - I know, was just referring to our “Liberal” MSM actually having a Progressive Host a Show and not giving them a script right from the White House.
She rocks.
December 10th, 2007 at 7:49 pmgood for her….she’ll be a great addition…. http://abcnews.go.com/ Blotter/ story?id=3977702&page=1 this is off topic…and very disturbing.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:03 pmBravo to MSNBC if this is true and congrats to Rachel Maddow. Now if they just get rid of Tucker Carlson and add a show for David Shuster, they just may make it out of the stone age.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:34 pmCan’t wait to see Abrams’ show too - there have gotten to be such a long list of major scandals, it’s hard to remember them all.
Would that dubbie’d been a D, then all we’d need is a cumstain.
December 10th, 2007 at 8:54 pmI completely agree with you, Vanthomas (well, except the stone age bit.) Tucker is just a ‘wipe, and David has already shown that he can be pretty relentless when the people he interviews try to avoid answering his questions. Rachel is strong enough to hold her own on her own show.
I watched the Abrams segment; unfortunately, he needs a lot more than the 5 or 10 minutes he was able to devote to it in order to cover the ruination of the Justice Department. I realize that it’s a series, but he needs more time in each show just to delve into each of the hundreds of facets of this issue. Screw the fluff news!
December 10th, 2007 at 9:34 pmI haven’t seen/heard a great deal of her but, I would say her patient approach is pretty effective. She seems to be able to wait through the most inane rants, then discredit the ranters in a few, quiet words. I don’t see much reason she should change her approach.
December 10th, 2007 at 9:58 pmOnly one week to discect the politization of the justice department? Maybe Maddow will get to elaborate….
December 10th, 2007 at 10:31 pmPlease hire her Mr.Wolff. I will watch MSNBC and be your BEST FRIEND FOREVER.
December 10th, 2007 at 11:00 pmI’m not a fan on Rachel Maddow but she’s at least qualified to be a News broadcaster unlike Rosie O’Donuts.
December 10th, 2007 at 11:03 pmDr. Maddow knows lots. And she can laugh at the world. A winning combination any day.
December 11th, 2007 at 12:01 amthis is so awesome……i love the rachel…….she is the smartest chick on the planet earth
http://www.queerty.com/ news/ huckabee-may-have-lost-weight-but-hes-still-a-pig-20071210/
December 11th, 2007 at 12:04 am“Progressive”?? What the hell does that mean? This woman (?) is a lesbo lib!!! The good news is that her ratings will be lower than even Olbermann’s! I give her two weeks TOPS!
December 11th, 2007 at 12:13 amRachel is the guest @ next week’s SHOOT THE MESSENGER…if you are in nyc, you should come!
December 11th, 2007 at 12:35 amThanks Officer Kerry. You’re opinion has such value here. I suggest you don’t watch, you might learn something if you do, and then you wouldn’t qualify as a troll.
December 11th, 2007 at 8:32 amThe picture used by TVNewser is an outdated photo. I have been a fan of Rachel Maddow from the moment she started on Air America. She is the right-wing’s biggest nightmare… a beautiful, strong, outspoken Lesbian with a Ph.D. in political science, with a sense of humor. While Tucker Carlson’s show was being lambasted by all the reviewers Rachel was mentioned as the only bright spot of his show. Tucker threw a hissy-fit and got her portion limited to a few seconds. I hope her show flies and they let her do her thing. Good luck Rachel. By the way, Kent Jones is also great I hope he moves with her.
December 11th, 2007 at 8:49 amNo Officer Kerry would never become more than a carbuncle, no matter what he does.
although ya got to say he seems to be easily amused!
December 11th, 2007 at 10:25 amOh and Mr Kerry. you didn’t tell us that Ms Maddow grew up in in an area close to Berkeley and San Francisco so that must make her suspect. Also that she was an Oxford Fellow like Bill Clinton.
you must pursue the faux/rePUG/nincompoop line a little closer.
December 11th, 2007 at 10:34 amIt makes me laugh like crazy to watch Dan Abrams these days.
When he was a fill-in host for RigntWing Joe Scarborough, he was as big a reicher as ol’ Joe - he annoyed the crap out of me with his rightwing tooliness.
Now, however, it seems Mr. Abrams has swung round to the left - it was gradual; I noticed that I wasn’t yelling at the TV quite as often! ;o)
And I’d place the cause of that shift directly on the fast-growing popularity of Keith Olbermann. Way to go, Keith!!!
December 11th, 2007 at 12:14 pmThat’s great good news!
December 11th, 2007 at 12:38 pm“Progressive? What the hell does that mean? This woman (?) is a lesbo lib!!! The good news is that her ratings will be lower than even Olbermann’s! I give her two weeks TOPS!
Comment by John Kerry — December 11, 2007 @ 12:13 am
What a surprise to learn you’re a bigot. A “lezbo lib?” Why do you care what she does in her bedroom? What’s all this nonsense about “ratings?” Are you now a member of the Nielsen family? Or are you just really, insanely, stupid? Here’s what I care about, and I feel safe in saying, most people who post on this website care about, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We care about returning our country to the days when it operated under the auspices of the Constitution. Your ridiculous comments indicate to me that all you care about is winning republican-style. You are a traitor to your country. And you are disgusting in every way. Here’s hoping you go the way of all republican trash, straight down the toilet, or into prison where you belong. You’re garbage and I want you out of my country.
